We were a large party who needed a quiet enough place to sit and catch up and eat. We had kids so it needed to be able to accommodate all these needs. It did as far as space and quiet but I sure wish the food was better. The food really lacked flavor.
Great local Italian restaurant, friendly staff. They have a Sunset menu and a pix fixe dinner menu as well which are both a terrific value! We had the pasta e fagioli soup, which was excellent and a salad with a very good balsamic vinaigrette. For entrees we had chicken Florentine and wild mushroom ravioli with bechamel sauce, both were delicious. For dessert we had their tiramisu which is the best! Highly recomment!
Great cozy little neighborhood Italian bistro. Food was very good, generous portions. Service was friendly and well run. Overall, restaurant over-delivers relative to cost.
Great neighborhood Italian restaurant. Attentive staff, without being overbearing. Solidly good food at a reasonable price. Overall...a good value.
The food at La Stanza is excellent and the price is very reasonable for such good cuisine. It is a small intimate restaurant with a nice atmosphere. The staff is very professional and the waiter Laszlo is great. He works as a team with the other waiter and they provide outstanding service. He is always attentive to the diners. We have eaten there several times while in New York and return each year. Reservations are a must but well worth the planning ahead.
This is a hidden gem that we just discovered.
The place is small upstairs but vey comfortable and noise level is low so we had no trouble having a conversation.
Food was excellent and service impeccable. We were not rushed at all.
We will definitely be back
Nice staff and service
I have been dining at La Stanza for years, back since it's Fagiolini days. It's terrific for a quick lunch or a leisurely dinner and even a holiday event.
Excellent and intimate experience
This place is a gem of an Italian restaurant in Murray Hill district. Pasta is made fresh and is to die for. Highly recommend for a quiet good quality dinner.
The waiter was lovely and it was very quiet! Food was tasty too and the lunch pre fixe comes with a glass of wine!
Food is ordinary Italian fare. Kind of bland.Nothing remarkable. Service was very good but this is a "one and done" for us.
Adorable and great food ! Perfect for any occasion.
We have been to la Stanza many times and consider it our go to place to take out of towners for a hearty, well prepared and delicious Italian meal at a reasonable price. It never disappoints! And Lazlo is a force of nature, a whirling dervish of energy and efficiency. He practically runs the entire restaurant!
Unfortunately, the day we went to the restaurant they were down a staff member and there was only 1 person running the front of the restaurant. He did everything and managed all tables, so the service was so incredibly slow. Food was fine, but it everything was slow and while the waiter did his best, the restaurant should have hired more help. The wine bottle we ordered was a bit warm for my taste but we didn't dare ask for it to be cooled down given the lack of service that night. There are so many amazing restaurants in NYC, so we probably won't be back.
Great service! Delicious food
Nice cosy place ... good food at great prices
La Stanza is an charming, unpretentious, authentic Italian restaurant with a concise menu of classic dishes. We had a great view of Lexington Ave. from the second floor window of the cozy dining room. Their meatballs were moist, rich with a perfect flavor profile. The pasta was homemade with a clean, simple sauce. Perfect. We will be coming back.
Neither as good as many supporters have said, nor as bad as the criticism leveled by its detractors. Pastas are good, but sauces could be much better. Our first course salads were drenched in dressing. Still it was quiet enough to have a conversation and the atmosphere was very pleasant.
La Stanza is truly a "neighborhood gem" in every sense of the word "gem"—it is treasured and sought after and something that you want to keep. Its lunch and dinner prix-fixe menus are Manhattan's best deal, and the wait staff is superb. Also love the "quiet little Italian feel" of the place.
Excellent and well priced Murray Hill Italian with outstanding service from Tudor.
I have been here a few times. The food is consistently good. The prices are the best. Not too many restaurants offer deals like this anymore. It’s so nice.
Awesome experience. Attentive wait staff, low noise level, and most importantly mouthwatering Italian specials
The service is impeccable. On a level with a much more expensive restaurant.
We were moved downstairs on arrival as our table was not ready, it was not explained that this is a different restaurant with kitchen share. The confusion could have been avoided with a simple explanation. We were however offered either menu. The serving staff were great and the food was reasonably priced and very tasty.
Unfortunately a large party of older teens were very noisy which ended our night a little earlier than anticipated, however this is not down to the restaurant. If I had 25 people making a little noise I would probably accept it in favour of a smaller number of other guests being a little disgruntled.
Overall it was a good meal and the restaurant was clean with good food at a reasonable price. I would revisit.
Visiting for the weekend, we found this gem and were so glad! Pasta is beautifully made, and the ambience and service were wonderful.
Nice quiet neighborhood restaurant with consistently good food and outstanding tiramisu!
The food and the service were outstanding! Thank you.
Dinner was good. Waiter was loud
From the moment you walk into La Stanza the experience, the staff and the food was exceptional. I will be coming back to this restaurant for years to come. Thank you!
This is the perfect place for a friends get-together or a quiet dinner for two. The prices and service can't be beat!
This was our first time but not the last. Food was good and service at its best. Friendly, quick and made you fell welcome.
This will be one of our local hangouts for a good Italian meal.
I have been here a few times and never disappointed. The food is basic Italian but consistently good. The service is very attentive. The restaurant is small but that is what makes it so enjoyable.
Fantastic service, great food and our two kids (11 & 15) were warmly welcomed. Would definitely come back!
Very lovely experience. Great food, great service, and wonderful ambiance. Very low key and a wonderful place for a 1 on 1 meal. Will definitely be returning regularly!!
Decent neighborhood place, good value. Should have more "specials", and the one waiter they had was a bit overwhelmed at times.
Really homey and cozy place, not fancy, but feels like eating dinner in a small Italian town. Great service and homemade tasting food. Would definitely return
A serviceable Italian restaurant staffed by Eastern Europeans. I had a decent prix fixe, but nothing to write home about (the best part of which was the tiramisu dessert). The space is small and a bit cramped and relatively inexpensive for Manhattan. It appears to be run out of the same kitchen as the 'House of Lasagne' downstairs, which presumably is the budget version of La Stanza.
Good food, well priced! Great service. A neighborhood gem!
