We enjoyed a fantastic family meal here... it was our first tourist visit to Montreal with our kids and we wanted them to see the city at its best. This restaurant reminded all of us of the bistros and brasseries that we ate at in France ... all for meals were excellent (duck confit, ballotine de dinde and scallops). Chocolate tart for dessert was outstanding. We look forward to being back!
Been twice there, for dinner with friends and for a business lunch. Very good menu, excellent service, the quality of food was almost impeccable except for too strong sauce with my friend's bavette. He said it was killing the excellent Taste of meat. Other than that everything was perfect and definitely worth the visit. Will return.
No one serving us - weird atmosphere. Was charged 22$ for some lettuce and 3 small rectangles of smoked salmon. Just not great overall.
I went to Montreal with my friends and boyfriend and we had the most amazing dinner and time. The staff was friendly and beyond helpful. They even helped us figure out where we should go out afterwards! The food was delicious and the wine was great.
Amazing food! We had oysters, steak, fries, duck and strawberry cheesecake. Loved every bite. Such a romantic dinner and a beautiful space. Close walking to downtown and our hotel and train. We will be back!
We have been to the La Societe Bistro (located in the Vogue Hotel) several times. It is always good and the wait staff very friendly and accommodating. This time I had the veal chop and it was only ok - not a lot of flavor. My wife had the small seafood platter which was a good size. However although the menu says that you get a half lobster, it's more like a bit of lobster meat mixed in with a lot of parsley. Not was she was expecting based on what is on the menu. They also put greenery on the lemon tart - not necessary. We really like this place and will return.
Restaurant d’ambiance agréable et pas trop fréquenté le midi. Parfait pour un lunch d’affaire sans oreilles indiscrètes.
Kudos to the friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend
I came here for breakfast and it was very good. The service was excellent! I ordered eggs Benedict and it was ok, it came almost cold, no salt, and had hardly any hollandaise sauce. I would have sent it back however I was pressed for time. The potatoes were excellent and I like that it came with some salad. I’ll definitely be back!
My friend and I were on a trip to Montreal and wanted an authentic French dining experience. La Société was just what we were looking for. Delicious gourmet authentic French food, a great atmosphere, and excellent staff. Our waters were filled before they even got half full, the staff spoke both French and English and were extremely courteous. The price was very decent for that kind of food and it was delicious. Would definitely recommend to a friend.
I went here on a Tuesday for the $1 oysters and it was a great success. I started with a very solid dark and stormy while waiting for my date to arrive. While ordering the oysters the waiter suggested a great wine which we both liked quite a bit.
I will definitely be back and I have already advised coworkers of this great spot downtown!
Not. Worth. The. Price.
Very nice place - however, the portions were ridiculous for New Year's Eve. I have been to fine dining restaurants and never have I seen a main dish so small - we had 3 courses and were STARVING afterwards. We filled up on wine!!! (Once we got back to our hotel, we got french fries and were soooo satisfied)
Their main menu might be better but I was very disappointed with their choice for this special evening.
When we arrived, we were greeted with a welcoming cocktail. I asked if this was included with the NYE price - they said yes but turns out it WASN'T - I wouldn't have drank it if i had known because we planned to get a bottle of wine. We then had complimentary truffles - which were fine. My husband had the duck for his appetizer and main course - I had seared scallops for my appetizer and pan fried halibut for the main dish - which was actually good but everything else was fair. There was only one option for dessert, which was white chocolate almond cake - which was the best part of the menu! Again - tiny portions and the couple beside us felt the same way!
Our total for 2 people was $284.50.
Hope this helps!
The food and service were both excellent. I had the duck confit. It was very good. I enjoyed it. There is. A kids menu, but you have to ask for it.
Holiday meal .
Great service! Coat service during winter is pretty sweet. The waiters/waitresses made sure you were fine and their all black and clean outfit made you feel more respected and professional. The food looked and tasted great!
Lovely Christmas decor, wonderful staff and delicious meal
Nice place but took the time to ask for a table at the bar, we had to repeat it 3 times once there. Requested a suprise bday chocolate cake in my reservation and they did not note it. So my suprise was ruined. Not attentive to special requests
Awesome service à la Française and food was perfect... only little disappointment was the non existing crust of the creme brûlée...
very good food and ambiance
one thing to improve are the chairs which are not confortable at all; I sat there for a business meeting and there were extremely uncomfortable.
Went for brunch and had great classic brunch options. Got the omelette and the salmon eggs Benedict and they were great options.
From the moment we walked in, the staff was warm and welcoming, seeming to anticipate our needs. Food was incredible. Decor was beautiful. A wonderfully romantic evening.
Mon repas etait presque bruler ...tres decu
Et mon canard etait tres saler ...jai meme pas pu finir mon plat principale . Par contre les tartare sont reussi.
Service pas à la hauteur !
Dû attendre 10 mins pour le lait dans notre café pour un ptit dejeuner
Food was excellent! Our group of friends tried different things and we were all very happy with our choices. Their Rockefeller Oyster is very good despite being a little pricey on regular days (we had the Mtl a Table menu and prices). Also, the location is great, the place is beautiful and the service was impeccable! It is quite refreshing to see that some people still care about providing outstanding service. La Société is definitely a place to try or to add to your regular date spots! *
The personnel was friendly and the decor is great. But the Rockefeller oysters were cold, the fish soup and the rissoto were average. For a final bill over 400$ for 4 (including 170$ for wine), the price quality balance was not there.
2 out of 3 had upset stomachs ( different for choices). MSG?????
We went to the restaurant for a weekday breakfast as my guest wanted French food but had did not have time for lunch. The breakfast menu looked great. We arrived just after 11 am but breakfast was no longer being served. Lunch was not quite ready to begin. We had to have the last couple of croissants/pain au chocolat that they had left from breakfast while waiting for the lunch menu to begin. The salads we ordered were very good and large portions. But if you're a hotel restaurant - post the time that breakfast ends!
Restaurant was more of a bistro style whereas I thought from the website and the reviews that it was fine dining.
They will take a table reservation and when you get there apparently the kitchen is closed. Don't let people make reservations if you close your kitchen, some people travelled the entire city to visit your restaurant.
Nous avons quitté ce restaurant d'hôtel glauque après 15 minutes sans avoir reçu de visite du personnel. Des groupes bruyants de convives avaient tous été installés dans la même section.
Foo was average
went with a large group for a bachelorette weekend brunch. was pleasantly surprised by how nice the setting was, however service was incredibly slow and with a variety of issues. Had a friend order her bacon crispy and she was reassured "all our bacon is served crispy" just for every single order of bacon to eventually come limp to the table. Additionally myself and my seat neighbor both ordered eggs over easy, mine came very over hard while hers came with perfectly runny yolk. Did not appreciate the inconsistency/delivery of the wrong level of cooked. I understand large groups can be difficult, but there were 2 large groups and very little others in the restaurant. Seems like an unreasonably poor level of service and quality for a non busy morning.
We (my Wife and I) came there for our marrage's anniversary, I was so happy to be there, such as beautiful place, My Wife want to come again.. See you next time and Thks for your services.
We decided to take a break from festival food after a couple of days at Osheaga, and looked up local brunch places. La Societe hit the spot perfectly! Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful, the place is well decorated, and the food was great. My girlfriend ordered a simple ham and cheese (Gruyere) omelette which she loved. I had the lobster benedict which was outstanding. We also shared a Mount Royal, their name for yogurt, granola and berries, which happened to be very good. If I am in the neighborhood again, I would definitely go back, especially for the benedict.
We really like our experience. The food was excellent.
Honnête sans plus.Assez cher, trop...Assez généreux. Le tartare était bon, le saumon aussi. Mais pas plus.
Always such a great place to have a good time with friends and enjoy a nice meal with impeccable service. Thank you La Société team for your excellence and special thanks to manager Tina Faouaz for being so thoughtful.
We went for brunch and the service as well as the food was amazing ! Will definitely go back and try their dinner menu as well !
Went for Sunday brunch which was really lunch. Not sure if there was/is a set brunch menu.
French onion soup, salmom tartar & croque madame were very good & served hot.
Classic eggs benedict was barely room temperature with NO plate decor or garnish, just two eggs benedicts with a slight skin from sitting around. Rather than waitng for another fresh one we asked for some HOT hollandaise sauce, it helped a bit. No consillation nor excuse nor apologie from staff. The Belgian berry waffle's were similarly not the correct temperature & pretty hard. The warmed maple syrup & whipped cream help soften the taste.
Upon looking at the menu I planned a more elaborate selection, oysters on the half shell & the lobster benedict. I wanted to take advantage of the UNLIMITED MIMOSA/CEASAR'S @ $29 but requested that all the mimosa's be included. The manager said nobody ever asked for that & at first said it was an issue of price point then it was the time to craft the house selections would take to long. Keeping in mind the resto was 75% empty & 100% empty on the bar side.
I was dissapointed & left it at that...I then looked at the menu only to notice;
Regular mimosa is OJ & Prosecco $13
Marrakech mimosa same as regular with rosewater & lemon extract $13
Moulin-Rouge mimosa Gin,lime sirop & Prosecco $13
So much for satisfying the customer with NOT such a complicated request...
