French Onion Soup
A genuine French bistro with classic menu suggestions including skate, rabbit and cassoulet plus more standard offerings. The food was very good and well presented. It was a bit pricey, but nice for a special night out.
Very positive experience. Friendly excellent service, and food to match.
We enjoyed La Sirene very much. We had a comfortable relaxed meal, that was not rushed. The food was delicious and the wine was good. We particularly love the comfortable interior -- very cozy. It was a great place for date night.
This restaurant's price/value ratio is not to be beat! Often, what passes for French fare in NYC--especially on the Upper West Side--is just the same old same old multicultural menu. But La Sirene bakes its own fabulous bread and proffers a wide array of authentic French specialties, including the best omelettes this side of the Atlantic. Another fave: the goat cheese tart!
We had dinner with some friends outdoors. They’ve done a beautiful job with their heated outdoor dining area. The tables on the building side are very close together with a curtain between, so a guy at a neighboring table kept banging into the back of my chair with his chair, and it’s pretty tight at the table, but nonetheless comfortable and very pretty. There’s also tables in the street, which are more spacious but not separated by dividers.
Food was really good. Portions were uniformly a little small, we felt, which also made it feel pretty expensive. Mine (French gnocchi) was perfectly sized, but the duck and the skate were not enough to satisfy the other three diners. Desert of banana brûlée and something like profiteroles was totally yummy.
Not much for vegetarians. Nothing for vegans.
Everything was delicious, though, service was excellent, and space was pretty.
Definitely recommend to others.
Great service and food!
Consistently wonderful service and excellent food
It's always good. We ate outdoors and the heatlamps practically touched our foreheads so we were definitely warm enough on a chilly, late fall night.
Always a fantastic experience. Reserving again for another group of friends from out of town who requested we go to ‘that great neighborhood French place’.
From arrival to departure, we felt like we were the inly ones in the room, even though every single table was occupied. This neighborhood gem is tops in our list. Absolutely flawless with a humble attitude both service and food.
And expensive for average food.
Very quaint, truly french bistro with amazing food and service.
This was first visit for us. Definitely will return. Food was tasty, service was friendly and professional.
La Sirene is both vital and rare for its neighborhood: The food is always terrific, the ambiance is always appealing, and the service always stellar. The Upper West Side has a number of very good, underappreciated places (won't list them--don't want them to become trendy), but none are on the level of La Sirene. We had the mussels appetizer (tasty), I had the lamb, she had the salmon; both were outstanding. The molten chocolate cake is beyond wonderful. For a special evening on the Upper West Side, this is the place.
Good food, particularly the appetizers and dessert. Attentive service. Nice atmosphere. They should refrain from spraying cleaning fluid so freely when cleaning tables. Very strong odor, which only lasted a few seconds. But felt at some distance.
Very enjoyable. Food and service like an excellent Paris bistro
I thought the food was meager and very expensive, not nearly as good as it used to be
This place just gets it right. Above all else...the food is consistenlty excellent. Ambience intimate and relaxing.
Prices are fair.
The most delicious baked pear with melted brie and then delicious sliced duck breast
Prices increased since last visit. Hangar steak tough. No Prosecco on menu: wine prices high. Limited cocktails.
Very nice local French place. The menu doesn't change often (if at all), but their signatures are always delicious and a little left-of-center. Service is efficient and polite if not always personable, but that's fine with me. Had a lovely meal here, all told.
Cold air coming from opening front door unpleasant
Not happy with extra charge for using credit card.
Otherwise quite enjoyable. And good excellent.
The food here is consistently delicious and the service always friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this place for a lovely evening out! Also, the outdoor dining space is very nice.
Professional service, very good French cooking, nice place. Will go back. Extra charge for credit card is a down side....
We went at 10 am and we're the only ones indoors. It was quiet and delicious. The outdoor area is really lovely and while we were there, those tables filled up. We'll be back!
Fantastic experience all around. Expertly cooked food, attentive but not overbearing staff, and very fairly priced for the quality. We'll be back again and again.
Very good service
V ery disappointing experience. I had ordered the rabbit and while the first bite was delicious the following were horrible. the meat was stuffed with large bits of uncooked garlic. The garlic overwhelmed the taste of the meat although i tried to get rid of it. I was planning to order a dessert but given my experience with the meat i decided against it.
Service was as good as feasible with only one strechted thin server doing the best he could.
Food was delicious. Service was lovely. Wrong dessert was delivered but we ate it and was delicious. Pointed the error out to the waiter when dishes were being collected. Waiter offered to bring the correct one but was declined. Instead waiter gave us a note for free dessert at next visit.
one of our favorites for breakfast/brunch in the neighborhood! the food is always exceptionally delicious, its simple, classy and stylish decor is inviting and cozy, there's always a warm welcome from Paul (one of the servers) and we always leave happy and content :)
A lovely outdoor enclave that made me feel like I was in Paris. The food was delicious - service excellent and it was a wonderful moment in time.
Food is excellent as well as the service. Fabulous neighbor gem!
Outstanding service, ambience and brunch was delicious. Great local restaurant and always excellent customer service.
Acoustic level inside a bit loud. Needs some soundproofing. Not easy to converse.
Duck was cooked medium well when ordered med rare
I really liked this restaurant! The escargot was very good!
very pleasant environment. busy lunch being handled by only 1 service person who did good job considering.
It was a treat to go back to La Sirene. There are menu items that are not easily found in other local French restaurants (like a wonderful chicken livers salad, superb steak tartare, and the nearly extinct tournedos Rossini, well executed), and a charming interior. Service is good, and there is a superb Cotes du Rhône for under &60.
Exceptional food and wonderful service
