Very good traditional French food with excellent service
Just lovely! Service was attentive without being in your face and we all loved our dishes, especially the duck and the salmon. The cheese tart and the mussels were a nice starter and the profiteroles were a wonderful way to wrap up the evening. The food was authentically French and quiet enough to hear our entire group of 4. I would not hesitate to go again!
This evening was our first time at La Sirene. What a cozy, warm delicious pleasure it was! A very friendly staff and the ambiance added so much to our evening. Very creatively prepared wonderful food that we enjoyed, and being new in the neighborhood ( us), it was a find!! We will certainly be back!
Love they’re serving breakfast which has so many wonderful options and delicious! Service is sweet! The owner chef Didier is a sweetheart! Tres Bon!
Wonderful restaurant. Excellent food. Try the Escargot. Service was very efficient and welcoming. Will return again.
What an amazing neighborhood gem! Quaint environment with outstanding food and wine. Will definitely return!
This place is a gem! They absolutely nail the classics. The care and attention devoted to every detail is evident. Couldn’t be better.
Authentic French. Substitute for actually being in France and dining in a favorite neighborhood restaurant
La Sirene is superb classic French fare with some updated twists. Everything is prepared with great care, and the staff is warm and friendly. It's one of our favorite restaurants on the Upper West Side.
Delicious food, romantic atmosphere and wonderful service. Our favorite French neighborhood restaurant.
terrific menu. very relaxed. a traditional bistro experience which is getting harder to find. will make it a regular stop.
Delicious food !
We loved the food, the ambiance, the service....the cozy comfort
Very disappointed. Really enjoyed downtown location and this one is not up to it.
Acceptable food, friendly service
I was celebrating my birthday
The food was terrific, well prepared, tasty and interesting, not ordinary fare. They were also most accommodating in lowering the music so we could easily engage in conversation.
Excellent cuisine. Attentive service. Love the upper west side atmosphere.
Delicious cassoule... and it was actually possible to hold a normal conversation with my dinner mates, as the music was low. So seldom the case these days, as most NYC restaurants are intolerably and painfully loud.
Anyone who enjoys French food would find this charming little restaurant a delight.
Food was amazing. Probably the best red snapper I've ever had! Server didnt really know what she was doing
This is a wonderful gem on the UWS. Decorated like a train in France. The menu has a great story about the beginnings of the restaurant- a great NYC story. The menu has stayed basically the same for awhile- but I’m fine with it. The baked Pear appetizer is fresh and full flavored with a bit of cheese. I only had appetizers. My main course was the chèvre tarteline, which was great as a full dish with a side salad accompanying the tart. My friends had the modules, the small amount which is generous. One had the curry modules and the other with Dijon. These guys eat moules internationally and they loved them. An order of the pâté de Compagne was ordered- again a generous portion.
The dirty martini was just right .
I always look forward to going here, I like the front by Amsterdam, by a window. There is a small outside area as well.
A very nice place for a quiet dinner in the UWS. The menu has a surprisingly large number of choices for such a small place, and the execution is very good. The wine list is small, but sufficient, and the prices are quite fair.
When we sat down, the music they were playing was too loud. I asked the waitress if it could be turned down, which was done immediately. The mushroom omelettes we ordered were absolutely delicious as were the finely cut frites and salad which came with them.
This is an authentic and fine French restaurant. The chef is creative and unusually talented. Wait staff is attentive and helpful. Mainly, the food is great, from the appetizers to the main courses to the desserts. Absolutely one of the best French joints in NY.
It was wonderful! I cannot wait to go back!
This was our second visit. Rated about same as last time. Previously commented on limited bar (other than wine and beer). This time, staff went out of the way to try to make something equivalent to a Black (ultimately White) Russian when I commented on my prior experience - that prior attempt was iced coffee with vodka. This time they used a coffee, liquor, half and half and vodka. Not quite the same, but passable (although I probably wouldn't do it again, but that's purely an issue of taste). Most important was the attitude of the staff to try to accommodate. We were also with another couple and arrived at 5 PM for a pre-theater dinner and we dined leisurely, leaving about 6:45 to get downtown.
Tart appetizer was good. Choux dessert was good. Entries need more taste. Sauces weak: filet mignon sauce thick but not tasty, rabbit sauce needed more taste.
We had an outstanding dinner and highly recommend dining at La Sirene. We will definitely return in the near future.
Perfect French bistro setting and menu. Quite authentic and very friendly service. We'll return often.
Our experience with our server and with the restaurant in general was excellent. She was very informative about the menu and gave us great recommendations for food and wine. Appetizers which we shared were great (the goat cheese tart and the beet salad) and our entrees were delicious. We had the hanger steak and this salmon. Service was impeccable and the ambiance was lovely.
La Sirene has delicious food, really great service and a quaint ambiance. There are very few things to improve on, maybe just the veggies that come as sides to all entrees. They were soggy and tasteless, and didn't add anything to the experience. Adding some really interesting sides to the menu would elevate the restaurant from good to great. Either way, we'll be back.
Lovely meal, great ambiance and service, first class all the way!
Food excellent; main dish accompanied by 4 different and lovely (presentation and taste) vegetables, making it unnecessary to order sides, salads, or even h'ors d'oevres (so sadly, we didn't get to taste any). We sat outside which kept the noise level to low (except when there were sirens) and was delightful. Wait staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful (and not intrusive).
I'm going back next week and you'd better not take my table!
I've been wanting to try La Sirene for a few years now and am so glad I finally had a chance to! The food was amazing, the restaurant smelt like butter and our server Julio was very knowledgable and friendly. I will definitely be back soon - thanks for a great meal!
Been there many times. Authentic French food that you won't find many other places.
Nice quite restaurant with great food. Perfect place to have a quiet lunch with friends and catch up.
La Sirene UWS has become my favorite place for lunch on the West Side. The menu is extensive and varied, the cooking is superb, the service is wonderful and the prices are reasonable. On this visit, I had onion soup and a platter of vegetables (one of my favorite things on the menu). My guest had a croque madame. We had a splendid time.
We went at lunch for a business meeting and it was the perfect spot. Quiet, not crowded, in a very traditional calm environment. It is also the one of very few restaurants in the city which serves Cornish Hen for lunch.
Decent french food.
