La Sirene UWS
Since May 2007, La Sirène remains an authentic French bistro that is a great place for a date or a nice family dinner. The restaurant style is French Semi Gastronomy, or "casual fine dining".
We are now open for Lunch and Dinner, and for Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
Please note: our Dinner Menu is not available during Brunch hours, except for Desserts.
We now accept Cash, major Cryptocurrencies and major CCs as payment.
It’s like taking a trip to Paris!
Our waitress was hostess/waitress and full of joy. She was the most pleasant, upbeat waitress that we have ever had. Then came the food which was out of this world. My husband and I shared the sauteed foie gras and I had the kassoule and my husband had rack of lamb. The food was outrageously good. We hope to return soon.
nice cozy French bistro !
maybe should have some french music?
Very authentic bistro
We love having La Sirene as part of the UWS line up. It is the perfect neighborhood destination for any occasion, the food is consistently delicious, the setting is warm and the staff are above and beyond gracious. Alsu always makes us feel welcome. With all the shuttering of businesses in this area, I can only hope that La Sirene will be here for years to come.
When we arrived there was only one other couple at a table. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. However, we were not served in a timely manner. There was only one waitress. Our food was cold (eggs Benedict and a hamburger) and the second cup of coffee (never offered, requested) came 20 minutes later. The food was not tasty. I have rated dinner at La Sirene downtown, so I was extremely disappointed.
Dear patron, we are very sorry to hear you didn't have a good time with us on UWS. Flukes happen but rest assured that we will use your feedback to improve both the kitchen and the service so we can serve you better in the future. If it were to happen again, please let our staff know immediately so they make it right to you on the spot. Respectfully, Benjamin La Sirene
Delicious food and excellent service. Will visit again.
Extremely charming decor, friendly staff, and high-quality food preparation.
We went for Valentines day and they had a prix fixe menu for the day. It was very busy and crowded, but once we sat down it was very intimate. The hostess / waitress was very helpful and fun to talk to. The food was great. I got the duck and my fiance had the filet mignon with foie gras , both of which were delicious. We both got oysters as our appetizer and they included a free salad for both of us, all of which was great. Overall highly recommended trying this place out. Can't wait to go back.
Went for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend. The service was immediately excellent and continued to be. The escargot and the filet mignon were rich and luscious. It’s a bit expensive but for a special occasion I’d highly recommend.
Valentines Day. Despite being fully booked, service was unhurried and cheerful. Everything came out on time an in order. We were not rushed.
Wonderful dinner at a fine local bistro. Terrific escargot, rack of lamb and hangar steak. Next time I’ll save room for dessert.
A mixed bag. First of all, the nicest and most helpful staff you'd ever want to meet. Three of us dined for Restaurant Week. Appetizers: escargots were very good, just what you'd expect; pate was well seasoned and beautifully presented but the texture was a little off-putting...more mealy than meaty. Main courses: rabbit was superb; cornish hen was nicely flavored but OVERCOOKED; monkfish was a dud. Dessert: chantilly in pastry was nice, however banana creme brulee was a diaster: thick and pasty and unfocused. On what planet is traditional creme brulee not proof of God's existence?? Less is more!! As for the wines, a serviceable Sanceree cost $21 per glass. My fault for not paying better attention to the prices, however, 400% markup (reckoning the bottle at most is $25 at five glasses per bottle) is CRIMINAL. Aside from the usurious price, they could do much better with the wine list, unless you're prepared to shell out $2,600 for a bottle of Cheval Blanc, admittedly an anomaly.
Dear Anthony, our floor staff is grateful for your feedback. As for our wine list, prices have indeed gone up since 2019, and we share your frustration. The looming threat of tariffs imposed on French wines have already led to price increases on several references, including the Sancerre. Other financial burdens have also resulted in such increase, including real estate tax hikes and minimum wage hikes. Looking forward to keep serving you as best as we can, Sincerely, Benjamin La Sirene
Fabulous food, wonderful host and waitress. Restaurant week best pick.
Fantastic brunch! The tart is to die for and the service was great!
Very small but cozy restaurant with attentive and friendly service. The food was out of this world!!
Overall food was ok for French bistro...pate was not traditional French pate...it was more like eating meatloaf. Escargot was good. Hanger steak was delicious and cooked perfectly.
A perfect French meal, great value for Restaurant week! Friendly servers/owners with a warm welcome on a cold January night! Good options on drinks menu to accompany hanger steak, Cornish hen or sleet fish! Something for everyone at our table! Will definitely visit again!
Lunch at La Sirene is a special treat. The menu is varied and I've never had a dish there that was less than very good. Overwhelmingly, the food is excellent. Service is excellent and prices are quite reasonable.
I took my wife here for Restaurant Week and had a fantastic meal. The prix fixe menu was great with steak, Cornish game hen, escargot and rabbit all available and the food was delicious. Without a doubt the best French meal I’ve had in quite a while. Very strongly recommended.
We went for a casual lunch on Sunday. The seating is cozy but not overly cramped, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The bathroom was nice.
I had the Croque Madame and the French Onion soup. The Croque Madame was delicious and the perfect portion size. It was savory but not too rich. The soup was great, not anything out of the ordinary.
The brunch cocktails were good but a little pricey.
If you enjoy French food make a reservation asap! It’s that good!
We love everything about this place. A French bistro gem on the UWS. The servers are lovely and the food is delicious and the ambience is tres francais!
what a great UWS spot. Loved the lunch menu and half off wine specials. Escargot were excellent and the staff was so friendly and helpful.
First time there and we will
Be back. Very nice restaurant week menu. Terrific escargot. Adequate hangar steak. Companion’s French onion soup very good. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Celebrated due date of our first child!
For winter warmth, the main entrance is on the side street rather than Amsterdam Avenue which can be tricky to locate. The pear salad was superlative and the salmon exquisite. The french fries were done to such a perfection they served as desert. My companion was not as pleased with her Shepard's pie. The coffee was smooth with low acidity. The service with young women doing their best to keep up with the full tables was charming and courteous.
Had a delightful Restaurant Week lunch where the offerings were different from most other French restaurants including paté, duck and filet (at no surcharge). Very pleasant service as well. Will return.
Very good meal for restaurant week. Escargot and onion soup great. Rabbit and monkfish great. Dessert cream puff and almond bites good. All in all enjoyable. A bit expensive though
Delicious food in a small setting which happens to be in my neighborhood. I feel the small room makes it a neighborhood place and yet the quality of the food makes it special.
Delicious French classics! Cozy room. Kind service.
Every bite absolutely delicious. We had the escargot, the rabbit saddle and the snapper with truffles. Cozy room, attentive lovely staff.
A favorite in the neighborhood! Perfect French bistro
This was my first breakfast at La Sirene UWS. It was spectacular. My guest had coffee, a pain au chocolat, and a large, incredibly beautiful, bowl of sugared berries. I had coffee, a remarkable new breakfast pastry, an absolutely perfect egg white omelet and a café au lait. Everything was perfect. Truly perfect. The price was quite modest and I left a generous tip. This is a breakfast not to be missed.
We were sat at a tiny table which was fine for 2 people but... The food all came out at once and on a small table this didn’t work. Also the food got somewhat cold because they didn’t spread out the entrees and we were just starting to eat the popovers. Sadly, Popovers were cold (in fact next table asked for them to reheat them and the strawberry butter was hard and not softened or warmed. Also it didn’t taste like anything. My friend ordered a burger cooked medium and it came out rare (which they took back) and returned as medium cooked. The bacon was not cooked enough but they fixed that. The brunch menu online is different from the dishes on the menu. Scrambled eggs were $14 but for each ingredient you wished to add it was between a $4-$7 charge per ingredient. Ridiculous. The waitress was nice to take the popovers and bacon off the bill but regardless I won’t be returning.
Dear Alysa, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience with us didn't match your expectations. Be sure that we take customer feedback very seriously and will work on improving the flow between the kitchen and the floor. Also thank you for letting your waitress know about your experience so she was able to try and fix it immediately. Our Scrambled Eggs are priced $11.50 plus add-ons both in-house and online as we update our website regularly. Best, Benjamin La Sirene
Our server was so charming, warm, and knowledgeable. The food was as good as the downtown original. The room is close but still lovely. Really enjoyed ourselves.
Haven't seen Tornadoes Rossini on a menu for more than 20 years. It was a return to old NYC------tender mignon topped with pate in a rich wine sauce.
For appetizer we had the ravioli with goat cheese---------succulent and creamy. I would have licked the plate if I was in my home.
And try their breakfast, delicious food and outstanding value!
When I put my view as Outstanding- it means greeted- seated fast- drink order comes quickly ( my dirty martini) and the waitstaff is attentive.
La Sirene is all that!! The staff is so friendly and even when full house.
I feel this is a westside gem.
Drinks- full sized great!
Moules creole- great broth!
Baked pear w_ blue cheese- my fav first course. I hv a goat cheese tart for main course which comes with a generous side salad.
The country paté very French.
Read the menu about the beginnings of this place.
I always feel like I'm in a French train!
Feels like a true Parisian restaurant. Worth trying for breakfast, lunch or Dinner!
