La Sirene UWS
Since May 2007, La Sirène remains an authentic French bistro that is a great place for a date or a nice family dinner. The restaurant style is French Semi Gastronomy, or "casual fine dining".
We are now open for Lunch and Dinner, and for Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
Please note: our Dinner Menu is not available during Brunch hours, except for Desserts.
We now accept Cash, major Cryptocurrencies and major CCs as payment.
I took my wife here for Restaurant Week and had a fantastic meal. The prix fixe menu was great with steak, Cornish game hen, escargot and rabbit all available and the food was delicious. Without a doubt the best French meal I’ve had in quite a while. Very strongly recommended.
If you enjoy French food make a reservation asap! It’s that good!
We love everything about this place. A French bistro gem on the UWS. The servers are lovely and the food is delicious and the ambience is tres francais!
what a great UWS spot. Loved the lunch menu and half off wine specials. Escargot were excellent and the staff was so friendly and helpful.
First time there and we will
Be back. Very nice restaurant week menu. Terrific escargot. Adequate hangar steak. Companion’s French onion soup very good. All in all a very pleasant experience.
Celebrated due date of our first child!
For winter warmth, the main entrance is on the side street rather than Amsterdam Avenue which can be tricky to locate. The pear salad was superlative and the salmon exquisite. The french fries were done to such a perfection they served as desert. My companion was not as pleased with her Shepard's pie. The coffee was smooth with low acidity. The service with young women doing their best to keep up with the full tables was charming and courteous.
Had a delightful Restaurant Week lunch where the offerings were different from most other French restaurants including paté, duck and filet (at no surcharge). Very pleasant service as well. Will return.
Very good meal for restaurant week. Escargot and onion soup great. Rabbit and monkfish great. Dessert cream puff and almond bites good. All in all enjoyable. A bit expensive though
Delicious food in a small setting which happens to be in my neighborhood. I feel the small room makes it a neighborhood place and yet the quality of the food makes it special.
Delicious French classics! Cozy room. Kind service.
Every bite absolutely delicious. We had the escargot, the rabbit saddle and the snapper with truffles. Cozy room, attentive lovely staff.
A favorite in the neighborhood! Perfect French bistro
This was my first breakfast at La Sirene UWS. It was spectacular. My guest had coffee, a pain au chocolat, and a large, incredibly beautiful, bowl of sugared berries. I had coffee, a remarkable new breakfast pastry, an absolutely perfect egg white omelet and a café au lait. Everything was perfect. Truly perfect. The price was quite modest and I left a generous tip. This is a breakfast not to be missed.
We were sat at a tiny table which was fine for 2 people but... The food all came out at once and on a small table this didn’t work. Also the food got somewhat cold because they didn’t spread out the entrees and we were just starting to eat the popovers. Sadly, Popovers were cold (in fact next table asked for them to reheat them and the strawberry butter was hard and not softened or warmed. Also it didn’t taste like anything. My friend ordered a burger cooked medium and it came out rare (which they took back) and returned as medium cooked. The bacon was not cooked enough but they fixed that. The brunch menu online is different from the dishes on the menu. Scrambled eggs were $14 but for each ingredient you wished to add it was between a $4-$7 charge per ingredient. Ridiculous. The waitress was nice to take the popovers and bacon off the bill but regardless I won’t be returning.
Dear Alysa, Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience with us didn't match your expectations. Be sure that we take customer feedback very seriously and will work on improving the flow between the kitchen and the floor. Also thank you for letting your waitress know about your experience so she was able to try and fix it immediately. Our Scrambled Eggs are priced $11.50 plus add-ons both in-house and online as we update our website regularly. Best, Benjamin La Sirene
Our server was so charming, warm, and knowledgeable. The food was as good as the downtown original. The room is close but still lovely. Really enjoyed ourselves.
Haven't seen Tornadoes Rossini on a menu for more than 20 years. It was a return to old NYC------tender mignon topped with pate in a rich wine sauce.
For appetizer we had the ravioli with goat cheese---------succulent and creamy. I would have licked the plate if I was in my home.
And try their breakfast, delicious food and outstanding value!
When I put my view as Outstanding- it means greeted- seated fast- drink order comes quickly ( my dirty martini) and the waitstaff is attentive.
La Sirene is all that!! The staff is so friendly and even when full house.
I feel this is a westside gem.
Drinks- full sized great!
Moules creole- great broth!
Baked pear w_ blue cheese- my fav first course. I hv a goat cheese tart for main course which comes with a generous side salad.
The country paté very French.
Read the menu about the beginnings of this place.
I always feel like I'm in a French train!
Feels like a true Parisian restaurant. Worth trying for breakfast, lunch or Dinner!
Great food! Cute place with half off wine at lunch time.
Lovely spot for. Neighborhood bite. Charming ambiance and friendly service. Terrific apps especially escargot. We happened to have ordered the cassoulet and while it was tasty it was overloaded with beans. This wouldn’t stop us from going back again and again. This is a neighborhood gem.
Small, almost intimate, with great food and great service! But noise was definitely an issue.
La Sirene UWS earns 50 stars! We had an outstanding meal - pricey, but worth every penny. The service was outstanding, our waitress was absolutely delightful. The star course of the evening was the Seared Foie Gras with Balsamic Duck Glaze, probably the second best Foie Gras I've ever had. We had the Escargots, Carré d’Agneau au Jus de Truffes (rack of lamb, medium rare), Magret de Canard (seared duck breast, also medium rare), and Ravioles de Royan au Comté (Ravioli in Truffle Cream Sauce). Every dish was perfectly executed in a classic French style, served in a classic French "Bistro" ambiance. Well done La Sirene!
And they make a great martini......
This restaurant is such a find. The wait staff are lovely and the food is delicious. Real French bistro cooking. We’ve only had breakfast and brunch, but we went back several times in a week. Love this place!
This was a wonderful place to have an early breakfast on my own. Nice location, with kind waitstaff. I enjoyed the food, and setting. (I was able to access the restroom easily, but it is down stairs, and that would be difficult for someone with mobility issues.)
This boîte is a lovely and romantic place to find well on French bistro staples, always well prepared. The prices are a little high, but fair enough; the wine list is expensive. The service is fine.
Small portions and expensive.
The food was delicious, authentic French. Atmosphere great. The service was top notch and the wine recommendation was terrific. I will return again and again.
Very good authentic french bistro food without the silly melodramatic frills at reasonable prices. Everyone I have recommended this place to has thanked me and, in turn, has recommended it to others.
Wonderful brunch. French toast is to die for. Popovers are huge but tend to bed on the dry side. Coffee was served with grounds in it. French fries are pure heaven. Service was somewhat inattentive but it is brunch in NYC.
Fabulous! Our second visit and we’re going back again tomorrow
La Sirene is our favorite restaurant on the west side of NY--- delicious food, great service, wonderful ambiance -- a real find. When work gets out it will be impossible to get a table.
Great food and good service! Very friendly! Would go back again for sure.
Very nice date place. Full bar in terms of wine, alcohol etc. Wish they had a real bar to sit at but food is good, selections varied enough. A little pricey but good quality and lovely neighbourhood romantic place.
I general we really liked the place. My only problem was that the fish was overly salty. But I certainly plan on coming back.
Excellent food and amazing service! Highly recommend!
Service terrific (waitstaff: Anna) at UWS location. Food very good at lunch (too much cream in the Ravioles de Royan. Chicken livers excellent but salad could be more interesting -- perhaps on toast with mixed salad on the side -- otherwise food would get a 5). Delicious real popovers with strawberry butter, actual hot tea in a pot.
Ambience is authentically French bistro: small, cute, casual, not loud even when busy, totally lovely.
Very good traditional French food with excellent service
