La Sirene UWS
Since May 2007, La Sirène remains an authentic French bistro that is a great place for a date or a nice family dinner. The restaurant style is French Semi Gastronomy, or "casual fine dining".
We are now open for Lunch and Dinner, and for Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
Please note: our Dinner Menu is not available during Brunch hours, except for Desserts.
We now accept Cash, major Cryptocurrencies and major CCs as payment.
La Sirene is a quaint and lovely French bistro. The food is excellent, but the menu is full of very heavy dishes, which is why I didn't give them 5 stars. For example, we had linguini with assorted fish/shellfish. All the fish and shellfish was excellent and the linguini was very tasty but also extremely buttery/creamy. If you enjoy that type of food, then rush over, but if not, then your choices will be limited.
Delicious food, great service. A neighborhood gem!
La Sirene was fantastic the first three times we went there. I have no idea what happened this time but all four of us had to send our meals back since they were overcooked and tasteless. They must have a new chef or he wasn’t working that day. Very disappointing since we have been raving about the food previously. I hope this was a one time glitch and not a trend. We will wait awhile and give La Sirene one more shot. Hopefully it’s problems will be fixed.
Lovely spot; good service but the quality of the dishes was quite uneven. Escargots and especially the Ravioles de Royan appetizers were delicious. Salmon entree was excellent but the hanger steak was overcooked and tough. The rabbit saddle was bland and overcooked.
Terrific restaurant -- intimate, charming and wonderful food. Who could ask for more?
Nice ambience and table open air to the street. Helpful service team. Tasty food. Perfect for a warm summer night.
Dinner with daughter!! Very nice. Attentive service. Excellent food. Good wine
Love this restaurant - neighborhood gem. Now with windows open and outdoor seating wonderful
This place is perfect. Excellent service, exquisite well prepared food, charming ambience and well priced. One of my absolute neighborhood faves.
Goat cheese tart was very good but the Cassoulet Special was particularly disappointing. Seasoning was bland and the two pieces of sausage included weren't good. Duck OK
Great atmosphere, great service, and great food. We will be back.
I expected more for the price. Onion soup had no flavor. The duck was chewy and the glaze gloppy and overpowering the duck. At these prices, I expected better.
The ambiance is charming, food very good
however they are over priced especially the alcohol, my party ordered martinis, we were not informed that they were $21 each! ....and one wasn’t prepared to order and needed to be sent back
Always reliable - very very good options - have never had a bad or marginal meal.
This is a real neighborhood gem. The food was fresh, ample, authentic and delicious. A slice of France in NYC. We will be back.
Worse restaurant I have ever been to
Don’t recommend ito
Loved this place! What a find. The food was delicious and the waitress was delightful. I'll be back!
La Sirene on a Thursday evening in May was wonderful on all counts. We sat outside for a cocktail and then went inside for dinner. The menu was diverse and interesting. Among us we had escargots, paté, cornish hen, and breast of duck. Main courses were accompanied by attractive platters of mashed carrots, haricots verts, and 2 kinds of squash. Wine was expensive but delicious. The service was "just right," always available, never intrusive. Overall, a lovely evening--we'll be back often!
I wanted to give the restaurant a higher rating but the service is lacking. Good food, cozy, and very nice staff, but there were only 2 of them for about 25 patrons and one doubled as the bartender. I don’t know what happens when the outdoor seating is open.
Please improve service and we’ll be back.
La Sirene UWS outdid itself last Monday night. The cooking was spectacular. One of us had the special, shrimp in a remarkable sauce. A second had the Kassoulet. He had spent the day doing battle with another lawyer and wanted a dish fit for a warrior and devoured every bite. I had the filet mignon. The lawyer had the croquembouche for dessert, while we had the remarkable tarte with berries and the lava cake. Not a drop was left on the plates. The vegetables were unusually good and we had a remarkable Chilean wine that Gonzago suggested. Every table was filled -- on a Monday night. I suggest getting reservations.
Loved the upstairs intimate table, it was awesome!
Gonzalo was amazing, as were all the staff. Beautiful atmosphere.
Every bite was tasty and seasoned flavorfully. Meats cooked perfectly to rareness as requested.
You know a place is good when you’re devouring the side dishes (buttery green beans and squash). Expensive, but if you want some authentic French bistro fare on the UWS this is the place to be.
Limited menu, overpriced wine list, and overall good, but not spectacular. Certainly not worth the price.
I went to La Sirene UWS for lunch with an old friend last Monday. She ordered the goat cheese tart and said that it was so delicious that while this time she made the trip to the UWS to have lunch with me, in the future she would come for the food whether I joined her or not. I told her that I love introducing friends to La Sirene UWS. As if on cue, another old friend who I had introduced to the place walked in with a friend and said, "I love eating here. Every dish is made with love." He's right. I had the sausage and peppers and they were as magnificent as ever. I'm going back tomorrow for lunch with another friend who's never been there. BTW, while lunch there is great, a full dinner there is all the more magnificent.
Loved this place. The food was superb and the service was lovely.
La Sirene UWS has attained a level of consistent excellence that one rarely finds in a neighborhood restaurant, or, for that matter, in any restaurant. Over the past year, we've worked our way through the entire menu and I don't think we've had a single dish that we didn't like. The service is excellent, knowledgeable, and friendly. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality. The crowd is friendly and quiet. Reservations are essential for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and are wise for weekdays. If there are specials on the menu, order them. If Gonzago suggests a wine, take his advice.
A really lovely small bistro style restaurant with spectacular food.
The charm and the attentiveness of the staff are outstanding. But our dinner was an uneven experience that left us less interested in coming back. While the salad appetizer was fresh and delicious, if predictable, the seared salmon was very small and not noticeably seared. It was also undercooked despite my request that it be medium well. The sautéd kale was perfect.
My husband’s French onion soup looked marvelous but he advised me not to even taste it because it was too salty. His hanger steak and frites were perfect.
My friend ordered the duck entree which was lovely but too small a portion. Her vegetable sides were artfully plated and just right.
And the skate special her husband ordered was sizable and delicious- but he spent a lot of time picking out the fish bones.
We finished up with hot tea. While the tea pots were generously sized, one tea bag got lost in the water and our teas were weak.
I do think La Sirene could easily up their game with a few tweaks. I was hungry when we got home and ended the evening with a frozen waffle. 😞
Wonderful French bistro.
Very chic & classic vibe.
Food taste tremendously!
Try the escargot for appetizer & the steak topped with foid grad for Entree! Delicious!!!
Happy to frequent this new addition to the neighborhood. Feels a bit “downtown.” Winelist is overpriced, but the food and service make up for it.
Neighborhood bistro gem!
Lovely, caring service with a good kitchen and reasonable curated wine list
Although I adore the authenticity of La Sirene as a rule...for brunch recently.... I thought there were a few missteps... staff too busy.... forgetting our requests.... and the food wasn't exactly as described.... but, it's still the most best French on the UWS... I think we'll stick to dinner and not for a holiday brunch...
Of course when I was able to round up the wait staff.... they made every effort to remedy the problem...
Because of a last-minute change in schedule, we shifted to being a party of four on Friday night. My three guests were blown away. One is returning to Hawaii today. The other two promise to become regulars at La Sirene UWS. The food was breathtaking, the service was excellent, the wines wonderful, and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. The restaurant has an air of happiness about it without ever becoming noisy and raucous. It's intimate and even romantic. Prices have recently gone up but the La Sirene UWS is well the price. Every table was taken. Reservations are highly recommended.
This is a lovely little French restaurant. I highly recommend it!
I would recommend with reservations re food vis-s-vis price.
We had a wonderful brunch -- bloody marys, egg white omelet, croque madame, fries, salad, coffee, decaf café au lait.. Service was excellent. We arrived late, a bit after 1 PM, and were never rushed or hurried. Total bill, with tax and tip, was under $100. The place is warm and friendly, a wonderful place for brunch.
