La Sirene UWS
Since May 2007, La Sirène remains an authentic French bistro that is a great place for a date or a nice family dinner. The restaurant style is French Semi Gastronomy, or "casual fine dining".
We are now open for Lunch and Dinner, and for Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30am to 3:30pm.
Please note: our Dinner Menu is not available during Brunch hours, except for Desserts.
We now accept Cash, major Cryptocurrencies and major CCs as payment.
Great spot. Warm ambiance although there is a lot going on, so servers don t have a lot of time . Great food.
Love this place. The service is personable and very knowledgeable, the food is always so delicious, and the atmosphere is intimate and classy yet relaxed.
The cabbage soup, the caviar and the cassoulet were great. I'll be back again, especially for the cassoulet. The wine, a waiter-recommended Bordeaux, was a bit young and didn't quite make it probably because of the short airing. The berry dessert with Chantilly cream was nice, but failed to be exciting as it lacked liqueur flavors. The service could have been a bit relaxed, but then it was Valentine's.
A surprise phone call from a visiting nephew and his wife led to a Sunday brunch at La Sirene UWS. It's my favorite restaurant on the UWS and they loved it as much as we do. We started with some remarkable crepes and moved on to wonderful egg dishes. I had an egg white omelet with vegetables. One of them had the Piperade Basquese, another had the eggs Florentine, and my spouse had the Oeufs Hollandaise au Jambon Madrange and we shared a bottle of a wonderful Sancerre. We all were ecstatic. I'd had the egg white omelette several months ago with a group visiting from the UK. Sunday's seemed twice the size and was utterly magnificent. The French fries that came with each dish were incredible. It seems silly to be ecstatic about French fries, but these were simply from heaven. I promised my nephew and his wife that the next time they were in town, I would take them to La Sirene UWS for dinner. This was a memorable brunch.
I met up with a friend I hadn't seen since high school by having brunch at La Sirene UWS. He's new to the neighborhood and I wanted to introduce him to my favorite UWS restaurant. I had the popovers, which were great, but I could only make it through two of them and took the third home. He had the onion soup -- which blew him away -- and an egg dish that he loved. I suspect that he will become a regular there. I already am a regular.
One of the worst Restaurant Week meals ever. Small, flavorless portions for appetizers and entrees and out of profiteroles and sorbets by 7:00! Our first time here when they had just opened was outstanding. The past two times have been dreadful. No more.
My husband had the cassoulet which he considered very good. I had the app steak tartare which was rather sweet, and I prefer savory. The gnocchi was quite disappointing; the rue was so dominant in the dish that I could not distinguish where the gnocchi was. It was a baked mush. Service was very nice. My cosmo was excellent. Beer was slightly overpriced for our neighborhood.
One of my colleagues and I have a tradition of having a Restaurant Week lunch, usually at a place with at least one Michelin star. This year, I broke tradition and brought him to La Sirene UWS. He was more satisfied with this lunch than with any of the Michelin-starred places we've been to. The lentil soup was magnificent, as was the croque monsieur. My colleague, a pescatarian, was overwhelmed by his fish dish. Special thanks go to our wonderful server and to the miraculous chef. This is a restaurant to cherish.
The food was great but the waiter not too nice. Very abrupt with his answers and did not take time to even answer when asked if they were any vegetarian dishes or if any dishes can be made without the meat. All that was said that " this is a French restaurant and we eat meat". The place is very small and lack of privacy. We have to move our table so the person eating next to us can go to the bathroom.
Brunch was fantastic! Amazing omlettes, indulgent fries, and wonderful service.
We had the restaurant week special and really enjoyed. We are new to the neighborhood and will make this a frequented place to fine dine.
Trying really hard but somehow misses. Too bad. why
A friend and I visited the restaurant during Restaurant Week. The menu was inventive, and the food was very good. Although the restaurant is small and the tables tightly placed, it was blessedly quiet. I'd be happy to return.
Hands down, La Sirene UWS is our favorite restaurant on the west side. The cooking is inevitably excellent. The only question is whether it will be even more excellent than before. (Hint: If there are specials on the menu, order them. I'll never forget the pasta with white truffles. Saturday night, the fish special was heavenly.) We went to celebrate a friend's birthday, Two of us ordered off the regular menu and I decided to test the Restaurant Week dinner -- an incredible bean soup, a wonderful filet mignon ($5 extra) and memorable croquembouche). My friends raved about the escargots and the pate that they had along with the fish special. The service is remarkable. Expert, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. Our server has remarkable taste in wine. He also has an incredible memory of what wines we've had in the past and isn't shy about making recommendations. When he does, take them. Finally, there is an atmosphere of happiness in the restaurant. It's relatively quiet but the joy is infectious. Go there and have a great night.
The cassoulet is wonderful as is the rabbit. Wine is a serous pour. There is a wait of almost a half hour for the cassoulet but worth it.
Great food and service.
Excellent authentic French brunch. The owner provides a warm welcome and wants to make sure you have a good time. A table with children beside us was curious what the pop-overs on the menu were, so after he explained how they're made, he then brought out a few for them to take home, free of charge, along with homemade jam!
Amazing service. Very attentive and friendly. We never felt rushed. Food was incredible. It tasted even better than the beautiful Presentation. We ate at the Brunch & Dinner menu. I highly recommend both!!!
La Sirene is as good a fine-dining experience in NYC as one can find.
The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Our waiter could have been more helpful but I think we worked it out in the end. The subdued ambiance of the restaurant made you feel as though you were in Paris.
charming atmosphere. excellent service. we loved the onion soup
Consistently excellent, friendly and great service.
Classic French food at reasonable if not great prices. It's had to find really well done classic French cooking at an affordable price, but this place comes close. Professional service and ambiance nicely balanced between bistro and neighborhood restaurant are also a big plus.
I like it a lot - have only done brunch, but the food was excellent and the service was good.
Outstanding food, great service. Recommend their delicious cassoulet, duck and rack of lamb! Great neighborhood restaurant.
La Sirene is our favorite restaurant on the Upper West Side. We've eaten there 15-20 times in the past year and now average going thee once every two weeks. We were there for a full dinner last Wednesday with two friends from out of town and they were blown away by the quality of the food and the excellence of the hospitality. We are used to the general excellence of La Sirene but last Wednesday, the quality of the cooking went to an even higher level. The chef worked miracles. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, very efficient, warm, and friendly. Our waiter said to me, "Last time you were here, you ordered X for your wine. For this meal, I recommend Y or Z." We said that Y was out of our price range for that night and he said, "Then take Z. It's a very good wine for this meal." He was right. How many servers remember what wine you ordered two weeks ago? La Sirene UWS is a special place.
Classic French meal in a cozy and quiet UWS corner space. Great onion soup and pate, nicely prepared duck and lamb rack! Excellent attentive service on a cold winter night made for a nice evening.
First time here and we loved it! (We live on the UWS but tend to go to the Village/downtown to eat.) We’d walked past La Sirene and not noticed because it’s low key. Then saw some good reviews and decided to try it for birthday dinner. You truly feel like you are in a French country restaurant. Very nice staff. Excellent food across the board. Husband had warm pear salad and I had country pate. Husband had the cassoulet (u need to read their funny description) and we agreed it was better than we’d had in France...and large....really good. I had fish - very good and lovely sauce tho wished I’d ordered cassoulet too. Pretty crowded on a Monday night and apparently booked on weekends so we were slow to find it but others have. Along w Amelie and Kouzan this is my new fave place on UWS.
lovely, charming with a warm welcome. food was delicious, service friendly and attentive while allowing for us to enjoy the meal and chat. The Chef came table side to say hello and that was a nice touch.
Excellent, friendly, helpful service. Beautifully presented, delicious food. So glad that friends recommended this neighborhood gem to us! Will definitely return for special occasions.
Nice atmosphere and great background music.Food.is quite good, classic French. But prices are a bit highr than other restaurants of the same quality.
This place feels like you are on a train to Nice. Luggage racks & pictures.
Small but so comfortable. Intimate.
I order a few appetizers instead of a main CV purse. The salad is fresh w/ a great lite vinaigrette. The roasted pear w/ gorgonzola is lite and tasty and the paté champagne very French.
Martinis done just the way I like dirty.
The wait staff ever there for you.
Luv the place!!
La Sirene has become our favorite restaurant in the Upper West Side. The food is wonderful and prepared with great care. The service is efficient, friendly, and knowledgeable. Prices are quite reasonable. We've eaten there over a dozen times and have never had a disappointing dish. As one friend said to me, "Every dish is prepared with love."
We spent New Year's Eve there and it was perfect for us
A romantic dining experience for those who enjoy delicious French cuisine and gracious service. For groups of 4 or 5 there’s a unique dining space overlooking the main floor of the restaurant — your own private perch!
Would have given 5 stars but tables are too small and too close together, plus it was a bit too dark. Appetizers and entree were excellent!
Marvelous food paired with first rate service. Had a nice romantic dinner for two. The rabbit was particularly good!
Wanted to try the UWS location after having had good experiences at the SoHo restaurant. Most menu items the same. We all had the very good rabbit. Friendly, helpful staff. They could increase the lighting at least a little--it's a bit too dark.
Quiet and cozy make this restaurant different from most others on the UWS. Comfort French food and very nice waitstaff.
