Fantastic authentic meal with extremely attentive staff. Smaller space, but extremely well done. Loved the ambiance of the place and enjoyed a great meal wine pairing.
It is a very small restaurant but the food was absolutely delicious. We had the escargot, ravioli, and steak tartare to start. As our main course we had the hanger steak and the seafood pasta. Our servers were very attentive and made sure our water glasses never ran out and that we always had bread. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Very nice dining experience
B y o b on Sundays love that
Just a strange ending
Apparently we got the wrong check and after we paid it we were approached and told we were to pay the difference my husband doesn’t look at bills he just pays them so we were clueless it was just a weird ending to a great experience this was a re-visit because our first experience was so positive it was just a mistake when my husband returned to the restaurant because he had already left to get the car the restaurant did the right thing and said no you’re good I think it was the $50 difference I would return to the restaurant it was a little embarrassing since my sons girlfriend was with us but We chalked it up to a simple mistake I would go to this restaurant again
La Sirene is one of our favorite restaurants when we visit NYC. The food is always to die for and just enough portions are served. We would recommend this restaurant to everyone who visits NYC.
One of my favorite French spots in the city. Second only to France.
Exceptional food and service!
Too long for my return visit. Won't make that mistake again. Delicious French in a cozy environment. Exceptional service.
I’ve never really experimented with strictly French cuisine other than french fries LOL, but this place was absolutely phenomenal! I brought my wife there for her birthday who has been badgering me for at least 10 years to go to a French restaurant so I looked up a couple places in the area and this place had high ratings, so I figured we would check it out. And I must say I am very highly impressed, from the food, to the waitstaff, to the hostess. I absolutely recommend this restaurant. I had the fillet and my wife had the rack of lamb, dynamite! And I would highly suggest the house Bordeaux wine if you’re into that sort of thing. Cheers
Food was ok. Apps were pretty average. Cassoulet good but everyone else’s entrees were “fine”.
Good food , good service...was a little surprised to find that the sparkling water was $14 a bottle. While I understand the need fr a markup, this was a little absurb.
Love the duck breast with cranberry sauce!!
La Sirene had a special menu for Valentines Day. Four wonderful courses. Started with salad which had the best peppery vinaigrette dressing I have ever tasted. Next I had the goat cheese tart and my husband had escargot. Main course, Filet Mignon with fois gras, hubby had rack of lamb. Dessert- lava cake with coconut sorbet and the best profiteroles. French Bistro music. Great staff. We had the perfect evening
Booked this restaurant for an early Valentine's dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed the food. All of it was outstanding as was the wine. The pate and beet salad starters were excellent, followed by the duck and tournedos rossini as mains. For dessert we had a strawberry pastry dessert and a banana brulee. Again fresh, delicious, outstanding. Excellent wine selection as well. Would love to eat here again.
The food was great and the service very friendly and responsive. The ambiance was happy and relaxed. The bread was fresh and soft, and good in melted garlic butter. The curry and cream mussels appetizer was amazing - lovely flavor and fun to eat. The filet mignon with full-bodied fois gras was prepared just right, and delicious. The sides were good (sweet potato, string beans, carrot puree, mashed potato, simply done), and the wine was good. We finished by sharing a big profiteroles, refreshing and nice bitter chocolate, and rolled out into the night. A thoroughly nice evening!
We received a call the day of our reservation asking us to change our time to later to help them out. We arrived approximately 10 minutes early for our newly agreed on reservation time and were aggressively told to come back in exactly 10 minutes... not a great start. The location is small and cramped, staff don't seem to care that you have to practically crawl over the table next to you to get into your seat. There were a few standout dishes served, which were the ravioles with truffle and the Cornish game hen (which was actually standard chicken), but were full of flavor. The French onion soup and steak were pedestrian. Desserts were altogether lackluster... including the canned whipped cream instead of taking slight effort to make their own. Had all of our dishes had the same flavor consistency of the standouts this place would be a neighborhood gem.
Met up with my grown daughters for dinner. We thought French food would be a nice change. This restaurant was close to where two of us work. We went during restaurant week and got the fixed price menu. The food was tasty and the portions were sized right. Would have like to have seen more French wines on the wine list. We would come back. Bon appétit!
I came in for lunch during restaurant week and the place was extremely quiet and the staff was very kind and accommodating. The food came out quickly and was delicious! If you like French food I definitely recommend.
Came to La Sirene with my girlfriend for restaurant week and wasn’t disappointed! The food was absolutely amazing. We each had our own appetizer and it was the perfect amount of food. If you came here with someone else and we’re looking to split the app, however, I’d imagine you’d end up still hungry due to the small portions. Service was a bit slow but still great.
For food I’d recommend the ravioli for an appetizer. The hanger steak was also delicious but I’ll admit the Cornish hen smelled so good. The banana creme brûlée was also tasty!
Amazing food amazing service it’s a small space but the food makes it all worth it
The Staff here is Wonderful! The food was too. It is very small and the tables are close together but we New Yorkers are used to that. The meal was so good that I want to go back very soon. The Staff is Friendly and gets an A+ from me. There was only one thing that I did not like about our experience. It is a BYOB Restaurant. They charge a very reasonable fee, $10.00, to uncork your wine. The problem for me is that for two people you can ONLY have one bottle of wine. I brought two and offered to pay more to uncork the second bottle. They just will not allow more than one bottle for two people.
Ordered the Prix fixed menu (NYC restaurant week) and a glass of wine. The dessert was delicious! Everything went well, small and nice place to eat.
Restaurant week menu was a good deal. Food was delicious, portions are good, service was fast and pleasant. We tried steak tartar, pork, mussels were excellent. Caramel dessert was awesome.
Great meal with Restaurant Week. Had lunch today and already booked to return weekday for dinner. Great country style comfort French food. All prepared to perfection. Banana desserts and ice cream seemed to be homemade, not too sweet- was divine. Great little neighborhood gem - we actually came from the upper westside.
Very crowded, they arrange the tables so you have no room to move all were squeezed, no privacy, too noisy, food was average nothing special, the pate was no closer to a pate - very disappointed will never return.
Poorly washed water glasses . Fork and knife placed on the actual table. How is that hygienic ? He place feels squashed , small and too many people . Food served in diner type plates . Poor diner style food presentation . You pour your own water that stands in the table .
Overall , would not recommend .
Restaurant was very crowded had a reservation for 6:45 they called day of to push reservation back to 7. Told us to be on time we didn't end up getting seated till after 7:15. Our waiters were very good, took a little while to get the check but overall good service. Food was amazing.
The restaurant week menu wasn’t worth it. Desserts were packaged goods quality.. other dishes weren’t that impressive.. I had the salmon it was over cooked and dry. Service was rushed.
Great experience . Only comment was the onion soup, rosemary and other herbs was overwhelming. I am in constant search for good onion soup comparible to Paris experience
La Sirene was truly excellent, from the food to the service. The story of Chef Didier Pawlicki is shared within the menu, and his restaurant is warm and welcoming. For restaurant week or any other time, eating here is a must for French cuisine. Whether you indulge in the banana brûlée or are enjoying the gnocchi with black truffles and a glass of wine, your waiter will likely ask you if you want to scoop up the remaining sauce or last bite (as you should)!
Everything was fantastic: Food, service, atmosphere. Might be a bit too noisy if you are on a first date, but overall perfect for any occasion. Love it 😍
This place is insanely cute!! It's right at the central location around west village and this place is like a cozy gem. Not like all the fancy/ luxuriously decorated, La Sirene goes for a more home style dining experience. The place is quite small and crowded but everything is just as comfortable. The food is simply amazing, everything from appetizer to dessert is awesome. Overall a great dining experience and would definitely go back! a quick note, they only accept american express and cash, but for a noble reason!
Really enjoyable, friendly staff, ample food. Felt at home.
We had dinner for our anniversary here and it was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the ambience was just perfect. Will definitely be back again!
Braised rabbit was delicious, service was good, place is cozy(think elbow room), price was worth it during restaurant week. Overall very nice
The food is wonderful !
And very good service.
I highly recommend this place.
My dining experience at La Sirene was so disappointing. I had high expectations based on the very positive online reviews but it was a terrible lunch overall.
My friend and I went for restaurant week. The menu was appealing considering its price. The food was awful, and I am not exaggerating. The beet salad was difficult to eat...the beets tasted like they were coming from a can. The brie was hard and tasteless. The presentation (of all the dishes in general) was poor. Our main courses were very disappointing as well. The pork dish had nothing special to it. The cranberry sauce tasted like it was coming from a jar. My gnocchis were not tasteful at all. The bechamel sauce was way too thick and the gnocchi too soft. The desserts were more than mediocre. They called a basic flan "banana brûlée". This was not a creme brûlée...just a thick cold flan with pieces of bananas inside. The choux of the profiteroles was hard and didn't taste like they were fresh and homemade. The vanilla ice cream had a weird texture and the chocolate sauce was too bitter.
The decor was tasteless, it didn't seem authentic and the service was not memorable. They only take American Express and cash which is quite inconvenient. I know what good French food tastes like because I was born and raised in Paris. I will not go back and will not recommend this restaurant to people who want to have a French dining experience in New York.
It was an amazing experience!!! Food a was delicious and service was great!
The restaurant has different sections for different people. The section we sat were dark, next to restroom and kitchen without white table clothes. The weirdest part was No White People. They all sat in the main dining area with nice tableware and table clothes. If you are an Asian, be aware that you won’t get the same treatment.
It was supposed to be a celebration for my son and myselfs’ birthdays, we put in our request but the restaurant didn’t even acknowledge at all!
Escargot and hangar steak are highly recommended. Banana brulee is also a good treat!!
I experienced the worst dinning experience ever. At first They lost my order sheet so i had to wait for first dish for a long time. the salmon’s smell was terrible. Even I didn’t have my dessert because they did’t care about my table.
