What Insiders Are Saying
La Sirène has changed a bit over the last few years, but this French cult favorite in a strange part of SoHo is still pretty damn good and pretty damn authentic.
Everything about La Sirène was fantastic! The service, food, ambiance was top notch. Will definitely be back next time we are in NYC.
Amazing as always!
I absolutely love this place!!! My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and it’s our 2nd time visiting. From the hostess to the wait staff , everyone was courteous and most importantly very clean and professional. Mussels, lamb, hanger steak and the croqeumbouch ... top notch !! Can’t wait to come back. U won’t be disappointed!
Wonderful food and service.
The food was amazing! The seafood linguine was the best I've ever had, no joke. Will come back!
Food was excellent. We were surprised to have a lovely platter of vegetables served with our entrees. Restaurant is tiny and and was only half filled but one table of four was very loud. Otherwise it would have been a quiet evening.
The food was delicious and the portions larger than most French restaurants. There was some delay in the servers taking our order but they made up for it by giving us two free complimentary desserts. The space is very small so we did hear neighboring table conversations. It’s a nice little spot that’s more unique. It did seem that everyone was on dates, a few on double dates and some might have been more clandestine if you know what I mean.
Everything is great. Food is good not only entree but complementary bread and side vegetables. When I dropped a piece of escargot, staff and customers next to me said to me that No problem, and I was able to enjoy my dinner. I love this restaurant!
This restaurant was a true find. What a gem. The cassoulet has been rated amongst the best in the city and it didn't disappoint. They have a french point of view and everything was absolutely delicious. The staff is warm, friendly and super accommodating.
Food was delicious and the service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive on the meal. Kassoulet was rich and delicious.
I love this restaurant. The food and ambiance is wonderful. It's a great place to go for conversation and good dining. Very cozy for a cold, wintry evening.
We booked at 5 pm and had the place to ourselves for almost an hour. The server was very attentive and made great suggestions. Service was spot on. The escargot, ravioli, hangar steak, and rack of lamb were divine! It was a little expensive but definitely a great splurge for our anniversary. They even sent us a free dessert unexpectedly! It was the banana créme and delicious as well.
Food is very good, definitely will come back with my girlfriend.
Lovely Christmas day meal, excellent food and choices, well priced, and very good service. This restaurant is on my favorites list.
The food is incredible! Wish they spent more time perfecting the atmosphere and improving the service to make the place spectacular. It’s a shame as it’s not very busy, most likely because they play French rap music and make the service too casual.
Very good food, just a bit limited space..still love it
Arrived early for reservation, asked if we were ok with table in side room, took look at table but didn't like it, they do fondue and such in that room and quite honestly didn't like the smell so did need to wait for table in main area. Tables are very small and tight. Was informed that it was cash or AmEx only, thankfully had cash but told there was an ATM right outside (kinda off-putting if you ask me). Waiter was good and attentive. Cassoulet was really good. Wife's Cornish hen was good. Very good wine list with some reasonable wines on it.
We came for the cassoulet, which did not disappoint, but every dish was excellent.
Always excellent. My favorite french restaurant in New York, hands down.
Wonderful experience and fantastic food - would return to explore the menu more!
The wait staff spoke English and French and the menu was also in French and English. Unlike other French restaurants I've been to, this was not pretentious. The wait staff was genuinely helpful with the menu and took time to help us learn a little bit of French too. The food came out of the kitchen quickly and piping hot. It's a little bit of a cab ride from the typical tourist spots in Manhattan but the pricing was very reasonable which made up for that added cost. The food was delicious. We ate out every meal for four days while in NYC and only Tavern on the Green and La Sirene are worth writing about.
Food was good, not outstanding.
Female at the place seemed annoyed
What is not wonderful about dining at La Sirene ?
The French cuisine is freshly prepared with that home cooked appeal, providing that you grew up in France, and is sumptuous ... appetizers , entrees , and desserts , all well worth enjoying again and again
The service is as friendly as if you were visiting friends or close relatives for dinner
The atmosphere is intimate , cozy, and romantic
And the value for the meal , is remarkable for a restaurant in Manhattan.
I love love this place but the server who I saw him first and took our table at that night wasn’t so friendly. I was surprised as it was not like that most of time I visited there..
Also the Escargot was a bit overcooked..
Second time there. Really a hidden gem. Food is consistently excellent.
Wonderful food and ambiance. Excellent service too. Try the pear with blue cheese. Delicious.
Living in NYC it's hard to be impressed, and find restaurants that stand out. Well, La Sirene delivered! The food was some of the best I've had, and extremely authentic French cuisine. I took my husband here for his birthday and we had the perfect evening in a non-trendy scene that was focused on serving up top notch food and wine. The filet with foie gras is a MUST HAVE.
Everything is perfect
La Sirène was a nice find for good french bistro fare, but disappointing in many ways. The service was perfunctory, practically non existant. The ambiance was forgettable.
The food was good. The house made foie gras was very good, served with fruit accompaniments a nice foil for the silky richness of the foie gras. We had the quail, which was just ok, and the duck breast. The nicest thing was the tray of four vegetables served with the main dishes. We shared the profiteroles for dessert. A very large portion easily serving two or three.
La sirène is not a restaurant gastronomique and the prices reflect that. Very reasonable prices. The food is very good cuisine bourgeoise, home cooking, the decor and service non existant.
Sehr schönes, kleines Lokal mit Charme. Hervorragendes essen. Kann ich nur empfehlen. Die Schnecken und das Filet waren sehr sehr lecker! Ein muss!
Steaks were good as usual. Rack of lamb a bit fatty. More than usual. Service was good but not great. Nonetheless value is good and prices fair. Deserts excellent. We'll be back.
First time ever having Escargot and it was absolutely fantastic. This restaurant carries an amazing wine list as well as top quality food for a great bargain. Would highly recommend 10/10.
My wife and I got engaged here 5 years ago and have been frequenting this establishment every year since for our anniversary. The staff are attentive and genuinely warm and friendly. The food has been consistently superb on every occasion to date. We love this restaurant.
Excellent food and service, top notch. Four gras was outstanding!
We had a wonderful evening thanks to great food and service. A friend who had never been was truly impressed. The tournedos and Cornish hen were spot on, as were the trays of vegetables that are served with every entree and the totally decadent profiteroles we had for dessert.
Great food! My husband and I got the Duck and the Lamb and they were both delicious, as well as the mini ravioli appetizer.
The horrible noise level spoiled everything. I had a sore throat the next day from trying to be heard by my friends throughout the meal. I enjoyed my food a great deal. The roasted pear and blue cheese was delicious. The tournedos Rossini could have better foie gras on it. The croquembouches are truly memorable. But the wine list is only so-so. It was hard to connect to the server due to all the screaming around me, often by people yelling into their phones. Hardly elegant. It's a shame. La Sirène could be so much better than this.
Creole mussels were amazing!
2nd time dining here and such a warm place!
