   There are always kinks at a new restaurant, but the food is thoughtful & tasty. The staff is responsive, unusually caring and overall quite outstanding. It's a fun ambience; the restaurant is inside, at the far end of the lobby and bar. That allows open sight for people watching to the hotel's entrance, proving energy without a lot of noise. If you have Apple Pay you can prepay the valet who'll have your car waiting outside when you leave!

   It’s rare when a restaurant rates 5 stars lately. But, my oh my, La Serre deserves every sparkly star. From the gorgeous art-deco ambience to the sleek cocktail bar set inside The Vanguard Hotel, this elegant space blows you away with its main attraction: the cuisine. We enjoyed the steak tartare, lobster spaghetti, wild mushrooms, and their portioned-for-two crème brûlée. The Cote de Rhône was lovely. Extra points for our attentive server, Lauren, and convenient valet parking! We’ll definitely be back soon. Chef’s kiss! 😘

   Off to a great start! Wide-ranging menu, artfully presented plates, and tasty preparations. The staff are eager to serve. Alex, the manager, has the place in spot-on shape. Chris, the bartender, makes memorable cocktails. Highlights are the large shrimp in the shrimp cocktail, the artichoke frites, the perfectly dressed house salad, the whole branzino, and the burger. Other dishes were top notch and we’ll be back to try more. They call it a French brassiere — I wouldn’t say it fits that appellation. I’d just call it an excellent restaurant… and one that is a great addition to Ann Arbor fine dining.
