After opening in March of 1996, La Scala has transformed itself and undergone many changes over the years! La Scala now features a mix of local and seasonal cuisine with traditional familial influences. These influences begin on the Isle of Capri and journey to all her Mediterranean neighbors. But that’s not all…we strive daily to keep our menu fresh and original in concept and execution. Our waiter was manic! He seemed to be on drugs. His behavior was odd. The service was poor. The food was horrible. Our guest’s pasta was crunchy and had to be sent back. My husband’s salmon and my ravioli were so salty that it was terrible. Both dishes were briny! The Burrata appetizer and pear salads were good., but the service and the entrees ruined our experience.

We have eaten here many times and every time it is out of this world delicious. My husband and I have eaten at many upscale restaurants in Charlotte, where we live, and La Scala sits right there with them. That’s why when we are in Rome, we have to eat there!! We love it and you will too!!

It is always a pleasure to dine at La Scala. I follow a low carb diet but I break when dining here and usually have a pasta dish (this time it was Papa Piero's) as well as the warm burrata with grilled garlic bread! Great choice of appetizers which can sub for an entre when combined with a salad or a soup.

Delicious! Perfect portion sizes, perfectly seasoned dishes, and varied menu with very good prices, especially for the quality of the food! Best polenta we have ever eaten! Attentive, friendly service without a single "absolutely " or "perfect" (let alone ten or more of them); just genuinely nice people doing a great job. We will eat at La Scala whenever we are in Rome!

A wonderful evening with friends: lovely atmosphere, outstanding service, and fresh, delicious salads and entrees. Our waiter knew the menu and how to recommend items to us. His service was attentive but never intrusive. Excellent choices for wine by the glass. Menu items were creative and beautifully presented. Portions were generous. Great place to unwind and visit with friends.

Food was outstanding. They had no fresh catch up the day which was on the menu, and were out of another item, which we wanted. Would have been nice to know that in advance, rather than when we tried to order them. Also, we ordered two sides and they never showed up so had them cancelled before the check came. When we got there we were seated and everything was going well. Our server came by to get our drinks. Service seemed to take a little while. We got our first round of drinks and ordered an appetizer. Then we ordered our dinner. Our second round of drinks took a noticeably long time to get. We both ordered the crab stuffed flounder which automatically came with mashed potatoes and another side. I chose Brussels for mine and he chose the roasted cauliflower. Our server brought our entrees and my Brussels and assured us she’d be right back with his cauliflower. About 6 minutes go by and we don’t see our server at all. I finally see her come into the dining room again but she didn’t come by with our other side still. She comes in and out a total of three times before I waved her over to our table to inquire about our mystery missing side. At this point we are both more than halfway finished with our meal. The side never comes. Eventually a manager or possibly lead server stops by to apologize for the missing cauliflower. They bring it out after I’ve asked for the rest of our food to be boxed up. They box it up as well to send it with us. We were not charged for the side. I am a server in a fine dining restaurant as well. My advice to the server and management, in an instance such as this it is always best to communicate with the table because what was happening for us is while we were waiting on this, instead of enjoying the very expensive meal that we just purchased and came out for we’re sitting here thinking where is the cauliflower? Why are they not coming back? Where is the server? Why are we not being communicated with about this? So instead of focusing on our dining experience we were focusing on that instead which kind of ruined the experience. If the server had come and told us that It was going to be a while for the side we probably would have chosen something else instead. Or at the very least not been there wondering what was going on.

It wasn’t really a good experience. This restaurant positions itself as the best in Rome, GA. This may be so, but the food wasn’t impressive. My veal saltimbocca was heavily over-salted. The same were “local mushrooms.” Burrata was OK, but unimpressive. Taken from Publix, I suppose. My wife ordered the trout. Very ordinary. We will not come again, because it was not worth money. Truth being said, I didn’t check the wine list.

We were hopeful for a great dining experience but unfortunately it was disappointing. Servers were very nice but overall food quality left a bit to be desired. My wife ate the pasta with meatballs, meatballs were dry and hard and the pasta sauce with very acidic. Growing up Italian in N.Y can sometimes make our Italian restaurant dining experience difficult. I had the pork belly appetizer it was sliced to thin and pretty much tasteless. For dinner I asked for the duck to be medium rare but unfortunately it was medium well at best. So inevitably it was chewy also. Not wanting to send it back we just chalked it off to a poor dining experience and a no second return.

La Scala is one of our favorite places in Rome. The food is outstanding with plenty of options on the menu. La Scala's cocktails are also consistently well made. The tables are a little close together so if you are seated next to a large party it can get loud. Servers and staff have always been knowledgeable and courteous.

Terrible experience. Something burned in the kitchen, restaurant was smoky. The smoked shrimp were mushy and talked like a dirty grill. The pork was over salted and could not eat. Service was slow and waiter disappeared for long stretches of time. Our last 2 experiences here have been similar. So sad as this once was a fantastic date night restaurant with amazing food

Here is the review I posted on LaScala Facebook page: Took my granddaughter to LaScala last night for dinner. It was excellent! The menu is so varied and the wine list extensive and very reasonably priced. I had the Duck with the Maple Sriracha glaze over perfectly roasted potatoes and tasty green beans. She had the Chilean Sea Bass. Both were delicious. This was followed by dessert...Key Lime Tart for me and Gluten Free Brownies (Flambe! They really set them on fire!) with three generous scoops of creamy vanilla ice cream. Yummy. We had the meatball appetizer which was very light in a delicious marinara sauce. Of course all of this was preceded by a Pomegranate Martini! It was a wonderful evening! I encourage you Romans to revisit this lovely restaurant. You will NOT be disappointed

Lovely dinner! Exceptionally good, fresh bread. Nice caesar salad. Pasta dish was outstanding and generous enough that half of it came home with me. Would not recommend the halibut; it was just average and there are so many other dishes to choose from. Finished with a “just right” key lime tart. Hope to visit again!
