La Sardine offers an extensive French wine list that is approachable but will intrigue even the most die-hard Francophiles. La Sardine has daily specials Monday through Friday that include half priced bottles of any wine on the list on Mondays, a $38 prix fixe dinner on Tuesdays, and dollar oysters at the bar on Fridays. In addition, La Sardine offers a happy hour Mon-Thurs from 3-6 with $1 oysters and wine and beer deals.

Group of six met for dinner on a weekday evening in February. We all thought that the French food was excellent (salads, entrees, desserts). Our server was helpful and attentive, without being intrusive. Great ambience and convenient location in Fulton Market. We will return.

La Sardine is absolutely one of my very favorite restaurants in Chicago. The food is always delicious and the atmosphere makes me believe I am in France.

We have been to La Sardine several times, have always enjoyed it, in all ways. Which is why we chose to
spend Valentine's day there. Disappointing. They added tables so it was super crowded, and noisier than usual. The service was slow, scallops were good but overly expensive (3 for over $30). One of the signature delights of La Sardine are their soufflé's. This night the soufflé was too crusty, almost burnt,
and very dry. Neither of us could eat very much of it. Seemed like it had been done too early then
had to be 'rebaked' We will go back one day, but, it will definitely be a while.
(The salad Lyonaisse was great)

There is no need to travel to France when this gem is open - consistent quality, delicious bistro fare, and notable wine/beer/cocktails. Friendly and kind staff that know their menu well and make your dining experience feel like it is your local french village "spot."

Lamb as main course during Restaurant Week was great! Always solid French bistro style food. Love it!

The duck was fatty and tough. I took two bites from different pieces and then the waiter took my plate. No offer was made to replace my main course. The escargot was good as were the Madelines for desert, but nothing in-between.

Again no sardines even though the on-line menu said they had them. Maybe they should change the name of the restaurant to San Sardines.

Waiter was very good, but the server gave the food to the wrong person twice (there were only two us us),
and my request to honor a birthday was ignored.

The food was simply wonderful, the items I had were from the restaurant week menu, so unfortunately I don’t know if they’ll make a reappearance on the menu - but the mushroom tart was amazing and the biscuits on the cheese plate literally melt in the mouth...

I will definitely return.

We lucked out going there during Chicago restaurant week and took the prix fixe menu which was a steal at $38.00. Very typical French bistro feel both in decoration and menu. The server was from France and very friendly as well as quite knowledgeable about the wines. We will return.

I went to La Sardine with a friend during restaurant week and had a very good fixed prix dinner which was a fantastic deal at $36 for soup, entree and dessert. I especially enjoyed the lobster bisque. The service was excellent and the room was quiet enough for conversation. I will be back!

This was my first time at la Sardine, although my friends go often and are delighted by the place.
I was impressed and delighted at the level of care with front of house, from being seated and attended to with such grace and charm to our wonderful and knowledgeable waiter who made the experience even more enjoyable.
We did the restaurant week menu and the mushroom tarte starter was outstanding and my lobster bisque soup quite good.
My lamb was very flavorful, although it was a wee bit dry in spots, but my sauce was fantastic. My companion had the salmon and it was a tad underwhelming and oddly not seasoned at all, although he adored the sauce that accompanied it.
We both had baked Alaska and it was fine, but not quite what I expected. I thought the meringue was gorgeous but the ice cream and center compote didn't thrill me quite as much.
But given the level of service and ambience, I most certainly will return and try some other dishes to compare.

All in all, I think it's absolutely worth spending some quality culinary time there.

Excellent food and excellent service - one of our favorites. At times a bit loud and noisy - so go earlier before it gets very crowded. The French Manhattan is excellent.

There is always something new and something I would never cook myself at home on the menu here.

I have never had a bad meal in well over a dozen visits.

It has become a staple for me when I travel to Chicago.

La Sardine is a classic French restaurant in every sense of the word. Their policy of half-priced wines on Mondays is in itself a great reason to go out on a Monday. Our last visit was not only on a Monday, it was also "Restaurant Week," meaning we had a marvelous 3 course meal for a great price, along with wines we typically would not order because of the high price-but at half price they were within reach. It is always a treat to eat here.

It was SO noisy that we seriously couldn't hear the people across the table from us. It just isn't enjoyable to be with people under those circumstances. The food was fine, the bread the BEST..but I won't be coming back for dinner again..just not a good place to go to with friends that you'd like to talk to.

We had selections from the Restaurant Week menu, and they were all delicious. The mushroom tart was flavorful and creamy; the lamb shanks with lentils were fork tender; and the baked alaska was a delightful end to the meal. The drinks were excellent as well. It's difficult to find a place that makes a good vieux carre--or even knows what the drink is. The ones served here are the best we've had. Service was also first-rate despite the restaurant being packed. The noise level was high, but that's to be expected on a Saturday night.

We happened on Restaurant week. The menu was amazing. Mushroom tart to start follows by leg of lamb with lentils and puréed squash. Dessert was baked Alaska and a cheese plate. All were very well done, but too much food. We started with cocktails and wonderful warm French bread with yummy butter. We then had a very nice Ste Julian with dinner Espresso ended the night Dan was our waiter and he does a bang up job. All and all a great night

This was such a treat! We didn't know about the Tuesday special but we took advantage of it, I had my favorite winter dish Cassoulet. It was amazing, I felt like I was dining in Paris without the language difficulty. My dinner companions also loved their choices. We will go back!
