The server was rude and took 10 minutes to come to our table after she greeted the table next to us who sat 7 minutes after we did. The food used to be so amazing but it was comparable to chipotle on a bad day. The food was cold over cooked and dry.
Best in Tyson’s.
It took us a very long time to order and then get our food. I ordered a lemonade and got it way after others got an alcoholic beverage. Everything seemed very slow for a Saturday lunch time.
Great love this place!!!
Food and service was wonderful. Will be back for sure
The place is not clean the drinks are overpriced and have no liquor in them don’t go food sucked not worth it
My husband and I were here last Saturday for dinner and a movie at Tyson's Corner Center Mall. La Sandy's is good, as far as Mexican restaurant go in Northern Virginia. The tortilla chips and salsa were fresh and excellent. Also notable was the watermelon agua fresca drink. The tortilla soup was delicious. The margaritas were fairly good, if a bit heavy on the lime. The rest of the food was good, but not in a distinctive way. It was more in the way of a good franchise restaurant. (If you've ever had tacos in a good small Mexican restaurant in Chicago or California, you know what I mean.) The red rice was dry and the black beans were mild. And many of the dishes features cheese or cream to a large degree, which is typical of Tex-Mex type food from bigger restaurants. Music was Spanish Caribbean, but fun. The waiter seemed fairly good but not prone to making any recommendations. Overall it was an enjoyable evening out, so I recommend this restaurant for Tex-Mex food in a fun atmosphere.
Everyone was pleasant and very helpful
Waitress was not paying attention at all. Missed guacamole, water, forks....
The food was fine, what you would expect.
We went for a business trip meal & were very pleased with the meal. The menu is small for most Mexican restaurants but everything we had was great. The table side guacamole was really good.
They weren't answering their phone so I could tell them we were running behind schedule. Nor did they call us to see where we were. Was very annoyed with the website to make reservations. The only plus is we got a dinner on them the next time we go. But the next time will be our first and last time.
While quality has gone down over the last few years, La Sandis is still a decent option for pre/post movie libations and apps. Recommend sitting on the “patio” and getting the wings and a marg.
We had a party of 12 for lunch that included two young children. The food was served promptly and all at once. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was excellent.
The chicken fajita I ordered was so bad, the chicken was so dry and overchewy, and tasted like cardboard.
Unfortunately we had a bad brunch experience last Sunday. We always have good food - but service was the issue. No one came by for water or chips for 20 mins. Then server was quick to answer that they were short staffed when I mentioned it. Then we had to go to the bar for several things and finally the manager came to refill drinks. She seemed irritated too - at us. So after 1 hr we finally said we were leaving and forget our food. Then it was finally ready. We are quickly as we had a movie to attend. They did not charge us but the whole experience was off putting. Too bad since we love the food.
I was expecting a very nice time based upon the near-celebrity chef owner and others' reviews: instead, our mid-week lunch was somewhat underwhelming.
The food was good enough alright, just not very good. As well, the service was only acceptable; as we arrived off peak, much more attentive service should have been provided our group.
In all, I do not see a reason to return, and suggest others consider alternatives.
Great Mexican food!!! I like the ambiance and the location was great to. The food was a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. And I love good food, so I don’t mind paying for it!! I will DEFINITELY be back.
Our server Shannon was absolutely amazing. Multiple times other wait staff had brought the wrong orders to our table that belonged at tables next to us and she initially caught the mistake, even when passing with hands full and corrected it. She engaged the kids at our table and made sure everything was all set many times.
The manager walked around and spoke to each table. He was right on top of things as well when the bar ran out of the drink we were having and gave an alternative at the same price even though it was a little more.
The only down side was those other wait staff that was not dedicated to our table stepping in when they obviously shouldn't have. One time they brought two alcoholic drinks and gave them to the 5 and 6 year olds, again immediately corrected by our actual waitress. And the other was bringing the wrong desserts for the kids, with again Shannon saw from across the room and came to correct it before the kids even noticed.
All in all a great experience. Even being behind two large groups everything came out in a timely manner.
Food was just all right, the drinks excellent.
Salsa watery; fish tacos ok but not outstanding;; refried beens and rice good. Overall disappointing. Just another mall retaurant after all.
Food was fine, service was fine but not exceptional. Value is poor: a basic Mexican dinner for 4 (no appetizers, desserts, or alcohol) at a shopping mall restaurant should not cost $90.
Too many things going wrong at this place. Uncoordinated, inexperienced service, mediocre food and drinks. Have given La Sandia multiple chances, but our most recent trip will likely be our last.
The food and service was great. will be back. The express lunch was a perfect choice for me and my guest we were I and out in under 500 calories!
very average Restaurant and with the bar sitting right in the middle of the restaurant it is limited to a very small open air area where everybody apparently wants to sit! The back of the restaurant it is not very inviting no windows, no view I can sell them be seen by the servers!
I always enjoy this place. Interesting menu, lots of variety and everything pleases.
A Mexican mall restaurant. Tiny margaritas that were more ice than drink. Guacamole mixed tableside with a friendly server. Delicious smokey salsa with tortilla chips was worth ordering again. Large portions for entrees. An average place for a meal when hankering for Mexican.
We sat on a table in the "patio" area that opens on to the mall. We both ordered from the specialty "mole" menu, and we were both delighted with our meal. My only complaint was that there was a large party inside (and they were setting up for another one, so we moved outside--but the restaurant next door had a gathering of some kind as well, and it was noisier than we would have liked.
Tasty fajitas. Pleasant service.
We were there on a Friday night. There were a bunch of people at the bar but not many at tables. We were seated and proceeded to have to wait for ten minutes or more to get the manager to notice that no one had helped us. As a side note, there were easily 20 waitstaff standing around. A woman (she never introduced herself so I don’t know her name) took our order. We waited quite a while for our drinks whiz arrived at the same time our dinners arrived. My mother’s shrimp enchiladas had 6 tiny salad size shrimp (about the size of a dime) that’s all. My pork carnitas had some hard pieces and a bunch of fat. The assistant manager came over and asked what was wrong. He then told us that there was not much he could do since the manager was not around.
It's a mall restaurant, so convenience is one of its hallmarks. The menu looked good and had something for everyone in our party. Free chips and salsa are a plus! My margarita might as well have been virgin, so that was disappointing. I ordered the salmon, and specifically asked for it to be undercooked/rare and it came out overdone and dry, really disappointed in the way the fish was cooked, but the flavors of the dish in general were really good!!!
Great food for an even better value. The service was good and the guacamole was even better. We love coming here.
Great food excellent service. My group enjoyed everything
The sampler was delicious and enough food for two people (we weren’t that hungry but still)
We ordered four different tacos and each one of them were really bland and boring without any flavor. The tortillas were stale and the chicken tortilla soup was incredibly salty. Service was slow and when we provided feedback on the food the server seemed confused and just took our plate away. I will not return to this mexican restaurant when there are so many better ones around!
If you have a craving for Latin food, then Sandia delivers. I've visited at least four times, this last time we had waiter problems- don't know if they just did not have enough, but it was hard to catch our waiter and I had to get up and go to the bar to get a glass of water. What ever happened to greeting your guests by placing water on the table first? Anyway I wish they would bring back the chicken with mole- that was a treat. The fajitas are good and I like their table salsa. The last experience was really marred by the fact that I had to serve myself the water.
Easy reservations for 2 at 6:30 on a Friday. Excellent happy hour drinks and menu. Happy hour till 9:00! Regular margarita $5 and "infused" margarita $6. Under half price, I think. Good strength and good taste. The infused tequila (I ordered serrano) had detectable picante but not overdone. Chips were fresh but apparently unsalted -- bleah. The red salsa had no bite at all and little taste. I asked for tomatillo (salsa verde) and it was good, very limey and a little zip. There the zip ended. Shredded beef soft tacos and shredded beef enchiladas were very bland, almost tasteless. Is the Northern Virginia customer taste profile that wimpy? Now on the positive side the service was outstanding -- our server Josh was excellent and earned extra. We hadn't visited for several months so maybe this was an off night in the seasonings department. We'll probably come back if only for the margaritas.
Server was EXCELLENT!
The food was good, as always, but I always have a problem finding exactly what I want. This is a modern Mexican restaurant so finding authentic Mexican is not what you would find there. I liked the server but she was not as attentive as I would have hoped but we were on the ‘patio’ and she had other tables inside. Noise on the ‘patio’ was loud since you are sitting in the mall.
Refried beans were terrible. I am afraid they were sitting around for a while before they served them. All the meals we ordered had refried beans that kind of ruined the dish. Service was very slow. The waitress did not keep our table clean. When we asked if there was any tequila in margaritas, because they seemed virgin, the waitress told us that it was happy hour so they intentionally use just a tiny bit of alcohol. That is understandable that drinks are cheaper so they should be smaller, but you can't serve people sour mix and pretend that's a margarita. Just make it smaller. Anyway, we appreciated the honesty 😂, she didn't really seemed to care. Poor experience overall.
