Margaritas excellent. Food was great. Service pleasant, but it took forever to get our food (we were there ahead of the rush, still many empty tables at 5:30pm).
Food is really good, and service is fast. We made reservation because tends to get busy on weekends
My friend and I wanted to go out for dinner and drinks after attending a conference. It was a Saturday night and a lot of the restaurants looked packed. I was able to get a reservation on Open Table and we even were seated 15 minutes prior to our reservation. Service was a little slow but the food was really good!
I had dinner with two of my friends and the food was great! The service was prompt and the margaritas were good. I had a previous experience years ago and was not impressed. However, they changed my mind and I will be going back again and again. I had the barbeque chicken with one of the salads and it was very good with the cilantro lime dressing. the guacamole was made fresh at the table and the salsa was also very flavorful. My friends enjoyed their tacos as well.
I will be going back to try some more dishes.
Great place to have lunch or dinner. It is always good when you don't have to yell at the person next to you when you are trying to talk at lunch or dinner.
Great Saturday night out after a movie! Although bring back the cinnamon ice cream - was our favorite with the churros!
Gave La Sandia two stars on the basis of a good mojito and tasty appetizer: Queso Fundido. So probably a convenient place for happy hour if one works in the Tyson's area and wants a drink.
Otherwise, skip it.
Why? Had reserved a table for six many weeks in advance (mentioning "birthday" on Open Table) -- one of our party had already been admitted, but when reservation holders arrived, much shaking of heads -- no record! When the record IS found, we're shown to a table for five (not even set up) Except for the appetizer mentioned, all the food was bland (for Mexican food!) and tasteless: street tacos, enchiladas, Pork caritas -- and most of all a mess of a burrito so huge it looked like something one would use for surgical practice. Everything served room temperature. No one of the party said "Uuum, this is good!" That tells you something; this group is easy to please.
Noise level was out of bounds -- how about using the decorative "panels" for noise abatement?
Have lived in McLean 20 years and always planned to try this restaurant. Now will never go back.
The margarita was good. Guacamole was standard. My enchiladas, companion’s steak tacos were just ok, not a lot of flavor. The fajitas were standard. I would go for the drinks.
Service was not well organized or thoughtful. Our order was messed up and the food was just “Okay.”
My short ribs were placed in my beans. My husband’s plate was missing the grilled jalapeños and he did not receive them until he was nearly done with his meal. If I had been given the opportunity, I would have ordered a margarita but my server never stayed around long enough to ask for drink orders.
They have the best frozen margaritas in the area. And the chips and salsa is great.. our server was very nice and helpful. The food was wonderful will be back
It was a birthday lunch. No recognition. Our server had a cold and kept touching her very long acrylic nails to her mouth. Side of guacamole was too old and avocado was almost still whole. Told this server and she blew it off, saying that “they do that.”
Can this experience be made better?
Customer service was not attentive for the price you paid. He kept forgetting our orders and we had to remind him multiple times.
Food was okay for the price you paid.
best happy hour place in the mall. happy hour goes till 9
The sitting wasn’t comfortable but the friendly service made up for this small shortcoming the carne azada was undercooked but good tasting. The carnitas a bit dry and unremarkable. The premium margarita was to die for as were the authentic hot pepper sauces, fried plantains & black beans served with the main dishes.
As usual the food was very good. We had a few issues with our service (attentiveness of server), but the manager was very responsive to our feedback.
Service was poor during a weekday lunch. Water was refilled at the very end, and I think 3 of us requested items that didn’t come until more than halfway through the meal. I think the waiter was friendly enough and nice but he disappeared and at the end someone else checked in on our table. Perhaps it was a shift change but management should handle this better. Food was fine and presented well but overall it was not excellent. With poor service I won’t come back.
The server was rude and took 10 minutes to come to our table after she greeted the table next to us who sat 7 minutes after we did. The food used to be so amazing but it was comparable to chipotle on a bad day. The food was cold over cooked and dry.
Best in Tyson’s.
It took us a very long time to order and then get our food. I ordered a lemonade and got it way after others got an alcoholic beverage. Everything seemed very slow for a Saturday lunch time.
Great love this place!!!
LOVED the extremely fresh chips and salsa. During your next visit to LaSandia, treat yourself to the Shrimp Fajitas - such an amazing blend of flavors and cooked to perfection. To round out your meal, add a Mango Margarita and Sweet Plantains. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Great service and a laid-back atmosphere made the experience even more enjoyable.
Food and service was wonderful. Will be back for sure
The place is not clean the drinks are overpriced and have no liquor in them don’t go food sucked not worth it
My husband and I were here last Saturday for dinner and a movie at Tyson's Corner Center Mall. La Sandy's is good, as far as Mexican restaurant go in Northern Virginia. The tortilla chips and salsa were fresh and excellent. Also notable was the watermelon agua fresca drink. The tortilla soup was delicious. The margaritas were fairly good, if a bit heavy on the lime. The rest of the food was good, but not in a distinctive way. It was more in the way of a good franchise restaurant. (If you've ever had tacos in a good small Mexican restaurant in Chicago or California, you know what I mean.) The red rice was dry and the black beans were mild. And many of the dishes features cheese or cream to a large degree, which is typical of Tex-Mex type food from bigger restaurants. Music was Spanish Caribbean, but fun. The waiter seemed fairly good but not prone to making any recommendations. Overall it was an enjoyable evening out, so I recommend this restaurant for Tex-Mex food in a fun atmosphere.
Everyone was pleasant and very helpful
Waitress was not paying attention at all. Missed guacamole, water, forks....
The food was fine, what you would expect.
We went for a business trip meal & were very pleased with the meal. The menu is small for most Mexican restaurants but everything we had was great. The table side guacamole was really good.
They weren't answering their phone so I could tell them we were running behind schedule. Nor did they call us to see where we were. Was very annoyed with the website to make reservations. The only plus is we got a dinner on them the next time we go. But the next time will be our first and last time.
While quality has gone down over the last few years, La Sandis is still a decent option for pre/post movie libations and apps. Recommend sitting on the “patio” and getting the wings and a marg.
We had a party of 12 for lunch that included two young children. The food was served promptly and all at once. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Service was excellent.
The chicken fajita I ordered was so bad, the chicken was so dry and overchewy, and tasted like cardboard.
Unfortunately we had a bad brunch experience last Sunday. We always have good food - but service was the issue. No one came by for water or chips for 20 mins. Then server was quick to answer that they were short staffed when I mentioned it. Then we had to go to the bar for several things and finally the manager came to refill drinks. She seemed irritated too - at us. So after 1 hr we finally said we were leaving and forget our food. Then it was finally ready. We are quickly as we had a movie to attend. They did not charge us but the whole experience was off putting. Too bad since we love the food.
I was expecting a very nice time based upon the near-celebrity chef owner and others' reviews: instead, our mid-week lunch was somewhat underwhelming.
The food was good enough alright, just not very good. As well, the service was only acceptable; as we arrived off peak, much more attentive service should have been provided our group.
In all, I do not see a reason to return, and suggest others consider alternatives.
Great Mexican food!!! I like the ambiance and the location was great to. The food was a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. And I love good food, so I don’t mind paying for it!! I will DEFINITELY be back.
Our server Shannon was absolutely amazing. Multiple times other wait staff had brought the wrong orders to our table that belonged at tables next to us and she initially caught the mistake, even when passing with hands full and corrected it. She engaged the kids at our table and made sure everything was all set many times.
The manager walked around and spoke to each table. He was right on top of things as well when the bar ran out of the drink we were having and gave an alternative at the same price even though it was a little more.
The only down side was those other wait staff that was not dedicated to our table stepping in when they obviously shouldn't have. One time they brought two alcoholic drinks and gave them to the 5 and 6 year olds, again immediately corrected by our actual waitress. And the other was bringing the wrong desserts for the kids, with again Shannon saw from across the room and came to correct it before the kids even noticed.
All in all a great experience. Even being behind two large groups everything came out in a timely manner.
Food was just all right, the drinks excellent.
Salsa watery; fish tacos ok but not outstanding;; refried beens and rice good. Overall disappointing. Just another mall retaurant after all.
Food was fine, service was fine but not exceptional. Value is poor: a basic Mexican dinner for 4 (no appetizers, desserts, or alcohol) at a shopping mall restaurant should not cost $90.
