The server forgot about us. From the moment our food came out we did not see him. We had to track down a different server to bring us water and the check.
We had reservations for 7:30. We walked in about 2 minutes early and were immediately told there was a nice spot for two upstairs by the fireplace (we were not given the chance to tell them we had reservations). Fireplace sounded nice, so we head upstairs. Its not on, we learn it isn’t working, and we’re pressed against a tarp wall letting in all the cold air. The fireplace secluded the table, and our server was not careful about checking on us. Twice, my husband had to get up to request another drink. Before entrees came, we moved to open seats at the bar due to being so uncomfortable with the cold. Food was good.
service was not good. food was tasty though but we waited and waited for our bill at the end.
Place was busy. Took a while to get served. Server was very nice. It’s beautiful inside. My date liked her food. I had chicken fajitas. They were eh. Very small portions and not very flavorful. Not looking to return.
We had Prom and it was amazing food and service !
Great experience, we’ll definitely be back!
The only downside is that it was really loud. But food was delicious!!
Usually great Mexican food. This visit the entre, street tacos, was not quite up to the standard of past visits, but were still good. Excellent margueritas. We love the salsa that comes with the complimentary chips.
Not impressed. Food was over cooked and dry. Highly overrated.
Went for Easter brunch. They’d
Advertised bottomless bloody Mary’s mimosa etc. However when they brought our first round they told us they’d run out of their BM mix. What? It’s brunch on Easter. Even with what I
Would assume was a full bar they were unable to make us another. My 12 yr old ordered the kids tacos but when bill came they charged us for
One kid order and one full size order. My other child asked what was in the omelet and was told maybe meat and veggies ... it was only shrimp. Good thing he isn’t allergic to shellfish When thy first opened they were great have gone far downhill since then. Disappointing experience would not go back
Off their game tonight. Usually very good and clean. Tonight food and service were average and restaurant and dishes did not seem clean.
Birthday celebration. Food was good but could have been served warmer. Noisy but overall fun atmosphere.
Meal was very mediocre, the fajita's were not on a sizzling plate and were cold, the carnita's had good flavor, but were luke warm, the veggie rellano was good. Salsa is bland, needs spice. The service was good, but the food was just not impressive.
I was disappointed. The food did not live up to the pictures on their website and the drinks tasted weak and mostly mixer. I would not recommend.
The food was interesting but not outstanding. Our server was very attentive and pleasant but was having some problems with the kitchen, such as leaving off sauce for an appetizer.
Wait staff was slow to take order. Food was cold and cafeteria style. The chile relleno was like a fried corn dog (crusted) undercooked chile. The waiter never came back to check on how our food was, (delivered by food runners). One of the managers came by after we to find out if we wanted another drink and didn't ask how the food was. Bad experience, won't be back. Too bad because they used to be pretty good, 4-5 years ago.
This is the only restaurant I've ever been to where reservations seem to have no meaning. Made reservations for 4 of us a week in advance. Checked in a couple minutes early for our 6 pm reservation. The people in front of us were walk-ins and were quoted a half hour. Started to get nervous around 6:20 when we weren't seated and the people next to us explained they had a 5:30 reservation and still weren't seated. At 6:30 we asked how soon it would be and the hostesses had no idea, couldn't even tell us how many tables were in front of us, but they would TRY to give preference to reservations first. At 6:45 as we were looking on Open Table for reservations of nearby restaurants that had availability and had to laugh as La Sandia was still advertising reservations available every 15 minutes. The hostess was quoting people 30-45 minutes to walk-ins still. At this point the lobby was packed with folks 30 minutes or more past their reservation time. Went down the street to another restaurant and was happy we did, this seems to be the only place in the area that hasn't figured out reservations. All the Park Meadows restaurants are crowded, but all the other ones seem to have figured out reservation timing long ago.
Ridiculous wait for service. Disappointing cuz food wasn’t that bad.
Great service and a friendly atmosphere.
I went to La Sandia as part of Denver restaurant week. It was my first time there. The restaurant's decor was nice. We got a seat by the window next to a floor register. It had been a very warm day and evidently someone forgot to turn the heat down. It was so hot. Twice we told our server about the heat. She wasn't interested. We ended up scooting our table out 4' from the wall. The menu for restaurant week looked fine until we got our food. A forgettable spinach salad, taquitos that looked decent but had no flavor, triple fajitas (chicken, shrimp, steak). Rubbery steak, undercooked, with a minimal portion. The last time I had fajitas in a Mexican restaurant I had plenty for leftovers. I didn't finish the flavorless entrée. Dessert was a Krispy Kreme donut, I'm guessing, with a little ice cream and whipped cream. Hard to mess that up. The marguerita was good. Salsa had a smoky flavor, but not my favorite. Sorry, I wasn't impressed and would never return Bad value for restaurant week, too.
I order el machete plate I ask for meat well done and the meat is raw
Everything about this restaurant is amazing, except the other diners haha. It was kind of hilarious; this was our second time to La Sandia, to celebrate our 4-year anniversary, but our first time to this location, and there must have been something in the air, but a lot of the other patrons were incredibly rude to the staff, who were very polite and professional even when they were being berated for nonsense or made to read the menu themselves because the lady at the table behind me couldn't be bothered to acknowledge his existence, it was disgusting and we left a handsome tip for that wonderful patient server. I loved our server, he conducted the meal at a perfect pace, gave us plenty of time between drinks, appetizer, entree, and dessert, I didn't feel pressured whatsoever and could actually make it through to dessert, which was something I don't normally do. And everything was delicious! Absolutely perfect. I was also dazzled by the artwork, I love the glass partitions and metal cutouts with insects and little flowers. Thank you for an excellent meal, and for having the convenient online reservation feature, that's quite nice :) I hope every night isn't so annoying for the staff there, it really is a great place, and it's unfortunate that some people just have no respect for the restaurant industry. I appreciate all of you very much!!!
Ordered frozen margaritas and first one was great. Ordered a second and server delivered on table. After looking at it, it was just on the rocks. I waited for server to return which tool a long time because they were very busy. Upon returning they said they would fix it. Came back with another on the rocks. Then waited again. This time my meal was finished and got a hold of a manager who informed me that the machine was broken. Really???? Poor service.
We went on a Saturday night and it was very crowed and noisy. We waited 20 min past our reserved time to get our table. Out table was more suited for 2 people rather than the 4 we had. Food was okay. The server did his best for how busy his section was.
While the $5 margaritas were good (a friend and I went for national margarita day) the guacamole and the churros were subpar. Our server was HORRIBLE. He rarely came by to check on us, let alone see if we wanted to order dinner or to see if we needed more drinks. We had to flag him down every time and he seemed less than enthused to be serving that night.
We eat out a lot and this was the least impressive dining experience in a long time! I have no desire to eat here again.
Great service and fantastic food. It was middle afternoon, so very quiet.
Everything was perfect the food not breath taking but it was good
We went for my birthday dinner and it was just okay. The lava stone bowl that the queso came in and the taste of the queso were the best part. The sauce on my enchilada was cold and the tortilla kept popping open so I had to eat the tortilla seperate from the meat. My boyfriend ordered street tacos and they were literally just a tortilla shell and beef with no toppings, with tomatillo sauce on the side. Definitely not the amazing meal I was looking for on my birthday:(
Decent food, slightly overpriced for what you get. They definitely need to upgrade their rice! It's super dry and flavor-less. Drinks are great too!
Had a lot of fun at the bar and met a fun couple.
The restaurant is beautiful and the ambience is nice. The chips and salsa were good, but all of the food after was a disappointment. Our meals were mediocre. The tacos were okay, but the beans and rice were so salty that we couldn’t eat them. The guacamole was bland, and after taking our orders our server went MIA until it was time for our check. We won’t be going back.
My wife and I had a dinner reservation for Sunday at six. When we arrived, the restaurant was closed early due most likely to the weather (very typical Denver winter storm...other restaurants nearby remained open.) We drove quite a ways to get to the restaurant. If they're gonna shut down early, they ought to at least make an effort to contact their internet reservation holders! In the words of our sh*%ty president, "Sad."
The appetizers were great. My son enjoyed his fish tacos, however everyone else at the table had a different experience. The combo platter was under cooked and bland. When we told the sever, he did nothing. Not even offered to exchange the meal. The chorizo burger was also bland. We were not impressed. So bummed!
Food was fine but the service was extreamly slow. Not busy in a Sunday night so no real excuse.
Server didn't ask for our drink order, just food, took ten minutes to get him back for us to order drinks. Ordered a $17 trio, chili relleno was rubbery and extremely dry. I liken it to a frozen jalapeno popper that was not reheated properly. No real flavor. Drinks finally came, after our food and my wife'sangrea was about 4 oz in total volume, for $9. Poor overall food, service, table wobbled and expensive. We eat out for. Third time there, strike three, never to return.
Excellent, Nuevo-Mexican faire. I highly recommend the Chicken Zarape and the Sweet Corn Tamal.
Have been to La Sandia many times since they have been at this location, this was the first time service was terrible. Our server was also bartender, which when he got busy-our service declined. Had to ask for our appetizer, which came just right before our food was served. Had to ask another server for food containers and check.
We had so much fun last night, we brought friends back tonight. They loved it.
