We were a group of four friends who had not seen each other for awhile. At first, we were seated right next to the entertainer, a pianist who was very good. As we were separated only by a half-wall, it was difficult to have a conversation. We asked to be moved further back in the restaurant and the staff obliged us right away. Two of us ordered the caprese salad, one ordered mussels and the other person ordered the Caesar salad, all were excellent. We all had the same pasta and loved it. The wine choices ran around $50.00 a bottle and the red we chose was not available, but the one the waiter suggested was cheaper and also excellent and full-bodied. This was the second time I had been to La Roma and returned because my first experience, for A Taste for Life, was so good. I highly recommend this restaurant which has undergone a major décor renovation.
Nice restaurant. Service was fast. However, the food was, for the most part, nothing special. Out of the three of us, one good pasta dish, two so-so pasta dishes, and underdone calamari. For dessert, excellent chocolate torte, boring tiramisu. Nice wine. We had to ask for bread (despite it being provided without asking to the table beside ours), and when it arrived, one of the slices was too stale to eat. Clean, rather mundane decor. Okay, but I would have expected more for the price.
Great experience and food. Excellent service and the wine was delicious.
Good restaurant for a diner with friends but notre enough special for a big occasion.
The service was excellent with a very attentive server. This was our second time at La Roma and the food was outstanding. We each had a different selection from the menu and everything was delicious.
The consistency regarding the food presentation and taste needs to be revised. The veal parm presentation and taste was just ok. As for the veal shrimp, it was very good and an excellent presentation. I cannot recommend this restaurant for these reasons and noise level. For the cost of this type of dinning one would except a less noisy restaurant.
I was very sorry to discover that the quality of the food was very poor. The mussel starter was disappointing as the mussels were tiny and overcooked. The pasta dishes were worse. They could not have been freshly made, one was barely warm with hard lumps of lamb in an uninteresting sauce and the other was dried out but covered with a sauce that surely came from a can. The management was kind enough to deduct the cost of the mains from our bill, but the overall experience was negative.
Menu has not changed for a while.
Parmigana veal was ordinary
Overall experience was very good, however, restaurant was very noisy and seating was crowded.
Our waiter was very good, however, the wait for food was very long and too long for my preference.
But I would try La Roma again for sure!
Very noisy, my pasta tasted like fish and the waiter grab the last piece of bread to put in the other basket
We had a large group dine at LaRoma following a business meeting. La Roma really did a great job of accommodating us by giving us a private dining room upstairs all for ourselves which was amazing! We had a few gluten free meals required and that was not an issue. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was very attentive!
La Roma is the perfect place to take a girl for her birthday or other special event. The staff are knowledgeable, the atmosphere is pleasant and the food it top notch
Staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive. Food was excellent! We even got a spot in the restaurant’s lot for our 5:30 pm reservation. We would certainly recommend La Roma to others and return ourselves. Noisy though. Need more soft sound absorption materials.
The service at la Roma is never pretentious - it timely, pleasant and warm. The wine selection ensures that there is no such thing as the “wrong bottle “ and the knowledgeable staff can help pick the perfect bottle. The food is delicate, creative and sumptious without trying to be a piece of art. The plates harmonize taste and presentation for the perfect dining experience. This is not a place where the chefs are just trying to showcase their artistic flare. I recommend everyone goes here for either lunch or supper.
We went there to support local restaurant event. We were seated worst table despite requests to move. Finally, decided it was intolerable and just left without tasting food. Not a date place ok for groups.
We took advantage of the limited-time 3-course "Presdelicious" fixed price menu. Appetizers, mains, and desserts were all first rate. Some items were traditional Italian comfort food. Others were more modern with interesting contrasts in texture and flavour. All were attractively presented, and the portion sizes were well chosen. We had plenty to eat, and nothing left over. With wine, coffee, tax and tip it came to more than $100 for a couple, which was good value for the quality. Service was friendly and prompt. We plan to return.
Our group of 6 family members had a wonderful evening at La Roma on a Tuesday night when their Tuesday "No uncorking fee" policy màde the cost of the night very appealing. The food was excellent and our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. Our group had a lively conversation throughout our meal but never felt like others were too close to overhear. This was a return visit after my first time visit with a friend last month and I plan to be a regular in future.
What a great little gem. The service was fantastic. The restaurant was very busy but the waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The food overall was delicious however we were disappointed with the tiramisu as it lacked the texture and punch of flavour we were expecting. My husband and I each had a veal dish and both were spot on.
I would definitely return without hesitation.
Food was very good and waiter was very nice. The only thing is that it was cold in the restaurant. So, bring a sweater or jacket. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
Excellent, food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be back!
This was our second time at this restaurant. We really enjoyed the first visit but I was a bit disappointed with the second. Service was wonderful but I found the food not as fresh or good as the first time. I actually was unwell later.
Very overpriced, food is average, pasta was undercooked and room temperature (for an Italian restaurant??), took over an hour for the main to be served, just nothing to get excited about at all!
Consistently great food. I liked the new items on the menu but server could have been better versed on the drink menu. Ambiance was great. A wonderful visit to LaRoma and I will be back!
Overall, it was a good dining experience. The service was a little slow. We had to ask for bread and had to ask someone else for container and to clear table.
We were seated by the glass patio door and it was a bit cold. The Chicken Marsala and Seafood Linguini were a little salty, but very tasty. The service ( Jesse) was fantastic. The wines by the bottle were a little pricey, but consisted of better quality varietals. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and I would recommend this restaurant.
Amazing as usual! Homemade bread and gnocci’s are best in the city!!! Amazing local family stop!
This is the place you want to go to for very good traditional Italian fare. The service is excellent, attentive, but we did not feel rushed. The general ambience was very good, apart from a table of six who were blasting their youtube videos on their phones. The server dealt with that very early on and the atmosphere returned to a cozy, pleasant environment. Had a very nice time, as did the three others that made up our party.
The offerings on the menu were varied and interesting, not the average everyday Italian fare. Unfortunately the sauces were too salty for our taste with both the Manzo and the Lamb Shank Risotto. Nicely prepared but too heavy handed with the salt.
Very disappointed with our New Year’s Eve meal. First, we were not informed of the special 3 course meal for New Year’s Eve when we made the reservation, nor was there anything on the website. Having to pay more money for apps and dessert when we did not plan on having either was quite disappointing. Then we found out that there were no salad options for an appetizer, also disappointing. We ended up choosing the calamari and lobster risotto balls. The risotto balls were fantastic, however, the calamari was mushy and chewy and the portion size was much smaller than the normal serving. Our main course, linguine pescatore was good, except the mussels were cold. Finally, dessert came, the chocolate and orange cheesecake. It was HORRIBLE. No flavour and a flaky consistency, not smooth. Our server was also awful. He never checked on any of our dishes until we were done and stood watching us/the room for about 10 minutes while our almost untouched cheesecake sat in the middle of our table due to our dislike. Overall an awful New Year’s Eve meal. Will be trying new Italian places in the future.
very pleased with this dining experience great service, exceptional food quality
Incredible service and a very comfortable dining experience. Great for a date night, solid food, a normal yet generous drink offering.
I had the Insalata di Mare for lunch (again). It was delectable and a great value. That dish, like everything at La Roma, never disappoints!
Love going there!! With my family and friends! great food! great service and mostly love the ambiance ❤
It was my wife's retirement dinner. We were greeted at the door with a smile. As our table wasn't ready, our waiter offered us the booth which was perfect. Food was great as was the wine selection. Service was excellent. Thank you for making her evening a memorable one. Cheers
Love going to La Roma with friends. Always treated so well by staff and owners of this family-run restaurant. Gracie!
Generally I have had a good experience at La Roma for good food and ambiance. Unfortunately this evening, the service of our main meal was significantly delayed, the linguine seafood dish was ordinary, and the chicken Marsala overcooked. The deepfried zucchini were very good and the bread served was warm. The waiter was attentive and polite. We were seated upstairs by the window and it was cold; despite letting the waiter know the heat was not turned up. Overall it was fair on this occasion.
most impressed with service from the resto- great attention to detail and never missed a beat-thanks
The authentic Italian cuisine is both comfortable and scrumptious - surpassed only by the exemplary warm service. A memorable experience each and every time!
The food and the location were excellent. The restaurant offers free parking which is fabulous on Preston street. The waiter was terrific, friendly, patient and always smiling. 🙂
We were seated next to a table of incredibly loud, happy people, but the food and the service was so good, we dealt with it.
