La Quinta Cliffhouse Ratings and Reviews
We were at a professional meeting in La Quinta this week and wanted to try a local restaurant. We were seated promptly at our reservation time and the staff seemed quite efficient throughout the meal. One comment was that one server was talking into a walkie talkie just before serving us. That should wait until you’re not about to serve someone. The waitress and sommelier were very good. Our meals were good although the prawns and orzo were only warm and not hot. Serving on a hot plate would have been better. We shared a chowder but it was hard to see any chunks of seafood in the chowder. It was quite flavorful though. The toffee pudding we shared was somewhat nondescript. Very light where a dense one would have been more authentic. Overall an enjoyable meal where nothing went wrong and we would probably come again but the menu items we chose could use a little tweaking.
Always good food. We were asked if we wanted to eat outside, but a little chilly so opted for in. Our feeling was that we were seated in a less than desirable location. Maybe because they wanted to fill an outdoor station or short of staff that night. Our waitress was a little “frazzled “, but could be due to her number of tables.
Everything was spectacular! So happy to have found this when searching top restaurants. Service was excellent, food delicious - even my two children were impressed by the unique atmosphere and food! We would highly recommend and most definitely return when vacationing in the area again!
awesome place! The bar had a great vibe. Even though the restaurant is huge it doesn't feel like a chain restaurant. Love setting built into a rock. The main dinning room is decorated in dim like and warm colors. The menu selection was excellent. We had the surf and turf which was a very good value. They brought me a huge piece of ice cream cake with hot fudge for my birthday.
It started off slow, but greatly improved. It seems they are training the food delivery personnel, as food seemed to be delivered to wrong tables frequently.
it was Surf n Turf night, I asked for a substitution on the protein and got it.
All n all, another great night.
Food was very good. We went early and had the sunset special with special pricing. Well worth getting there a little early. Service was very good. I think our waiter was Rafael. I would not go for the view as it sits low in the mountains and you cant really see a view. It is built right into the cliff but not very high. Would recommend.
Went with friends to celebrate their 44th anniversary. Service and ambiance (outside table) was excellently. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. I was the exception. The seafood chowder was truly excellent but my flat iron steak was undercooked (wanted medium) and was pretty tasteless with a cardboard texture. Overall, we were still pretty happy with the evening. We had a great time.
We go to the Cliffhouse usually for happy hour, but decided to try the fine dining. Raphael, our server, was excellent! There’s a January special of “surf and turf” - an 8 oz filet mignon & a 7 oz lobster tail with soup or salad, garlic mashed potatoes & vegetables. The filet needed more flavor, but the lobster was very good, as was everything else.
Had what I think is the most delicious Surf and Turf ever. The steak was cooked perfectly with a nice flavourful sear and the Lobster was tender and cooked to perfection. Good seasonal side vegetable items and just the right amount of garlic mashed potatoes. Service was professional.
We had friends from out of town celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary so we wanted to treat them to a special dinner. The Cliffhouse January menu is featuring a wonderful lobster and filet dinner so we had to try it. We ordered the special and were not disappointed! The food was prepared perfectly and it was delicious! The Cliffhouse ice cream pie was presented for the anniversary couple - it was huge! We four could hardly finish it.... but we did! Outstanding meal and experience. We will not wait for a special occasion to return. Don't miss this gem of a restaurant. We love their sister restaurant, Pacifica on El Paseo, also.
We had the January special of Surf and Turf. I am so glad I signed up for notifications and saw this. The portions were great and I think it was the best steak and lobster combo I’ve ever had. I prefer my filet medium well and it was so juicy. The wait staff was excellent and I think the evening manager came around to see how everything was. I felt bad for her because the table next to us was giving them a hard time about early bird not being offered after 5pm. She was so polite with them but some are set in their ways and can’t be appeased.
The restaurant management is "right on" with their service, organization, décor, lighting and staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our Sunset Dinners in your main dining room with fireplace. The food was excellent and great value. The table we were shown to seat for the two of us felt too small and we asked for a table for four. We were accommodated without question, as we arrived at 4:30 and the dining room was not crowded. The new table was much better with "elbow room" to move around. Also the restrooms were beautifully appointed and, spotless with nice lighting. The outdoor areas looked romantic and we will plan to dine there soon. The bar Happy Hour area was lively with excellent small plates and we have enjoyed that area as well on other occasions. Would definitely recommend to our friends and family.
This is our second meal at Cliffhouse and we are always very impressed with the food, the service and the atmosphere. It’s great to come to a place where you can carry on a conversation and not find the tables too close together. Our server was attentive and helpful with questions about the area, shopping and sights.
A very good dinner , seated side-by-side, at a table for 4. Had a short wait in the bar, but worth the wait. Very good food, varied menu (something for everyone) and service attentive and helpful. This is a very pretty restaurant and very friendly and efficient wait staff. Great bar. It a go-to place for the locals and we visit each time we visit the Desert 5-8 times a year. You should be pleased you made the venue your selection for an evening meal
Food was good but somewhat predictable. Service was excellent - attentive but not bothersome. We were celebrating an anniversary and they were very generous in providing a complimentary dessert. We were there on New Year's Eve and was hoping for a bit more of a party atmosphere - perhaps some live music - nada. That was the only significant disappointment; although we had a 9:00 p.m. reservation, we didn't even want to stay until midnight.
WE are always thrilled to dine at Cliffhouse.
OPEN TABLE sent me a bonus offer to dine elsewhere after, and although I tried to book Arnold Palmer restaurant through OPEN TABLE, your app would not let me do so. Accordingly, I called the restaurant myself, and we dined there last evening!!!
We had a group of 14 for an early dinner on New Year's Eve. This is our second year of dining at the Cliffhouse for New Year's Eve. I can't say enough great things about how efficient and hospitable the La Quinta Cliffhouse staff has been to us. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We will be back next New Year's Eve and any other special occasion we may have with our large group.
In spite of making an Opentable reservation with notes requesting seating for 6 including seniors, the restaurant held a table in a back room with virtually no lighting - so please, beware and bring either a flashlight or your cell to read the menu. Thank Goodness, their wine list was on a backlit Ipad. Too bad, however, that the first bottle of an overpriced a $48 rose wine arrived bad. The second, a different one around $60/bt was mediocre at best. The staff was overwhelmed and relatively aloof. The meals were overpriced as well. I guess bigger is more expensive, not better. However, the sea food Bouillabaisse-look alike was apparently quite good, if not a bit too rich in cream or butter. The steak with wild mushroom (not clear what made it "wild" other than price) was the best thing on the menu. Ribs were mediocre. Overall, OK place but sometimes it is better to stick to a place that is smaller and less of a crowded pressure cooker.
