La Quinta Cliffhouse Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful restaurant with amazing sunset views and character! We had the sunset dinner menu which had a great selection of tasteful dishes enjoyed with a nice bottle of wine. The service was incredible, fast and friendly. This was our second visit to the Cliff house and our second trip to Palm Desert. We will definitely return on our next visit!
We arrived for a 6:00 reservation and the restaurant was so busy we had a bit of a wait. However, the staff was so attentive, brought us a round of free cocktails, and kept us up to date on the progress of our seating. Very classy. All five of us had an excellent meal and free birthday dessert. I highly recommend The Cliffhouse!!!
We all had excellent meals .. my brother had the filet mignon (and it was free because they were buying the meal of all veterans), my husband had the pork tenderloin and I had the roasted chicken. The pork was rare and my husband asked that it be cooked to medium and they were happy to do that. We shared an ice cream sundae for desert and had a wonderful time.
Built into a cliff, so it is unique to sit outdoors. They also had heaters, however, they could have used a few more. Also, the floor isn't level, so your table and chairs sit at a slant, which is very uncomfortable.
This night there was a large party sitting close by and they were so loud that the four of us at our table could hardly hear each other. It would have been nice if a manager could have asked them to please quiet down as they were disturbing the other customers.
The Cliff House is in a great location in La Quinta—the right table will afford you a lovely view of the lights of the valley while you dine. The atmosphere is swanky, busy, crowded, yet elegant. Most of our food was delicious. The ahi poke was fresh and tasty, the shrimp pasta dish was hearty and good. I ordered the baked oysters, which were a disappointment: drowning in a mayonnaise-based sauce that was much too rich for my taste. I could barely find the oysters in all the sauce. Everything else was great. Service was impeccable and friendly. Get reservations, there’s a long wait otherwise!
Well, it was our first time there and we were all a bit disappointed with the whole experience. We were celebrating my birthday and brought friends from out of town with us. The food was definitely not worth the price, our drinks were just ok, and the waiter was distracted and always in too much of a hurry to care about what we needed. I would not recommend it and will not be going back.
Small wait despite reservation. Seating outside was nice although they sat 3 of us at a very large table. Service was hit or miss by main waiter. Took awhile to retrieve our wine, but noticed he was approaching table and turned around with wrong bottle. It was just a series of small things service-wise that detracted from the experience. Just expected a little bit smoother and/or polished service. Food was very good. Half off wine Wednesday’s provides a great value. However, our initial bill did not discount the $90 Pinot we ordered. The error was corrected but just another small hitch. Would consider coming back, but this desert visit was filled with better restaurant experiences.
Food was a bit of a disappointment for me. I had the organic mixed greens salad that sounded really good, but it had no flavour at all and all I could taste was the greens, and only the greens. The presentation of it was terrible as well. It looked like a heap of greens on a plate. I could not even finish it. Very boring. My husband had the paprika rubbed pork tenderloin, he said it was just ok.
I really expected a much better meal. Not sure if we'll be back.
We also watched as one of the female waitresses explained to tables that the much older gentlemen who was with her was her "trainee". We thought that sounded pretty rude and disrespectful to him. Felt bad for the guy... she could have just said he was helping her out tonight or something.
Great meal in a beautiful setting with very good service!! Great price for early dining experience. I think that had we been paying full price I would have knocked off 1/2-1 star because the value definitely influenced my overall rating. Would return and would again opt for early dining at a discount.
We have eaten at the Cliffhouse many times since we moved to the desert and always enjoyed the ambiance and the food. It was our go to restaurant for Birthday celebrations, but the last two times we celebrated a birthday there have been a real disappointment. Although we were disappointed by a previous birthday, we thought we would give the restaurant another try but were sadly disappointed. We had the BBQ ribs that were mediocre and the corn bread was two little cold muffins that were not even warm. The cole slaw was rather bitter tasting, so in all it was a disappointing experience. This is one restaurant we will cross off the list.
One of our party was served a tough cut of meat and they were excellent in bringing a replacement meal right away that had a very tender piece of meat and also brought complimentary desserts to the table. They handled an unfortunate situation exceptionally well. We were very impressed at their customer service.
Had a lovely table in the main dining room which is the nicest. Started with a baby kale salad that was really tasty with apple, pomegranate, & goat cheese. I followed with the seafood soup, sort of ciopino like and very well made with half a lobster tail, large shrimp and lots of scallops and fish in a tomato based broth.
