Great and fast service , friendly team, and food amazing.
If your visiting Montreal make sure you make it to La Queue De Cheval. The place is top shelf across the board.
Our experience was unbelievable. Meals were off the charts along with service
My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We were seated in the basement in the corner. Did not enjoy the area as there was a major draft. Had to eat with our jackets on.
Atmosphere and service were excellent. Waiters were outstanding once one was allocated to us and had our attention. Attentive without being overbearing or fussy and added some nice touches with their birthday choruses and the wine decantering at the tables. Food was very good overall. The side dishes were amazing and the steak was very good - I would not say it’s the best I have had, but cooked as I asked and I enjoyed it. Would absolutely go back and would highly recommend to anyone visiting Montreal.
Came here for a night out with the fellas and it was great. Met our nice hostess right on entry (She was from Marisca I believe) and then had a fantastic Ol' Fashioned crafted by Danny. Excellent Bartender. Tanya then chatted us up at the bar and took us to our table. Our servers gave great recommendations and the food was special. If I'm in Montreal I'm coming back.
Pre hockey game meal - noisy but delicious
This was an amazing experience. From Tania who welcomed us. Danny boy and Pablo who took care of us at the bar. Or our waiter Tom and everything in between. Amazing is not enough to say how happy we are. Ps....cheesecake is a must try!
This was our first trip to Montreal and we dined at Le Queue de Cheval based on a recommendation from a friend. The food was very good but not exceptional based on the prices. We both had steaks and I had oysters. Both were good. However we have had both of the same quality for a lot less money. The wait staff was attentive and the food was well prepared.
I've dined at QDC several times over the years. This was the first time in several, since they moved from the original location to the current spot, basically a block or so away.
Appetizers were tasty, but didn't astound us. Tuna tartare seemed overwhelmed by the sauce that it was served with, poured delicately on the outside of the plate. The steak, a 32 oz. cut shared by two, was cooked nicely. Something was missing. It tasted good, but like the appetizers, it didn't astound. For the prices, I sort of expected that "wow" moment during the meal. In the past, I had left hoping I would get back to the city soon with a visit to QDC. This time, I'm considering looking for a different steakhouse. Or, perhaps, I'll drop in for a few drinks and bites at the raw bar downstairs. That area looked impressive.
A small bone from oxtail in the gnocchi that almost broke the diner’s tooth.
Had a phenomenal experience here. the waiter and staff were above and beyond. The product that were offered for our dinner were showing before they were cooked to perfection. The Wagyu selection was impressive and amazing quality. Would love and will come again!
We came for the steak and the cheesecake - we were NOT disappointed!
Delicious steak. Worth the price.
Food was fantastic as always. Special thanks to Lambrose and his team for the impeccable service.
Food and service was great but management was yelling at staff and sending them home one by one in a very indiscreet manner. We paid $175.00 for a bottle of wine we later found out retails for $34.00. I understand restaurant mark up but that’s ridiculous.
My favorite restaurant. Worth the drive from Massachusetts. The steak never disappoints, and the service is top notch.
We had a delicious meal with top notch service for my son’s birthday. Sat downstairs in a quiet Center booth so we can see the whole restaurant They gave us rapini & his birthday cake slice on the house. My son & husband shared the 32once strip lion with the bone-in cooked perfectly to medium rare. The food was pricey, I.e. house mushrooms for $20 but this was a special occasion so we let that slide. Overall great attentive service
Charlie is the best waiter I have seen in a long time. Always serving from the left even if it meant walking a far distance to do it.
Vast knowledge of meal preparation.
I would only recommend this restaurant in Montreal for steak enthusiasts.
I took a client here last week and we had a very dissapointing experience. The steaks came out before we were finished our very boring and flavourless chop salads (which we only ordered because we were told the soup was too salty that day). I had a chip in my wine glass and instead of comping me for the wine the server just switched the glass and transferred the wine in front of me. The server poured sparkling wine into my client's still water. We ordered the chocolate cake which tasted as though it was just taken out of the freezer - we mentioned it was very dry to the server so his solution was to bring us chocolate sauce to pour over the cake. Overall I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, especially not to impress a client.
I’ve been to Queue de Cheval dozens of times and the food, ambiance and service are always top notch, A1. Steaks are perfect and seafood is great! This particular dinner, our service was beyond great, it was the best I’ve had. Pedro was helpful, fun and just the right level of service. My clients from Toronto were highly impressed, I recommend this restaurant with confidence. Bravo!
Wonderful meal! Great server (Johnny) who gave excellent recommendations! Would recommend and come back!
Excellent in food and service! Always well treated by Donato!
The restaurant was phenomenal. The 32 ounce porterhouse was perfect for 3.
Parfait! J'adore ❤ Sans aucun doute un des top dans la restauration et une ambiance inoubliable. Service exceptionnel.
Dinner, service and staff were outstanding. Great atmosphere!
My favourite restaurant. All our business meals are at this wonderful place.
Food, ambiance and service!
Excellent steak. Dry aged. Fantastic.
First time visiting Montreal.
We had a great time and recommend it to all
Amazing service, amazing food, a bit pricey but very worth it
Food was amazing, love the atmosphere and the people. Just felt the waiter was always trying to upsell and wasn’t listening to my request. Could have been a language barrier.
Was my second time and would go back again.
Oysters Rockefeller were to die for, crab cake was sooooo good, not a lot of filler, mostly crab. Crab legs were outstanding, black cod OH MY!! Dirty martini was a bit salty, but I did request it. Great experience and food. Worth every dollar
WOW! gotta tell you this is one of the better finds I have come across. The staff and place were great and the lobster cocktail app was spectacular. Truly one of the best dishes. My wife who doesn't eat fish at all, tried it and liked it as well. Steaks were great and cooked to perfection. Coming from the NY/NJ area we are spoiled a bit when it comes to steak, but we felt right at home and we loved it. Will definitely go back.
The service was absolutely fantastic. But starting with the fact that they were out of Macallan 12 after everyone else got their drinks was a telling sign. The $325 each for the 2 Tomahawk steaks was like burning money. Both requested medium, one came out rare. It was served family style so you just can’t really cook it more so it ended up being a well done mess. Both were generally lacking flavor. When seasoning (Rosemary I think) and the taste of the grill (mmm charcoal) dominate the flavor profile, something is seriously wrong. The 5lb lobster (@ $50/lb) saved the night. It was cooked perfectly and was surprisingly sweet for being so big. The place is huge, very energetic and maybe we should have ordered individual steaks. All I can say is that for the money (over $1,400 for 5 with tip) there are many other steakhouses that we prefer.
Trop cher pour ce que c’est et nous avons mangé le bœuf Wagu et avons tous les 2 été malades le lendemain.
My husband and I don't typically dine at places like La Queue de Cheval because it's not in our budget. Eleven years ago we dined here with friends. Our friends loved it so much they bought us a gift certificate and 10 years ago we dined here again. This past January my husband was diagnosed with cancer and since January our lives have been a roller coaster. Two weeks prior to coming to Montreal for our annual trip a scan showed my husbands tumor didn't go away as well as expected it to. At that time he was scheduled for a very complex surgery, which of course, happened to be when we were to go to Montreal. Because of the complexity of the surgery we seeked a second expert opinion and that opinion was we were possibly jumping the gun on the surgery so to go under surveillance for now AND go to Montreal. We so needed this fun time away. Considering all the circumstances I decided we needed to splurge...and return to La Queue de Cheval. I wanted quality and ambiance. A quiet, romantic setting to spend time with my husband as I previously remembered. We were surprised to see the building moved, but no big deal. While we dined we were dismayed by the screaming and swearing coming from the owner to the cooks. We have never experienced a situation like this and sadly it ruined our last evening in Montreal. It was impossible to carry on any conversation with my husband besides about what we were seeing, because of the noise level, the tense staff, the constant bumping into our chairs, etc. I believe the food and wine were very good, but I didn't get to enjoy it or my husband as I intended to. At the end of the night we had a $646 bill to listen to constant staff belittlement. I wish we could have a redo at another restaurant to get the quality time I was looking for.
Service was impeccable. Fantastic atmosphere. Watching the action in the kitchen was great! Excellent seafood and our steaks were cooked to perfection. Will definitely be back.
