La Puerta Verde -“The Green Door”- is Mindful Restaurant Group’s homage to the beautiful Mexican cuisine, culture, and influences found throughout our diverse District. Located in the newly renovated historic Hecht Warehouse, La Puerta Verde is simultaneously reminiscent of a traditional Mexican Hacienda and nostalgic to its Ivy City roots. Traditional Mexican Talavera tiles and vibrant colorful murals coexist with repurposed cargo containers and original warehouse columns. Focusing on fresh quality ingredients, the menu draws from traditional dishes of various regions to create a unique but authentic representation of the landscape of Mexican cuisine. LPV's Bar program offers the expected selection of tequila, mezcal, and Mexican beers with a carefully crafted cocktail menu. In Mexico the color green represents hope- Mindful Restaurant Group's hope is that behind our green door guests will find a place to connect and enjoy the spirit of Mexico right here in the heart of DC.

I’d recommend their food and drinks. Great guacamole and the lengua was tender, fresh, and flavorful. The bartender was very kind and friendly.

It was delicious! The menu was focused and creative with complex dishes that reflected a more sophisticated Mexican dish. Loved the food, drinks, and dessert, highly recommend!

The food was delicious!! Service was quick and the server was very attentive. We had the guac, Mexican corn, whole grilled bronzino and a shrimp dish. Everything was fresh! I will be back.

I am from Texas and my parents own a Tex-Mex restaurant down there. Needless to say, I have been on the hunt for good Mexican food in the DMV and while I have founds pretty good tacos, La Puerta Verde was a standout. We are already looking forward to coming back! You never know how much you need homemade tortillas until you have one. I gave a 4/5 on Service because our drinks were pretty slow from the bar and the restaurant was not busy. I also gave 4/5 for the price because an 8 oz cup of rice was $4. I understand that is DC pricing but still. Other than that, so so good! Queso fundido was excellent and the salsa was perfectly spicy and perfectly fresh. We will be going back soon. Thank you!

Our waiter, Eric was lovely and provided excellent service. The food was very fresh and delightful. Selected La Puerta on a whim, and glad we did.

Fabulous skinny margarita and salsa and guacamole and calamari and pink shrimp entree! Everyone loved their dinners - Chile relleno and chicken enchiladas — all had great flavor and were nice portions. Just a little on the expensive side but worth it for an “every once in a while trek!”
