Phenomenal vibe and great ambiance to just chill out over drinks and food. The food was fantastic and well conceptualized. Don't expect fully traditional as it is Puerto Rican food fused, which for me works just fine. The service was spot on all around. Will definitely be one of my go to places in South Florida.
Service was impeccable. Our server went above and beyond. The food was very good; not traditional. More the chef's creation of traditional dishes. The music was way to loud. Could not hold a conversation without yelling.
We went for my sister in laws bday. Had a fantastic time. Food and decor were both great. Will def recommend and return.
Raul, our server was exceptional and professional. He explained the menu and the best food selection for our group. The food is good, but can be better, especially for Puerto Rican food that the prices are rather high. The staff is very friendly. They make you feel you are at someone’s home.
I had a great time and I read some reviews before we go there, I was waiting for the most expensive restaurant what isn’t true. The prices were ok, not that bad. Service was great, Daiana our server was wonderful she explained everything to us! I truly recommend the restaurant!
We were super excited to try this restaurant. Having our beautiful flag painted on the outside of this building should really represent the delicious food from our island. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed - we were served small portions, it was overpriced and overall missing Puerto Rican flavor and authenticy. The waiter was nice but lacked training in many aspects. The menu does not display much variation and food presentation is not typical. As much as I adore and love my flag represented - it has no place in this restaurant. Will not recommend.
I could give cooking classes to the Chef I am from Puerto Rico and my dishes are far better .
Food was good, and drinks great $$. I think a little expensive for what is it. the service need to improve a lot.
if I will pay around $ 60.00 or more for a dinner I will expect a better service. we had to ask for water, cutlery.
we were a group of 8 and our food arrived separately in a time of half an hour or more.
the best of the nigh : food and drinks .
Second visit. Appetizer of platanos with octopus was wonderful. Strip steak was fantastic. I asked for medium rare and it came out perfect. The flavor was amazing and the steak was so tender. Great red beans and rice. Service is super attentive and just right. Fun place.
The food was extremely overpriced for very small quantities. We made a reservation and were not given an option between inside or outside. We were placed outside and were attacked by mosquitos. The music was so loud I could not hear anyone at my table speak, nor the server. The server was so irritated by repeating himself since we could not hear that he repeatedly gave attitude saying things like 'I just told you' or 'that's what I just said.' I assume this is why he took over 35 minutes to bring the check at the end of the meal. Clearly not concerned about a tip because the party of 6 or more ensures 18%. And, to top it off, the food was mediocre at best, not at all worth a trip. Save your time and money. Such a disappointment given some positive reviews that sent us here in the first place. By the way, whatever they serve as 'Mofongo' was rock hard and tasted like a block of salt.
This place is amazing! The food was absolutely wonderful and the service was above and beyond.
We ate lunch here and it was wonderful! The ambiance is perfect, making us feel like we were in a little part of Puerto Rico. The walls are full of typical colors and symbols of the island.
We ordered four appetizers and each one was better than the one before...the alcapurrias de jueyes (crab) and alcapurrias de pulpo (octopus) were delicious and a fun and modern presentation of the traditional alcapurria. The croquettes were outstanding and the bacalaitos were also great.
We ordered the lunch specials which came with a fresh house salad. At our table was the sweet potato mash with pork (amazing!), mamposteao with pork (yum!) and the mofongo with steak which all had fantastic flavors. We did not make it to dessert as we were full but would gladly return. A+!
The food was delicious. I grew up in Puerto Rico and was excited to eat traditional dishes. The alcapurrias, mofongo, bacalaito and avocado salad were all delicious. The pina colada was perfect. A few things that were not ideal:
1) our entrees were served with the appetizer dishes.
2) the wine was served too warm.
3) the tembleque had a sauce that didn’t let you taste the traditional coconut flavor. I removed it and it was better without the sauce.
4) I would have like the bacalaitos to be offered without the toppings.
The first time I went there a couple of weeks ago, the food was outstanding. This time, the appetizers (acupurrias and empanadas) were great, but our main meals, lechon asado was a little burnt on top and I had to send back my pasteles because they were cold. The dessert was not worth it. It was very small and not worth the calories. The food is really good, though and would definitely go back. It just seemed like they were a little off that night.
The service is very good the food is good and is a beautiful place only thing the tables outside is not good for eat is better inside is a lot of flies impossible to eat outside.
Was very much looking forward to it but was sadly disappointed. The carnitas had no seasoning, the steak encebollado was also under seasoned and over cooked, arroz con gandules...really. Only the chillo and mamposteao were decent. The service was terrible. And in top of everything...quite expensive. Will not return. Shame because the cocktails are good, the music great and decor lovely. Had so much potential.
Realot good the food but too pricey and every shot of coquito 8 dollars
The ambiance / music / decor is very inviting and makes it feel kind of like u are at La Placita with friends. I know that we are paying for location and the creativity of the dishes... but it’s quite overpriced for the type of food/ingredients needed for these dishes. I mean, a bacalaito for $14 when it probably takes $1 to make it and you can get them for much less at any other PR restaurant?! That said, the food is really good, tasty, can’t rave enough about the trifongo with salmorejo de jueyes - a must try- and they are really creative with the desserts. Definitely worth trying even if just for special occasion or special meetup with friends.
Great service! Been waiting for a long time to come here and it was worth the wait! Food was amazing! Never had to wait for anything including a cold beer. We sat outside and the weather was great!
This place has no real Latin flavor it’s crazy expensive and they barely give any food. The appetizers are fried they take forever and the empanadas are no what they usually are in Pr.
The food was flavorful, however the portions were extremely small. I went with my family and they did not offer a kid friendly menu. I requested 2 different dishes and neither one was available. Overall, I was not impressed.
The restaurant space is nicely decorated and cheerful, but lots of reflective surfaces make for a very noisy environment. We had great appetizers and recommend the croquetas de pollo and alcapurrias. Our group had variations of mofongo, which were excellent, and empanada de carne (milanesa), which was quite good. The servers were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We drank the Puerto Rican beer, mainly because the wine list was quite expensive for a reasonably-priced restaurant.
Gracias. Volveremos pronto.
I was very excited to finally go , but was very disappointed .
The food came out cold, the meat we chose came out hard as a rock, the flavor was not authentic, and the Service was horrible. Not to mention the amount of food for the price is ridiculous. If I were to explain in detail the experience it would be too long. As a Puerto Rican I am sad that this place didn’t live up to the expectations. Hopefully they improve.
But the prices are kinda high, for those prices you need to serve more food...wasn't enough food to be that expensive.
I ordered a mofongo and the portions was the size of a toston. The fried meat was tender, but flavorless
Do not sit outside unless you enjoy cars honking their horns
I hardly give reviews unless it’s exceptional or a nightmare. This was a waste of my time and money.
Food is good but a bit overpriced. The place has a loud, latin atmosphere and the servers are attentive.
We loved the ambiance of La Placita. Food was excellent and our server José’s service was excellent. He was extremely helpful and right on point with his recommendations.
Sumamente amable y agradable. Lugar altamente recomendado.
Loved the vibe, food and overall experience!
We will be back for sure.
Made a reservation for an early birthday dinner with family. First off, the valet parking is such a convenience. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and had choice of inside or outside seating. Being with kids we opted for inside seating, which was wonderful. The music, decor, and ambience transported us back to the Island. Being from Miami, it is unusual to come across Puerto Rican restaurants with a modern twist. The service and the food was phenomenal! Every single drink, cocktail, appetizer, entree and dessert superseded our expectations. We had children, young adults and grandparents that loved the experience today. We hope to return very soon and let others know of this little gem... Thank you for singing “Happy Birthday” with the whole crew! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Terrible food, terrible portions, they forgot many of the items we ordered. We overpaid and didn’t receive some of our order items. Super expensive for what it is. Will never go again.
Excellent service, ambience and quality of food. Very typical PR food establishment with feeling you are actually in PR while in Miami.
Awesome service when we went. I hear with bigger crowds the service is understandably affected. Avoid crowd and you’ll be fine.
Excellent place to go eat and have fun! Beautiful building and a very welcome environment. Love it and def we will come back! Food was great!
The service provided by Raul was outstanding. He was attentive to our needs and the plate he recommended was on point. I highly recommend that if you plan on going to La Placita make sure you request Raul. I surely will go back and only request him. Outstanding Service Raul.
Yes, service, ambiance, food are great looking forward to go back
