Puerto Rican influenced food. Definitely not authentic. It wasn't bad it just wasn't authentic.
The place is lovely. We sat on the couches and swing. Service was on point from the waitress (Titi) to the bus boys. We ordered Mofongo de Ropa Vijeja, Pastelon and chicharron de pollo with arroz con guandules, which was delicious. Definitely recommend this place to family and friends
We loved the place real puertorican menu and food only. The service is excellent all staff is very king and knowledgeable about the menu. We feel very comfortable and happy to feel and taste a piece of PR. I cant wait to come back and go to the domino’s tournament and karaoke nights
Excellent everything. The only thing we didn't like was the loud music
Food and service was excellent but for the cost, portions way too small.
The staff was very nice and accomodating. I first experienced the bar and outdoor patio, good drinks and ambiance. Prices are or the expensive side.
Dinner was good and the server was very nice and courteous although he was covering a lot of tables which made providing an excellent service impossible. We had a great time with the family but the a/c was so bad that I was sweating a lot.
I really liked the place and want them to succeed but I would like to see better service and an additional a/c untit.
Food was good but came to the table cold and service could be a lot better
This was my first time at La Placita. The food was amazing! Raúl, was a lifesaver as my waiter, he was on point at helping me decide what to explore on the menu as everything looked so good. I will definitely be back!
They gave us free alcapurrias and then wanted to charge us.
We also had hard plastic in our food - we told the waiter and they didn't do anything. Just said "sorry".
Ambiance is very hype . The place has a great vibe. The food is mediocre to good, cocktails o,k . Service is aloof , waiters give off attitude. We received our food an hour after we were seated . After reminding our waitress that we had never received an appetizer , suddenly we received all the food at the same time. Waiters don't seem to care , then I realized. Why ! When the check arrived I took note that an 18 % tip is automatically added , there is also a note that highly encourages an extra 5% to be added to the top. Maybe that's why the service is below average and the reason why I'm not returning !!!!
Food & service were great but even the wait staff is struggling with the loud music. The great decor and ambiance are being undermined by music that is so loud (especially indoors) that it's really difficult to place an order, let alone have a conversation.
This was my second time here & honestly after the first I said I would not come back. Not only the food is just ok, actually my mom cooking is better but the prices seriously 'ridiculous' high'. I only came back again cause being myself PuertoRican my dad wanted to visit & I took the opportunity for "Miami Spice" special (which my mom ended up saying for the total of all of us 'We should of gone food shopping"). What got to me mostly was a cup of soda $4 really dude & those alcapurrias?! The only thing I enjoyed was is the ambiance, setting & the service. Yes service is on point! Anyway...in the end I'll just go to my favorite spot in Hialeah, sorry guys.
Great ambiance....felt like I was in Puerto Rico!!! Great, friendly service. From the valet Parker, to the host, to the waitress. Everyone very friendly and professional!! Will definitely return for more date nights!!!
Overall food was good, not great. The alcapurias were the best. The beans were a little too salty for my taste and the pollo empanizado was a bit burnt. Also, the arroz con gandules didn't have a whole lot of taste. It was best to mix the arroz con gandules with beans. The decor was nice. The place was lively. Loved the building art of the Puerto Rican flag.
This is my second time and I’m enjoyed it very much. The food is delicious. Portions are smaller than your typical PR restaurant but who needs to eat that much anyway. I loved it more than the first time I went when all the hype was going on. I plan to go again soon to check out kareoke night! Looking forward to it!
More like a tapas restaurant, portions are very small for the high prices. Appetizers are good, entrees not so much. Couldn’t get the Puertorrican flavors from the food. We were 6 and everyone ordered different plates. No one was impressed. Beer was not cold as promised on the menu and service was not as good as I expected it to be. There are many places in Miami with better food and exceptional service.
Expensive but great service and delicious food. Will definitely go back
After reading mixed reviews, I took a chance, as my parents were very eager to check this place out. We were pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was delish. Service was prompt and friendly. Very nice vibe and ambience.
To my surprise, the place was really energetic at 1:00pm on a Saturday. We were excited to support this Puerto Rican restaurant with the courage to open in Miami! The food was very overpriced for lunch as well as small portioned. I understand that the rent must be high however- the ingredients needed for this food is quite inexpensive. I was disappointed. Our luncheon meal was $133.00 for two people. Also the food was flavorful but really greasy and high in salt. Mind you, I love this but next time Chef Medlin, put your food on a paper towel to absorb the grease and you can get great results with a tiny bit less salt. I LOVE salt so trust me, it is not from a health consideration.
Only as a one time thing. Unless they want pay an arm n leg.
Too noisy, good drinks, friendly service, parking is an issue in the area
Good food, excellent ambience, clean, excellent location, excellent music. High prices in drinks like chichaito but good offer. Our Service attendant a kind of lazy , I have to look for something’s by my self. If I have to go again definitely repeat visit. Excellent concept.
Met some friends there and we decided to go tapas since so many things looked delicious. We were not disappointed!
Started with Escabeche de Pulpo - Tender, delicious octopus with a side tostones.
Trifongo is a mix of Sweet Plantains, Fried Plantains, and Yuca - all my favorite starches with garlic sauce sauteed Shrimp. Was delicious.
Carne Guisada a la Zaydi Plato- Think of it as a beef stew. Chunky with lots of perfectly cooked beef. Its the chef's mothers home recipe.
Raul, our server was generous with his time, attentive, and just a great guy suggesting the perfect cocktails and side dishes to accompany our assortment. I highly recommend you ask for him.
Full bar had a great assortment of Rums that most bars do not carry as well anything else you're looking for.
After the appetizer it took 1 hr to receive our food for a party of 4 the waiter was ignoring us and the manager just said sorry and we can complementary you with 1 dessert like if we need it! My son studies in Puerto Rico and he was dying to visit this place but it was all for a disappointment 😞 we starved and none sims to care 🤬
The appetizers are flavorful, the entrees are not as good as the appetizers. the service is not the best, they tale very long to tend to the customers. We requested to sit at a booth, and were not able to because according to them, they were not allowed to put two tables together, it was set up for two, not 4. The price, Sky high $270 for 4 appetizers, 2 alcoholic beverages, 1 coke ,and 4 entrees.
Excelente servicio. Buena comida y gran trato.
Everything we ordered was delicious. From the Mama-Yak drink to the mofongo and chicharrones de pollos. Let’s not even talk about dessert. I had a Tres Leches and it was to die for, so “mojadito” with the right amount of almond and brandy which was excellent. Once you walk into this restaurant you feel like you’re back home in Puerto Rico with mesas de domino outside and all of the Puerto Rican goodies displayed everywhere. Trust me, this place will not disappoint!
Food is not authentic, music is deafening, service confusing, don’t recommend it, won’t go back
Loved it! Will come back again when I’m in town. Delicious boricua food.
Great service and excellent food, cozy and very friendly.
The food was overpriced for the servings and we were expecting a real Puerto Rican feeling that wasn’t there. Very disappointed the beers were one price inside and another outside. I will not recommend this place to anyone unless you want to be ripped off .
I would recommend it with some reservations. The prices are a little high. And we had to wait 1 hour for our food to be served. I ate mofongo with camarones al ajillo which was good but overpriced ($31). But my daughter's chicken empanado was overcooked.
Great food and service! Las alcapurrias de ropa vieja y el pastelon me encantaron.
The whole fried fish was the Best we every had the mofongo was perfect not dry, the alcapurrias topped with crab were delicious. Titi our server was very sweet and took good care of us. The bar drinks were expensive and so is the wine. I would definitely recommend the restaurant good atmosphere!
I would probably recommend the experience, but, we had a few appetizers, and they weren't that good.
We had the Mofongo Benedict. Delicious but a very small portion. However, the "music" was so unbearably loud that we could not wait to get out. That harmful noise level its probably illegal. We do not recommended this inhumanly loud place to any sane person and will certainly not go back.
