We went on the night of the 17th of November and were forced to wait another 45 minutes for our table after having a reservation at 7:30pm. Food was average at best, sauces too sweet and overall under-seasoned.
felt bad for the doorstaff having to handle all the complaints about wait times, I thought they were resilient and handled it well.
It wasn’t their fault, there is clearly a foundational systemic problem here that is leading to this, as we were told by one of the staff that there wait times were a very frequent occurence.
We got the $18 prix fixe menu. Food- The salad was very small and not very good. The pasta was very good but it was a pretty small portion. The wine was inexpensive and very good.
Ambiance- We were seated upstairs and the lighting and decor was very weird, felt like you were in a hospital.
If you're going to Eataly, try a different restaurant.
Went for lunch during restaurant fest. Food and drinks were great! Took about 30 mins for our food to arrive, not bad considering how busy the place was! Server was great. Would definitely return
Food is very good..Had the sausage pizza and pasta with Bolognese sauce..Pasta dish could have been bigger after all pasta is cheap! All in all a good experience!!
We were in NYC to celebrate my daughters 16th bday and had a delicious meal at La Pizza my only complaint is that we felt very rushed. We were given menus and asked for drink orders right after we took our coats off. Our food came fairly quickly (although our mains came about 10min apart b/c pizza and pasta come out of different kitchens?) but I had to track someone down to ask for fresh ground pepper and grated parmesan. Shortly after we finished, we decided we were too full for dessert and then the bill came. The whole meal, including my wine, appi and our mains was under an hour. I get that the restaurant is busy and we're not the target demographic but it wasn't the celebratory meal I'd hoped for. The food was amazing so we'll still try La Pizza & La Pasta at our newly opened Eataly Toronto and hope for a more relaxed dining experience.
Honestly one of the most delicious pasta places in NYC. The Restaurant Fest menu was so good and so well priced. I almost want to make two reservations next time! Never disappoints.
We were lucky enough to hit a time where they had a limited price fix menu. Food was excellent. My only complaint was my friend received and finished her pasta dish, before I received my pizza. Both were excellent. The bread and olive oil can be addicting.
Good value high energy restaurant although felt somewhat rushed. Beware they won't seat you until your whole party is there and then will make you wait after that too when they get table ready. This is not unique to them but if going to make us wait until entire party is at restaurant shouldn't then have to wait some more when you check in again for your reservation.
Everything we tried was phenomenal! Great quality ingredients make their food a step above.
The food is AMAZING. And the prix fixe is great- you really get a great deal. However, they try and rush you out of there. I understand that there is a Saturday lunch rush but I had half a bottle of wine left and my food on my plate- do not rush me out of the restaurant.
Lovely meal. Great wine. Nice surroundings.
Server could have been less frenetic. Seemed rushed and was a bit impatient.
Restaurant week is a great deal but its super crowded.
We enjoyed the experience thoroughly. My husband and I sat downstairs and the table with our daughter and 5 of her friends was upstairs. We were celebrating her 18th birthday. Everyone loved their meal. It was reasonably priced. Will definitely be going back.
We were seat upstairs and the heat was blasting. They could not turn off but there were No fans. Horrible service- had to get up and get our own water and pour it. Had to ask for the waiter to come over multiple times to take our drink and food order.
Fun atmosphere for a family dinner before a show. The pizza and calzones were great for the kids. Their fresh pasta hit the spot and a nice wine list.
Always great food and experience! Will definitely return.
Guests visiting and we wanted to give them the Eataly experience!
The food was delicious, the service excellent but this is not the place to dine for an intimate dining experience. The $18 two course dinner was great and being with 2 friends we were able to taste all of the appetizers and 3 of the 4 main course selections. $25 wine bottles great deal too! Highly recommend
This is one of 6 restaurants within the Eataly space and it focuses on pasta dishes. We took advantage of a tremendous prix fixe offering which provided 2 dishes (appetizer and pasta course) for $18 per person and we bought a very respectable bottle of wine for $25! That's a deal in NYC!! The space was certainly "energetic" with lots of ambient noise from the open kitchen and tightly packed tables but it was also enjoyable within the context of our visit. The food was served very quickly and was very good quality. I'd recommend this restaurant for those who want excellent pasta at a reasonable price in midtown. Oh - our server was very proficient, efficient and personable!
I was a great time with splendid wine and a fantastic pasta with beef sold for stew and Margherita pizza, great Plaza and a real Italian flavor, as that pasta was an autumn dish from italy
Great location, lovely staff and delicious food. Close to where we are staying during our visit, have returned twice
Very busy restaurant. Hard to hear
The meal was great. The table service was great too. What was NOT good, or even acceptable in any way was the host service. We checked in on time and were dismissed by Jen to the side with a comment of your table will be ready in a moment. She then clearly forgot about us, commenting to another host that we’d already been seated. I then offered to show my phone AND my ID. She refused to talk to us. Again dismissing us twice until the other hostess sat us. In the mezzanine and NOT where ewe reserved. I love Eataly but will never eat at this venue again.
Very nice place, good food and service
THe food was great, i love their lasagna and pizzas. Great white house wine for $10. But the ambience went down from my previous visit a year ago, the place is dirtier, staff rushed. We weren't offered parmesan grated on our pasta, as they usually do, etc. THe other Eataly by WTC is cleaner and with better ambience for sure
If you enjoy a bustling atmosphere in NYC, Eataly is the place. La Pizza & La Pasta was the perfect spot for a dinner with family and a stroll through the marketplace. Pizza was very good and my daughter in law's pasta dish was excellent! If you want Italian food in a fun atmosphere, this might be the place.
I have to say it was a little disappointing... service was kind but not very attentive. Food was okay but it was much better last time we dined (few months ago)
Excellent food; however, the hostess stand is dysfunctional and poorly supervised by management.
Wow! A great experience. The food was delicious and Eataly is a must fo agsin!
We had a fantastic expereince! My husband and sons (age 17 and 12) all enjoyed the space and food. The service was welcoming, quick, and attentive. The menu had choices for each of us (one picky eater, one non-meat eater, one carb-free eater). Everyone LOVED their food. We had a comfortable table with a corner booth and two chairs. It was crowded, but lively and fun. Thanks to everyone at La Pizza & La Pasta who helped make our experience so fabulous.
Delicious food and friendly waitstaff. Hostess accommodated is quickly so that we did not miss our train.
I return to Eataly every trip to NY. I prefer the Flatiron location to the WTC one. The new "Prix Fixe" for 2 courses is a good deal and we also got a great Moscato bottle for $25. I love the butternut squash ravioli and the Quattro Formaggi ravioli.
One tip. If it's crowded, try making a reservation with Open Table while standing in line before you go to the sign in desk. That seemed to get us to a table sooner and we'll before even our reservation.
Delicious food at a very good price for New York, and Great service from our waiter who recommended a very good wine.
So my mediocre review is how they manage "reservations". I had called about an hour BEFORE my reservation to see if I ca=ould change it as my friends were arriving late after a long drive from out of town. The original reservation was at 8. I asked to change it to 8:30. They said they couldt chane it but can put "running late" we got there 8:15. They said to let them know as soon as my other friends arrived. They arrived at 8:22! We were finally seated at 9:30! 9:30!!! How?! I called with ample time to say we would run late....they said no problem because had we known we'd wait over an hour we would have gone somewhere else. There was another party of 4 that were on time for their reservation that also waited for an hour!
The girls were clearly overwhelmed. They did the best they could, so which means to me management doesn't have control over a busy Friday night.
The food was great. Even though there wasn't enough "pepe" (pepper) in the cacio e pepe. But easy fix.
So at the end of the day. Don't go Friday night, don't even bother to show up without a reservation unless its early. (we ended up buying bread and cheese in thr market to eat while we waited as we were all famished) :op
Went for Eataly Restaurant fest, so the value was great ($25 bottles of wine), but the overall experience was frustrating. Despite having a reservation (that we made a week prior), we waited for nearly 40 minutes to be seated with inconsistent messaging from the hostess (i.e. "you're next!" and 5 parties were then seated before us). The shaky service continued, with the waiter bringing one entree before our appetizers, and the other entree a the end of the meal once we finished eating. I think you can get better italian food with better service elsewhere in the city, in a less frenetic environment.
Went for restaurant Fest...delicious food . Surprisingly large potions. Sit at counter if you can
Excellent service and Great food and wine! Best to make a reservation.
Great pasta. Didn't have the pizza but they looked really good. The veggie sides were not great - get the brussel sprouts over the cauliflower. But the reason to go is the whole Eataly experience.
Everything was great - I may go back next week.
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The roasted Brussel sprouts & the butternut sage raviolis was amazing. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
