They were out of the 25 wine twice...the server was unapologetic and kept looking over her shoulder. The service was delayed and then very rushed
This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. We ordered drinks and food shortly after we got there. The wine and salads came out pretty quickly. After 45 minutes of waiting for out main courses, I was finally able to get our server's attention and he said they should be out in a minute. Ten minutes later, we were starving and still hadn't received our main courses. I gave the server my card to pay for our wine and salads, and he didn't even apologize or try to make the situation right.
It was a busy Saturday night. There was a fall prix fixe menu event happening. The food was amazing. There was a mess up with our pasta order and it was forgotten, but the manager made it right and comped the dish since it came out after we were finished with our other food. It was refreshing to see such great service after having experienced some bad service in other dining establishments the very same weekend. I would definitely go back!
I wanted to go for the experience, but I will definitely not be back. Even if you’ve made a reservation, you have to wait in line to be seated.
The menu lacked meat to emphasize the pizza crust and pasta noodles but I would’ve been nice for more meat additions. The pizza is suppose to take 90 seconds to make and the pasta takes 2-3 minutes, my table and I waited probably 20-30 minutes for our pasta and pizza. Our waiter noticed we were looking back at the kitchen often so he went to go look and dropped our food and told us there were issues in the kitchen. He then went to tell the manager on duty about the issue and offered our food to be compensated so we really greatly appreciated the attention to service. The food was okay and nothing to brag about. Definitely will not be back.
What a fantastic evening....had dinner with 7 friends and food was fantastic and the service was evening better. Mark our server was busy throughout the evening while we dined but you would have thought that we were his only table. He was very attentive, always on top of everything and checking back on a regular bases to make sure we were okay.
It was good, but there was a lot of Sauce. The outer crust was good.
Great November Fall fest deal-has a squash salad and pasta for $15
Bottle of wine was $25
Wish this lasted through year end as I would love to go back
Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. We will definitely be back time and time again...
Long wait. Very grumpy hostesses. Cramped, loud, food was disappointing. All around fail.
Great service from Joel F!
Would not recommend going to Eately during a promotion ... the promotion price fixe was not great (off the menu is wonderful), plus it was very crowded and the service was not great
Margaret was amazing! Great chat while my party got there.
Good quality and portion was great.
Great selection on the win for Restaurant Fest.
The waitstaff and management for this restaurant were super! We presented a vexing problem for the waitstaff and management by having a family reunion lunch for twelve with 6 separate checks and much switching during the course of the luncheon between the two tables for six we had. Bravo to kitchen and wait staff and management for the great service and great food.
We ate there 3 times in the past week. Roberto was our waiter all 3 times. Excellent service! He recommended the perfect wine for our meals. We even bought the wine at Eataly that he recommended! The pastas and pizza were cooked perfectly! We thoroughly enjoyed our experiences at Eataly and will definitely be back often!
Pasta dishes were great, and the pizza was excellent. It was so crowded and noisy, however, that it was not at all a relaxing dining experience. We were there on a Saturday night, though, so perhaps a weeknight visit would be less overwhelming.
We took our young nieces to Eataly for dinner as part of a Chicago adventure. We'd been to Eataly previously and knew it was family friendly, plus it was close to our hotel. We arrived early and were promptly seated, which was great. Our server was excellent, she was very attentive to our needs. We started with a bottle of wine for the adults, which was out of stock, but our second choice arrived quickly along with bread. We then shared a burrata with pesto, which was excellent. For entrees, our nieces both had pizzas off the kid's menu, and my wife and I shared a lasagna entrée. One pizza (heart shaped) was baked properly, but the rabbit shaped pizza was problematic. The first one came out with a lot of uncooked dough, especially near the ears. We showed the waitress, and she promptly had another one made. The second one was better, but still not completely baked near the ears. I'm not an expert baker, but I would guess there was too much dough in that area to properly bake in the time the pizza was in the oven. We simply pulled it apart and had our niece is the cooked parts.
The lasagna that my wife and I shared was very good, and splitting it was perfect for us.
Overall, we enjoyed Eataly again, just a little frustrated with the pizza issue for our niece. One piece of advice: avoid the bunny pizza!
As always, everything was great.
Food was very good but service extremely slow. The manager did Comp our meal though due to such slow service. Waited an hour just for salad and an appetizer
We had the (overpriced) truffle pizza, which was just ok. Wines were ok and reasonably priced. The server was friendly but inattentive. Tables were so close together that we were constantly bumped by servers try to get past each other. There are so many good places for pizza in Chicago, this will unlikely be a place to come back to. Would probably be fine for lunch.
Great food! probably some of the best pizza dough. so tasty, flavorful, and the best texture.
La Pizza La Pasta surpassed all of our expectations! Delicious pasta! Definitely make a reservation.
My boyfriend and I took the train to Chicago for date day because we had heard so many great things about Eataly. We chose the La Pizza La Pasta restaurant for a sit down lunch. The pizza and pasta come out at different times, depending on what you order. Our server was fantastic and did tell us ahead of time. I ordered the lasagna and my boyfriend ordered a pizza. The lasagna came out in less than 5 minutes, the pizza took probably 15. So not a bad wait overall for the food. The lasagna was very bland, and the pizza dough was soggy and undercooked... which is disappointing, especially for Napoleon style thin crust. We had those two dishes and a bottle of Prosecco, which brought the tab to $95, so not a great experience for the price. The rest of the market was lovely and lively. We really enjoyed being able to walk around with a glass of wine as you shop.
My reservation was cancelled the day before my important business meeting, with the explanation that they would be closed that day. No apologies offered.
They weren't really closed, they just chose to sell out the entire restaurant for a single guest.
Thank you for ruining my plans last minute and making me look like I am not capable of making a dinner reservation. So disgusted!
Food was fantastic but service was really lacking. We made a reservation for 7 people but were shown to a table with only 6 chairs and settings and were abandoned. Appetizers arrived at the same time as 6 of the entrees. The seventh entree took another 5 minutes to arrive. Too bad because the food was quite good!
Pizza is delicious. Pastas a little dry and bland.
They were out of mult items on the menu, the pasta was undercooked and the bread came after the entrees. Expensive.
We love Eataly and La Pizza & La Pasta! They were very attentive, the food came quickly and was excellent. We try to stop in anytime we are making a trip into the city. And I love the decor!
Our service was great, very friendly & courteous staff. However food was mediocre at best. Most of our party ordered a variety of pasta dishes & none said it was good, more so “disappointing” one couple shared a pizza however & said it was delicious. So, if to recommend I’d say stay away from the pasta entrees.
highly recommend a reservation. very casual ambiance. loud. food is great except for verde salad which is a big no!
I’ve been to Eataly in NYC and enjoyed something quick with a drink, and it was great! But our dinner experience in Chicago Eataly this weekend was not good. It was really loud, food and wine were not great (pizzas were not cooked all the way through), and the worst part was having to move our chair at our table so A TRASH CAN COULD ROLL THROUGH! We saw this nasty trash can roll through the restaurant at least four times and had to move out of the way twice. Are you kidding me?! Needless to say, we won’t be back. :(
I love italian cuisine but it was the most boring pasta/ravioli options i’ve ever seen! Yes, fresh but too simple for that kind of place. Pizza was thin but not crispy at all.
Very loud and chaotic not a relaxing atmosphere to dine in. We were not aware of this when we made the reservation.
Great food at very reasonable prices in a vibrant atmosphere.
The food was amazing! It came out really quickly in spite of how busy it was that night.
To start, it took forever for our server to come to the table, we had to go back to the host stand and request for a server to come by. When he did finally come over, he rushed through orders and kept trying to leave before we were finished. The drink orders were incorrect, and the majority of the food was just okay. The lasagna was amazing, but everything else was just meh. Would not go back.
We loved the food here! The spinach ricotta ravioli with lemon butter was amazing! My husband and the Bucatini and LOVED it! The bread that is served to start the meal was delicious! The spaghetti with the buffalo mozzarella was simple & so full of flavor! Really enjoyed the Flor Prosecco!
Nice food for a friends reunion. We enjoy the post-race party after Chicago marathon. Even though they are quite busy, the staff still try their best to let us enjoy. We do enjoy there.
We had family in town to run the marathon and went for a family dinner the night before the big event. I understand that many downtown spots will be crowded the night before the marathon, so I went in anticipating this. However, the service we received was very poor. The server seemed apathetic and uncommited to getting our order right. He warned that if some people were getting pizza and others pasta, the food may come out at different times. We accepted that, but found it odd that my husband's calzone (seems like it would take a long time to cook) came out right away but our simple pomodoro pastas took forever. The pizza my niece ordered never even came! Instead the server brought her some pasta and seemed suspicious that she ordered a pizza in the first place. My niece ate the unwanted pasta, fearing her pizza may never arrive. The food was all right, but I feel bad that this Chicago dining experience let our out of town guests down.
Food was ok, definitely hyped up more than it should’ve been. Won’t be back. Service was great. The problem was with the food.
