La Pizza & La Pasta - Eataly Chicago
Eataly has teamed up with the experts at Rossopomodoro, a Napoli-based pizza company, to bring you traditional Neapolitan pizza. Creamy mozzarella, charred yet elastic crust, and sweet San Marzano tomatoes make for a pizza so delicious you will be singing along with our vibrant Neapolitan pizzaioli (pizza makers).
Chef Will is awesome. Food was great and atmosphere perfect for friends getting together!
So many rules. Can't ask for anything that makes it more enjoyable. Very disappointing. No one in our party of five will be back.
Loved the Margherita pizza and Arugula salad! The service was perfect and I would definitely return to try more food!
Service was extremely poor. One dish came out fifteen minutes before the others. No apology or explanation was given. Food was cold. May never go back after this disappointing experience.
Eataly is to all things Italian cuisine - both restaurants and marketplace as IKEA is to home furnishing and I mean this in the most positive way possible. La Pizza & La Pasta was very reasonably priced and the freshness & taste of everything we ordered was incredible. I'm only sorry I hadn't been here before and will definitely be back any and every time I visit Chicago.
It’s a great spot with a lot of variety. Everything we ordered was delicious and staff was attentive.
Arrived early and they seated us quickly. Waiter did not arrive for quite awhile, then left without taking our drink order. Pizza was very, very good. Salad, bland and a bit bitter. Nice wine selection.
The gf pizza was great, except they were missing some ingredients... the pasta they couldn’t make the way I wanted and from seafood, they had just shrimps... totally disappointed... was in other restaurant there and was much better...the menu on line doesn’t either match the menu in restaurant 👎🏻
This food is legit. Simple, delicious (think layers of flavor), and filling. I've been here twice on this trip because it's so good. The pizza is very thin crust, soggy and floppy in the middle (so all the typing slide right off,) and charred on the edges. It had a good flavor, but some parts of the crust were too burned for my taste. I've tried three different pastas and all were amazing (if you like a little spice, try the Bucotini.) Plus, the restaurant is in a huge, amazing Italian market with pasta, cheeses, meats, chocolates, wines, and so much more to browse or buy! It can be a bit loud, but still a fun, wonderful atmosphere. A must-try if you're walking by or staying in the area. Don't forget dessert downstairs!
fantstic place great staff delivering you exellent service to match the great food. A must if you enjoy italian Pizza and pasta
Too loud for conversation. Wine was over priced.
Food was amazing! Great location, and my boyfriend and I loved the pizza and pasta. We also got cannolis and coffee. Very nice atmosphere and perfect for a nice but not too expensive date.
The service was awful! The food was amazing and authentic!!!
Split a 4-cheese pizza and the ravioli on July 4. Pizza was amazing, and ravioli was okay ... a little dry, but fine with a little olive oil on top. Loved that we could make a reservation on a holiday!
It was amazing!
We always come here because food is good. But we never had a good service... but you tolerate that and you love good food, they got some good food
It’s like Disneyland. Food is very good but not for the ambiance and price.
We had pasta (the beef brisket tagliatelle and the bucatini dell’ Amatriciana). Both were delicious, and we had amazing service from Chad. Chef Simone went out of his way to talk through gluten free pizza crust methods, as I am gluten free.
Going away party
Honestly I was highly dissatisfied with the food and service. I heard nothing but great things of this restaurant but when I got there it was loud because of the store that surrounds the restaurant. The host was very welcoming and friendly but it fell apart from there. The waiter seemed distracted and wasn’t even the person to serve us. When the food came it was okay at best. The serving sizes were fine but some of the food was over cooked.
The food was great but service was not so good. We had a 11 people who ordered a mix of appetizers, pizzas and pasta. The appetizers showed up after the pizzas and the pasta dishes showed up 35 minutes after the pizzas. One of the orders for lasagna they came back and said they ran out of lasagna and something else needed to be ordered. No one offered compensation for the way things the occured and what happened.
Our server did not check in with us while we waited for our food for about 30 minutes. We had finished our drinks and just sat there while two tables that came in after us ate and paid for their meals.
Great food as always! Pastas are amazing! Everything was so fresh!
A bit overwhelming when you walk in. It took us a minute to find the restaurant in the back, upstairs. The food was overpriced for what you got. After all of the rave reviews, I was quite disappointed.
Ciro was greatest waiter ever and combined with GREAT food-the best experience!
Very fun and delicious. Our waiter was well informed and very attentive. Would certainly tell friends and go back again.
The kids had a great time coloring what they wanted on their pizza
I had friends (group of 10) in from out of town staying downtown with kids. This was a great spot for everyone. Food was delicious, reasonably priced and we only waited 5 minutes before being seated with our reservation.
Wanted to try out Eatly. Any restaurant was fine. It didn’t hold up to the hype for me.
Highly recommend as a place that kids and grown ups both can enjoy. Everything we ordered was outstanding. I do wish they had some cheaper basic table wine options, as often with this kind of food just a simple balanced basic wine is good enough. That said, the single glass pours are generous and enough for my wife and I to share.
A very interesting group of restaurants within Eastaly following the setup of the well-known New York City establishment. Reservations are needed since it was very crowded on a Saturday evening in June. The building comprises a several small Italian restaurants and a larger La Pizza again delicious. My wife had a personal pizza (large portions) Margherita Rustica which had tomato sauce, oregano, garlic, buffalo mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, and basil on a nicely done pizza shell. Service was a bit abrupt and the restaurant was noisy. Lots of places to shop around inside for Italian specialty foods and wines.
Pizza was undercooked and not great for the price. Nothing memorable about the food especially for the price.
We’ve been to the Boston location of restaurants, which was much, much better. Disappointing.
We made a reservation, so we were seated right away. Bread and oil were placed on the table. Very good. The waiter took our order, but wasn’t very attentive. I had the pasta with braised short rib. Absolutely delicious! My partner had the goat cheese ravioli with mushrooms. Delicious as well. It’s a little hectic at this restaurant, but it’s worth it. The food and experience was fantastic!
Good things- tasty food, fun atmosphere. But it was BUSY. So busy we didn’t get our water refilled, or an extra drink order in. Food is delicious and quick (quick food, not quick service), though the kids pizzas were not cooked 100% through so there was a little raw dough in the “ears” (they shape the pizzas for kids into animals). Also, it is fairly pricey for what you get. And my biggest annoyance was it said kids pizzas were $9 for one topping. One kid got pepperoni only, one got sausage only. And their pizzas were $11 and $12. No explanation on the menu as to why the upcharge. If it had been easier to get an employee’s attention, I would have asked why we were charged more, but I was just happy to get the bill in the first place.
Eataly is a fun place to go for a special outing, but I wouldn’t make it my go to regular place.
Food, beverages and service was great!
Did mention upon making reservation and restated when seated it was a special occasion (child college grad). They did not acknowledge in any way (was hoping for a nicer table). If they hadn't asked when I made reservation, I wouldn't even mention this part of it. They should not bother asking if you are coming in for a special event if they don't acknowledge it in any way.
Again, we ALL enjoyed the food!
What a fun place to visit! Pizza and wine made for a yummy late lunch.
If I am going to eat pizza, this is the place to enjoy pizza as it should be - it’s like a trip to Italy !!! The perfect meal here is a salad, a delicious pizza & a wonderful, al dente pasta. Save room for cannoli.
La Pizza & La Pasta was ok. I wouldn’t say it was great. We began with 2 appy’s. The burrata and the bruschetta. The bruschetta was the better of them. The burrata was salty and spongy and definitely not creamy. We had 2 entrees, that were just ok. One was hollow spaghetti noodles with olive oil mixed with cheese. Bland. The other was small green tortellini with mushrooms. That dish was good. The prices were ok. Don’t be deceived by the website which had a fixed price lunch advertised. When we asked for it we were told they do t serve that anymore. Disappointed. The wine list was good. Nice selection of Tuscan wines. I think the Osteria is a better choice if you go to Eataly.
Food was delicious, decor was so cute! Rice balls were to die for!
