Beautiful early fall evening on the patio. Excellent food and service! Feels a little like Paris in DC!
Our COVID dining experience was pretty good, considering how tricky it is dining out right now. Unfortunately we were sat at a table far away from the charming and well lit patio, right next to an alley which cars repeatedly used to turn around in. The lighting at our table was non-existent so we couldn’t really see the excellent food we were eating. I wish they wouldn’t seat so far from their restaurant, or at least provide better lighting at the remote tables. Food and service was excellent though.
Another wonderful dinner at La Piquette. The service and food are reliably excellent and the precautions they’ve taken for Covid made us feel very safe. We are so thankful for this neighborhood gem.
Eating here is like being transported to Paris. Love it!
Lovely restaurant with wonderful food and excellent service.
Wonderful experience! Ambience, service, and food were exceptional!! Thank you.
Our favorite restaurant, French or otherwise. Wonderful waiters and maïtre d's, great chef and manager.
Excellent dinner! The rabbit (Lapin Gibelotte) is extraordinary.
If you can't get to Paris this is the next best place to go!
Very attentive wait staff. Superb food. Save room for deserts!
Great as always!
Exquisite cuisine with excellent service in a charming petite location make La Piquette a must for visitors and regulars alike.
We've heard about La Piquette from a few friends and when we finally went the experience there more than met our expectations! The food was excellent and service was wonderful. La Piquette is definitely on top of our favorite list of restaurants.
We ate on the sidewalk, so the ambiance left a bit to be desired, but this was no fault of the restaurant. It's a unique and wonderful restaurant, an asset to the neighborhood and the entire region!
as ever excellent dinner at La Piquette , basic steak frittes done to perfection, confit of duck perfect and excellent soft shell crab
It was a great evening with friends with perfectly prepared food and friendly service. We were seated outside and the tables were appropriately distanced. Food was excellent and a very good wine list. Cocktails were delicious.
Amazing service and food. Portions are perfect and ingredients are so fresh.
La Piquette always has amazing food, but it is a bit pricey.
Service was decent but slow, food was mediocre so we were disappointed, not what we expected from a "French" restaurant with so many great reviews. Not worth $55/person (restaurant week offer). There are much better and authentic places participating in the RW with a $35 menu. (had: oysters, ceviche, steak, branzino)
Great food, amazing service. Love this place, definitely coming back.
We had a wonderful evening. The staff was wonderful and the food was fantastic! They have a great selection of French wines.
Nice meal. Nice evening.
Always fabulous food and service.
C’était un bon repas, simple et sympa. Le service était excellent.
Our very first venture to a restaurant in months, so naturally we chose La Piquette. It was a drizzly Sunday, so our hopes of dining outside were dashed. We arrived early for our reservation and chose seats by the glass front of the dining room. Started with rose champagne and appetizers of beets with goat cheese, salmon tartar and salad composee. All beautifully presented and exquisite to eat. Mussels, Scallops and NC Shrimp entrees were perfectly cooked. Held room for dessert and another round of champagne. Chocolate fondant oozed a rich chocolate filling, apple tart had a crunchy puff pastry shell and the creme brulee amounted to a Parisian detour.
Perfect service from beginning to end, attentive but not overwhelming. A delightful brunch that we hope to repeat soon.
Terrific food. Great place to celebrate a birthday. Thank you!
Delightful authentic French brasserie with excellent food, wine, service. Ambience -- feels like being in Paris
Best French bistro in the DC area - like being in your favorite Parisian neighborhood.
The patio was lovely, tables were spaced generously apart. The parking nearby was easy and available. The food was just delicious. And reasonably priced. Excellent for lunch.
Its aspect was bright and smiling, touches of brilliant colour showing conspicuously amidst all the snowy marble. The sign board, on which the name of QUENU-GRADELLE glittered in fat gilt letters encircled by leaves and branches painted on a soft-hued background, was protected by a sheet of glass. On two panels, one on each side of the shop-front, and both, like the board above, covered with glass, were paintings representing various chubby little cupids playing amidst boars' heads, pork chops and strings of sausages; and these latter still-life subjects, embellished with scrolls and bows, had been painted in such soft tones that the uncooked pork which they represented had the pinkness of raspberry jam. Within this pleasing framework arose the window display, arranged upon a bed of fine blue-paper shavings. Here and there fern-leaves, tastefully disposed, changed the plates which they encircled into bouquets fringed with foliage. There was a wealth of rich, luscious, melting things. Down below, quite close to the window, jars of preserved sausage-meat were interspersed with pots of mustard. Above these were some small, plump, boned hams. Golden with their dressings of toasted bread-crumbs, and adorned at the knuckles with green rosettes. Next came the larger dishes, some containing preserved Strasburg tongues, enclosed in bladders coloured a bright red and varnished, so that they looked quite sanguineous beside the pale sausages and trotters; then there were black-puddings coiled like harmless snakes, healthy looking chitterlings piled up two by two; Lyons sausages in little silver copes that made them look like choristers; hot pies, with little banner-like tickets stuck in them; big hams, and great glazed joints of veal and pork, whose jelly was as limpid as sugar-candy. In the rear were other dishes and earthen pans in which meat, minced and sliced, slumbered beneath lakes of melted fat. And betwixt the various plates and dishes, jars and bottle of sauce...
As always, everything was great. It’s the best in DC
Delicious. Worth the trip.
Delicious and great service—planning to go back soon
The food was excellent and the outside seating area was charming and spaced wonderfully. Our server, Edgar was fantastic. He gave great recommendations and amazing service. We love going to La Piquette.
Always good. Great service. Menu is pretty much the same as before Covid; my favorites are still there! Tables are more than adequately socially distanced inside. That along with the fact that the outside wall to the sidewalk opens up completely makes fresh air circulation possible, another positive. Outdoor patio seating is also well socially distanced. I observed first hand how long was spent sanitizing a table when the patrons left; a very thorough job.
We ate inside--risk averse about the weather and confident that La Piquette would keep everyone socially distanced. They opened up floor to ceiling windows in the front so air flow was very good. They also seat people outside, which would be good depending on the weather. Food was excellent. Sweetbreads--best I've ever had. Try them, you won't be disappointed! Soft shell crab was excellent, and the mashed potatoes that came with them were outstanding. Spouse had crab salad and scallops, both excellent. One effect of COVID that will persist here and other restaurants--value is down from the past because ingredients have become very expensive. Nonetheless, this remains a great place, don't miss it!
BTW, the restaurant was not quiet before COVID--it's a French bistro, and you want it to be lively. Now indoor seating is very limited. Let's hope this is not the way life will be permanently.
We eat here a couple of times a month -- including since "outside seating" became the norm. It's always a pleasant experience. This week they added a lamb couscous dish that was terrific. We hope it stays on the menu!
Horrible service and extremely dirty seats (visible bread crumbs, dust). Food is poor quality and the service was slow to non existent. Also never heard of a breakfast place with no side fruit. No one came up to us to ask how the food was or anything at all. Horrible
Food, as always is excellent...true flavor of France! And thanks for Francis for his warm welcome.
A place of sanity in an increasingly crazed world.
