La P is a destination and a neighborhood gem. The food is consistently good and there are quality wine choices. Like a bistro should be.
As always, La Piquette was excellent. Very attentive service, superior food (skate wing for the main course, a shrimp ceviche for an appetizer...though I would characterize it as a very French take on ceviche). The chocolate lava cake was fine but I don't think it was as thoroughly cooked as it could have been...the interior wasn't as 'molten' as it could have been. A very fine chablis to wash it all down with. I'm always very happy to dine at La Piquette, though sadly it may be a while before the opportunity again presents itself.
A quiet lunch with a dear friend. Due to COVID 19 the restaurant was not crowded. The wait staff were as friendly and efficient as they always are. The food was delicious.
Planning to return.
Food was very good, atmosphere was just buzzy enough without being deafening, and we enjoyed great friendly service by Edgar.
Excellent cuisine. Many choices. Nice location. The wait staff were helpful, courteous and friendly. Quite crowded on a Saturday but that is to be expected for a good restaurant.
Delicious food with appropriately sized portions. Ambiance is Parisian and so lovely. Bartender, server, hostess all delightful! Great location - I love everything.
We made the reservations to dine before a concert at the National Cathedral but we arrived 20 minutes ahead of the time we had stated and they cheerfully seated us Our waiter could not be friendlier or more helpful as we bantered through the dinner. I ha a very satisfactory salmon while my friends had the duck breast and the mussels. we were well-satisfied. One suggestion, though. The blackboard with the day's menu, (which did, indeed, have items not in the menu), was not well-lit and we missed an item or two we would have considered.
Another wonderful dinner at La Piquette. Fun, sophisticated and French!!
The food is delicious, the service is efficient and upbeat, and the ambiance very French, bien sur! I’m never disappointed.
We were a party of 3; appetizers were decent, but two of our three entrees were really no better than a fast food place. We have never felt so rushed to eat and move on. The wait staff felt the need to remove used plates or flatware the second we were done with them, and seemingly refreshed our water glasses after every sip. It was not a relaxing evening when you literally have to shout across the table to be heard. For the amount we paid, we could have enjoyed a more relaxed evening and had better food at so many other places.
A classic French bistro with very good food, a good wine list, and good service. crowded and loud. I could happily eat there once per week for a long long time.
The noise level can be overpowering when the restaurant is full, but it felt and sounded perfect when the restaurant was half-full on Feb. 24. The food was excellent, as always. The photos on the wall are a constant delight.
Except for the noise, this place is excellent. An informal dinner with good food.
The skate wing w spinach was super delicious 😋 as well as the sweetbread, and moules frites that my friends . We all enjoyed our desserts.
The food at La Piquette hit every right note. We ordered the artichoke appetizer - very unusual and absolutely delicious. The Caesar salad was the best we have ever had. My husband raved about the ribeye, and I had bass - handled with such a deft touch. Light and flaky with a delicious sautéed spinach. The service was just right - informative, upbeat, and accommodating. Any future trip to DC will include a meal at La Piquette.
Great food. Noise level so loud could not have any conversation.
Braised Beef Short Ribs, Sautéed Fresh N.C Shrimp, and the Canard Rôti à l’Orange were to die for. I could have been ok without ordering the Poireaux Vinaigrette (leek salad) as an appetizer.
We had the lamb and the ribeye. Both were perfect. The service was very friendly. La Piquette is everything you want a neighborhood restaurant to be.
The food is very good and the service exceptional. However, the spaces are quite claustrophobic: tables are only 40cm distant from each other so that they need to move them to help people to get seated... Overall, a bit overpriced.
Very good food, service, etc. I felt it was a bit pricey but it was a special occasion.
Love this restaurant. I always have an excellent meal here. Feel like I’m in France. Highly recommend.
Always a pleasure, no matter how many times we go.
Tasty and approachable French classics. Service was collaborative, genuine, efficient. Former members of the Resistance were also sprinkled around the dining room and available to answer any historical questions and expound on the present moment.
This is the kind of authentic French bistro you hate to recommend because then everyone will start coming and it will be harder to get a reservation! Food is great and service is very professional, yet friendly. It’s number one in our top 3 restaurant rotation for the DC/MD area.
Keep in mind this is a bistro—-tables for two are very small and spacing is close. Not the spot for a romantic dinner. But the service was friendly, good wine list and food. Recommend the duck breast; thought the dressing on the house salad was a bit acidic but the greens were excellent. Would definitely return.
Always wonderful food. This might be my favorite French restaurant in DC.
This is easily one of my favorite French restaurants in DC. Nowhere near as pretentious or uppity as some others, but with equally fantastic food. Great cocktails and wine list. Casual atmosphere without sacrificing service or menu.
Some of the tables can be a little cramped, but it's worth it. Definitely make a reservation.
Love La Piquette!
Wonderful experience, as always. Best bistro in the DC area.
Our omelettes were dry, tasteless, and overdone, very different from the same omelette I had ordered the week before, or yhe same one served to the table next to mine.
Well executed French Bistro classics.
I love La Piquette--food, service, ambiance. Very cheerful in every way, and it was exactly where I wanted to celebrate my birthday!
Great food, great service!
Noisy but fun place. I brought my own wine and there was no hassle about it with a reasonable corkage fee of $25. The veggie on my plate with grilled branzino was unimaginative. Delicious fish though
Fantastic. Every course was great, fish was flavorful without heavy sauces so often found at other restaurants. Tight Quarters, so if you are next to someone loud it could be an issue, but we had a very pleasant experience.
Love everything about La Piquette from the casual cafe environment to the always perfectly prepared food with great service. Also a plus - it’s very affordable!
La Piquette is our favorite restaurant in all of the DC area. You get delicious, authentic French dishes, the lively bistro ambiance, and friendly but impeccable service. Highlights of the menu are the pan-seared skate wing (flaky and tender), the steak and frites (proper frites, crisp and crunchy), the lapin en gibelotte (in a sublime cream sauce), the creme brulee (it’s perfection), the orange cake with creme anglaise (fragrant and light), and the marjolaine (a delightful variety of textures and flavors). We love coming here for a good dinner.
how can you not enjoy seared foie gras and properly prepared and served Dover sole (even when it's from Denmark)
It used to be so good! I had the bourride, which has been consistently great, and it tasted like it was made from leftovers, except for the mussels, which were great. My companions’ dishes also were lackluster. What happened?
