I love to cook so I find it hard to justify going out to eat if the food is something I can make as well or better myself. Well, at La Piquette I felt completely inspired by their dishes and cocktails, and totally spoiled by the amazing food and service. Thanks for making it fun to go out again. Nice to be in a place where you can hear yourself and your friends talking. Too many restaurant interiors are sparse and loud, not this one. The omlettes are fluffy and the croque madame tasty and crusty. And oh, the bread! Our server suggested splitting the creamy cauliflower soup while waiting for our main dishes. Lovely place, easy to park on the street on a Sunday or at the National Cathedral. On Sundays stroll over to the Cathedral to hear the bells peal.

We are new to DC and have a number of great meals here and have found it the best French restaurant in the area. Unpretentious and warm with great service, food, cocktails and wine. Exceptionally good for larger parties as well.

Never a disappointment. It’s as close to a Paris bistro as you can get without flying there. Atmosphere is lively and loud on weekends, a bit quieter mid-week. Food anytime is outstanding and so is the service. Highly recommend.

Attractive space - great food - champignons in butter and coq au vin was mighty good - good bottle of Bordeaux at reasonable price - spouse liked the steak and frites too - bartender and staff are very professional and cordial. Specifically ordered omelette with NO CHEESE, but it came loaded with melted cheese, which I ate by mistake until I realized it was cheese, not all soft egg. This should not happen at a good restaurant. They quickly offered to replace omelette and did so. As I was dining with someone who also couldn’t eat cheese and who had planned to split it with me, I took replacement. But restaurant seemed totally unaware that I had just eaten something certain to make me ill. Their fault. No apology. No offer to remove charge. If you have allergies, be careful here!

The grilled daurade (seam bream) was a deliciously, light lunch entree. The apple tart a la mode dessert had a buttery flakey crust with slightly dehydrated apple slices baked just right. I will be back.

Food is amazing. Out of this world. Hands down better than le diplomat that everyone raves about. Authentic dishes, great cocktails, and the ambience makes us feel like we’re back in France. The service was not good. Had to wait for everything (to order, for water, the tab) by trying to catch their attention. This is the third time we have eaten there and the prior two times the service was impeccable. I don’t know what happened but this time it was horrible!

Really nice birthday greeting from host when we walked in. Server was a bit slow (too many assigned tables?) and a little disinterested. Goat cheese and beet salad was delicious, as was the short rib entree. Wonderful preparation and flavors. The cheese plate was the only disappointment food-wise (no bread included, no real variety, soft cheeses, or color/garnish (jams/spreads). The orange cake with candle was a nice touch at the end. Overall, loved the food and will be back!

This was a last minute reservation and everything about the experience was delightful. We sat outdoors, the weather was wonderful and the food was delicious. Look forward to the next time. Live in the neighborhood and have wanted to go for a long time. Glad we did.

A friend from Florida visits DC occasionally and remarked that she would most definitely return to La Piquette. We loved our dishes, dessert, quieter seating outside, and service that allowed us to linger. It was a fantastic lunch. Both of us will return.

As always, CONSISTENTLY great food. Every one of the dishes for all 6 of us was terrific. Service was very good, though it took 4-5 asks to get some butter--not the usual for this restaurant. The noise level was OK when we arrived at 6:00, but by the time we left--after some very good deserts--it was way too noisy for everyone in our party. Next time we will book a table on the deck outside where it the noise is not much of an issue. We didn't book there this time because of the very high heat and the severe thunderstorm warnings, but I wish we had.
