I love this place. The food is excellent. The only thing I would ask is that they put the skate on the menu permanently because it is so delicious!

As always a good meal good service and nice atmosphere. The noise level was a bit intense and the waiter forgot one of our desserts but otherwise an above normal service experience given how busy it was. The fish is always cooked to perfection. Wine recommendations were spot on. It’s a go-to neighborhood place that is surprisingly consistent. And always a nice evening. Like everything else it’s gotten more expensive than it should be. Average fish main course in the $40s….a rather small tomato salad starter was over $20…

La Piquette is reminiscent of dining in a Parisienne Brasserie. Outstanding service, cocktails and food! The French martini was frosty and delicious—the pineapple juice adds a touch of sweetness without being overpowering. The fresh French bread is worth mentioning—served warm, crusty on the outside and light and soft on the inside. We started with the potato leek soup served warm—the fresh herbaceous taste of the leeks shines through the smooth creaminess of the potatoes. The tartelette tomate did not disappoint—a burst of fresh warm tomato combines with the goat cheese and buttery crust. My husband raved about trout meunière. I enjoyed the canard à l’orange—this dish is consistently delicious served with vinegary braised greens (don’t skip the greens they are a highlight) and creamy potatoes. We had to have a side order of the frites because they are some of the best we’ve ever had—generous portion served crispy and piping hot. As this was a birthday celebration, we topped off the meal sharing a generous slice of gâteau à l’orange—served warm with crème anglaise. The lightly sweet moist flavorful cake has a notably delicate texture. Another outstanding dining experience at this DC gem.

We just came to town for two days from New York City. & a friend in the DC food community recognized you so we made a reservation. We sat outdoors on the beautiful spring night, we had an excellent waiter who gave us very professional & friendly service. We loved our food. It was authentically French, & it was delicious.

We dine at La Piquette regularly, but one of our most favorite dining experiences is the Easter luncheon after church, which is a pre fixe menu. They do a perfect job of assembling some of their more popular a-la-carte items, as well as classic French dishes and some surprises. As one might imagine, we return for the excellent service, drinks, wine list, and cuisine. It’s always delightful.
