A neighborhood Bistrot located in Cleveland Park that stays faithful to its French roots offering the best French dishes on this side of the Atlantic
Executive Chef Francis Layrle prepares a daily menu with farm raised and seasonal fresh ingredients. The bar offers a carefully curated wine selection and house cocktails. La Piquette presents an authentic bistrot atmosphere the way it is meant to be: fun, simple and delicious.
how can you not enjoy seared foie gras and properly prepared and served Dover sole (even when it's from Denmark)
It used to be so good! I had the bourride, which has been consistently great, and it tasted like it was made from leftovers, except for the mussels, which were great. My companions’ dishes also were lackluster. What happened?
The salads were minuscule. The entree was tasty, but also small portioned. The service was great, and the ambience was pleasant.
I love this neighborhood gem. The food is consistently good, the service attentive and the atmosphere friendly and lively. La Piquette is one of my favorite to-go-to restaurants when I have friends or family visiting from out of town.
Although noise levels in this always busy restaurant are difficult for the harder of hearing, the wait staff is very attentive to one’s needs and the food is worth every effort. Wonderful menu with always delicious specials makes this a great choice for celebrations and “I don’t want to cook” days. Early reservations may net a quieter spot in the space.
Went during restaurant week. Lots of choices and everything was truly outstanding. We had the skate fish (beautifully prepared) and coq au vin. Both were great. Desserts delicious. Very impressed with this restaurant! Will return soon.
Our first visit to La Piquette, during restaurant week. French bistro, right out of Paris. Unlike many other restaurant week restaurants, serving sizes were large. We arrived 30 minutes early, but unlike other places that would make you wait we were seated immediately--and able to change tables without problem to accommodate a large man jammed between his table and ours, which would have been uncomfortable for both of us. Highlights of the meal: Sweetbreads - best I've ever had. Skate wing and trout both beautifully prepared, great sauces--light, didn't smother the fish. Tart for dessert really good. Excellent wine list, selected a great Bordeaux blanc--great wine, absolutely fair price. If we lived nearby, this would be our go-to restaurant.
My second visit; first during Restaurant Week. The three of us all found the restaurant charming with food representative of an authentic French bistro. The RW menu was ample with good choices and almost no "upcharges." Mygolden beet appetizer was both large and sensational. The mushroom risotto main course was outstanding and beautifully seasoned. For all that, the dessert, the Gateau L'Orange with crème anglais was my favorite dish of the evening. The RW meal was a complete bargain, but I'll be back again at normal prices. A gem.
Quality food and service! Waiters are attentive and food comes out quickly and tastes great!
Restaura tween drawsthe crowds luckily they had thinners bit by 8:30 pm Tuesday. Good choices for RW me u. Not too loud but it's usually too loud when full. Good food always.
A great experience as always at Washington's best French bistro
La Piquette has the charm and food quality of a very good Parisian Bistro. The serving staff was attentive and did not to rush us along even as the restaurant began to fill. We also enjoyed the Restaurant Week fix prix menu which had variety and great presentation.
This was our first visit to La Piquette as we tried it during Restaurant Week. The food was very good but our entree slipped through the cracks for almost an hour. We didn't have the extra time and were annoyed. They did comp my husband's glasses of wine but probably not going to make our repeat list.
Special friends dinner for someone retiring.
Lovely brunch- crab and avocado salad was completely faultless.
We come to La Piquette every time we visit Washington DC. The menu is extensive and food is prepared exquisitely. Chef Francois is a master. Interesting variation on Duck a l 'orange and a rabbit stew. the recommended Bordeaux paired perfectly. Service was impeccable.
Best meal that I have had recently. Excellent food and wine, not pretentious. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent and we enjoyed the time engaging in conversation.
Good food and nice service, but please do not list this as a restaurant in Cleveland Park. It is NOT in Cleveland Park; it is in Cathedral Heights.
As always excellent food and service. We love La Piquette and its team.
We had a great late lunch after a movie at Piquette. It’s like being back in France.
We have been at La Piquette a number of times before and as usual, the food did not disappoint. Tasty, innovative and reasonably priced. This time, however, we were with a friend who has some hearing issues and the noise level was just too high to make the evening as pleasurable as it should have been. There must be a way to absorb sound while maintaining the bustling bistro like quality of the restaurant. I hope they can figure out a way to do it.
Amazing place. If you want a "go-to" French Bistro - this is it! Bread comes in a bag - great taste and texture and always warm. Food is high-end but not the price - it's a taste of France with a countryside appeal. Parking is on-street and can be a challenge unless you don't mind a walk (but we never looked for public parking either). Oh, the name is not to be taken literally... ;-)
The place is very charming, a casual bistro style . We met friends for brunch and really enjoyed the food. The lobster cream salad was wonderful, very generous lobster portion. The sirloin was excellent and French fries to die for. Wonderful shoestrings that are crisp. Wish it were nearby to become a frequent go to.
The food -mussels and omelette- were substandard.
Bad choice for Christmas took 90 minutes to get main entree. People who were seated after us were served their entrees before us.
Had a fantastic pre-Christmas dinner here and loved it as always. The waiter was a true professional, gracious, knowledgeable and just attentive enough. Everything we ordered was delicious.
Loved the food and the staff was friendly and fun:).
Always the best dining experience when we go to La Piquette - it’s our favorite restaurant in the District!
Closest thing in DC to a Parisian bistro. Outstanding bistro cooking. The duck confit and lamb T-bone are outstanding. $25 corkage policy is reasonable.
We love La Piquette. Every time we visit we walk away totally loving it more than the last time. The food is off the charts amazing and I love the feel and the warm welcome every time we visit.
If you want to go to a real Parisian Bistro, this is the place. Great dishes from southwest France: pan-fried fois gras and Cassoulet.
Very noisy, very crowded. Waiters were very busy, so some of the place settings were incomplete. I was missing a bread plate. The next table was missing a fork.
Great place! Always excellent food and service. Highly recommended.
Outstanding as usual. I had the veal, my wife had the grilled rock fish. Both were excellent. Each of us also had the squash soup as a started. Great!. The place has a real French bistro feel. And there are many excellent choices on the menu from which to select.
Had a great brunch.
Another lovely meal at La Piquette! Top notch service and perfectly prepared dishes...from salads to desserts. The food is always flawless here. A lively place to spend an evening with great ambience.
1. Extremely expensive - sure, the food is good or reasonable, but the bill was unreasonably high. 2. The restaurant is way too loud and noisy - you have to shout to make yourself heard by your partner or guests - the restaurant is not a place to have a civilized conversation. 3. The parking options are equally not conducive. All-in-all, not worth revisiting.
I love this place! It's almost a little bit of a neighborhood bistro in Paris. I love that I can get sweetbreads and skate! They are divine!
