A neighborhood Bistrot located in Cleveland Park that stays faithful to its French roots offering the best French dishes on this side of the Atlantic
Executive Chef Francis Layrle prepares a daily menu with farm raised and seasonal fresh ingredients. The bar offers a carefully curated wine selection and house cocktails. La Piquette presents an authentic bistrot atmosphere the way it is meant to be: fun, simple and delicious.
With nothing more than good food (too salty for our taste) and incompetent service, this is not a restaurant we can recommend.
Everything was very good, as always, especially the rabbit.
The perfect neighborhood bistro. Exceptional food, great service, warm and bustling ambience.
Our party was promptly seated. The service was outstanding, many excellent choices of French bistro dishes...the wine offerings were well priced and paired well with our dinner choices.
We have been there many times and always regarded it as one of the best in town, but this time, the noise level was so high (indeed, off the charts) that our evening was in fact a disaster. There must be some way you can put in noise dampers without ruining the overall atmosphere. At this noise level, I suspect many others would-be diners will be driven away.
Everything from the atmosphere to the artichoke appetizer and mushroom risotto were delightful. We will definitely eat here again.
Freshest take on bistro cuisine in the city! Grilled chicken is phenomenal, as are leeks and beets appetizer, t-bone lamb steak. Don't miss the apple tart--thinly sliced apples on puff pastry with of just the right amount almond filling. Perfect end to delicious meal!
This was an unusual experience. Service at La Piquette, normally friendly and attentive, was alternately rushed and slow, the waitstaff seemed distracted, and the atmosphere chaotic. And while not the restaurant ‘s fault, during our meal two patrons arrived with a very large (and well behaved) dog who, due to his size, took up a great deal of the narrow space between our table. It’s owner made no attempt to find space for the dog away from our feet. Neither did the staff. We neither fawned over the dog nor commented on the situation. Nevertheless, as we left one of these patrons said in a loud voice clearly meant for our ears, “clearly not dog people.” No, I like dogs a lot; it’s their rude and inconsiderate humans I can do without.
I love this place, but the servers could be more interested in their customers. They make you feel that they are only there to take orders and deliver them, but don't seem interested in much else. They do nothing more.
Our favorite restaurant. We almost always end up there for any personal event and just for an ordinary weekend as well. We've been to most of the DC top places and we know that La Piquette can't be beat for consistency, menu selection, ambience quality and service. This was our 45th, and Chef Francis did not disappoint. He never misses a beat and goes out of his way to often check on his customers as well. Looking forward to our next visit!
We had a delicious lunch . The sweetbreads au madere are the best I have ever had even better than La Cupole in Paris. The service was excellent. La Piquette has a very informal atmosphere like a Paris Bistro. The blanc vin du jour was very nice. Parking if not available nearby on the street can be had in the Giant lot across the street.
The service was very nice, the ambience pleasant but the small tables and closeness of the tables was a bit challenging. Unfortunately, the duck l’orange was tasty and well presented but too tough to chew.
The ambiance is more pleasant in the evening.
If you prefer quieter, more suitable for a conversation table, ask for a patio table. The main dining room can be really noisy.
Service is good but varies a lot. Usually, better at dinner time.
Most importantly, the food is reliably excellent.
ALWAYS EXCELLENT! WE GO TO LA PIQUETTE REGULARLY AND ARE NEVER DISAPPOINTED. FINE FOOD AND TERRIFIC, VERY PERSONAL, SERVICE!
The quality of food has deteriorated. I used to love this place and now it is average at best.
The service was slow and inattentive. We had to repeat our requests several times before getting what we asked for. Ihave crossed out this place from my favorite list.
We were super impressed with the food, atmosphere and service. I was able to enjoy classic French dishes that I have not had in a long while and the flavors were amazing. We were able to sit inside near the patio area and enjoy the beautiful weather without having to be hindered by outside pests which we both loved. The dining room was great for conversation and the service was impeccable.
The wine and food were slow in arriving but the food is fantastic.
Charming, relaxing setting with consistently excellent dishes and welcoming service. The perfectly warm french bread in a small paper back is a nice touch that came immediately to our table along with water. Main courses were nicely portioned and deliciously seasoned. Its our go to restaurant for a taste of France in NW DC. I'll keep on coming back!
I had an excellent escargot appetizer -- a different preparation than I'd had anywhere before. My wife and I split our entrees of mushroom risotto and steak-frites. Both were delicious. The service was excellent, and the ambiance quiet. There were, however, a few downsides -- I had to send the steak back because it was rare rather than medium rare, and about a third of the top of my creme brulee was burnt. But these were minor disadvantages in our view when compared with the overall experience. We'll definitely be back.
One of my regular go-to places in the neighborhood. Always lively, staff who remembers you, food always delicious.
The food was very good, as usual. We have one complaint unrelated to the food or the service: We were seated at a fairly small table for two, and the noise level is so high that we has to raise our voices to hear each other.
Perfect French bistro ambiance, from start to finish. A bit noisy, but it’s worth the trip to savor the fish dishes or the beautifully tossed salads. Bon appetit!!
Coming from French people, Piquette is a very authentic French bistro. The ambiance is casual European, the food absolutely delicious (classic bistro fare perfectly executed), and the service efficient and friendly. I highly recommend it!
Always love eating there. Great place to be with friends and family
La Piquette feels like a typical French bistro. Cocktails and food are superb and service is attentive without being intrusive. I will go there again.
good food and value for money. Good if the restaurant could suppress the noise level.
Brilliant! Loved the food and appreciated the attentive service.
Everything was great. La Piquette is always a winning choice.
This is our favorite place to go in DC. The food is always amazing and the staff make dining at La Piquette a wonderful experience every time.
The steak was underdone (rare, when asked for medium rare) when I sent it back, it came back just as bad. Very long wait for food. I used to be a big fan, highly recommended it to my friends, but I will probably not be back for awhile. The patio was lovely.
Food and service was excellent. Too many great options to choose from. Read reviews before coming and there should be a wait if you walk up as the food and service is great. We have tried to get a reservation for weeks from 6pm - 8pm but we were unlucky, but saw a opening while shopping at Giant and pounced. PLEASE make a reservation.
We went to La Piquette for lunch on Saturday. I particularly enjoyed the Gazpacho as appetizer, as well as the sweetbreads as a main dish (nice and tasty sauce. The glass of house wine (red) is also pleasant and affordable.
I love this restaurant...and it is very very noisy
Great! The branzino was superb as was the apple tart that we had for dessert. The bread is always served hot and is delicious.
Lunch was very busy and servers had a hard time keeping up.
A wonderful authentic French restaurant. More like a busy bistro because of the noise level is high, but not enough to keep me from going there over and over. The food is well prepared and presented. The wine selection excellent. Service is efficient and pleasant.
This is our favorite French restaurant and our "go-to" place for celebrations, out with friends, or just looking for good food. We've been a fan of the chef's food since he cooked in Potomac, and we followed him to DC. The best duck confit, skate wing and rabbit in the city, plus canneles. How can you miss?
Couldn't have been better. Fine service. Spectacular food. All to make a 57th wedding anniversary perfect. We are so lucky to live in the neighborhood.
We've been to La Piquette a number of times and had another wonderful meal here. The service is always attentive, the food is very good, and it is a lovely neighborhood spot.
