A neighborhood Bistrot located in Cleveland Park that stays faithful to its French roots offering the best French dishes on this side of the Atlantic
Executive Chef Francis Layrle prepares a daily menu with farm raised and seasonal fresh ingredients. The bar offers a carefully curated wine selection and house cocktails. La Piquette presents an authentic bistrot atmosphere the way it is meant to be: fun, simple and delicious.
Although I informed the Manager, the waiter forgot to bring a candle on the dessert (a b'day celebration). Also, $33 for a small salad with very little crab in it, is a little bit expensive...
As always, excellent food. Service was very good. We were allowed to eat at a leisurely pace but the waiter was attentive.
Very reminiscent of a Paris Bistro, a bit crowded and noisy. All the food we had ranged from very good to excellent. The soup of the day was cauliflower - absolutely superb. I would highly recommend it
We arrived early for Sunday dinner so the cozy restaurant was not yet full and we could have a comfortable conversation. The food was great. Best Dover sole I’ve had ever. Tuna and salmon were a big hit. Service was excellent and friendly. Once the tables fill up, it’s a bit noisy.
My wife and had had lunch here for Valentines Day. The food was great. We both had French onion soup, trout and apple torte. The French onion soup was the best I’ve ever had. Service was a little slow although they weren’t very busy. Once we were seated it probably took at least 10 minutes before any took our drink orders. Admittedly we weren’t in a hurry but had we been it would have been annoying. Also, near the end of our meal I had to flag down a waiter to get additional water and iced tram. Overall I rated the place a 4 due to the quality of the food and it’s a quaint neighborhood restaurant.
Felt like we were in Paris!
I love this restaurant. I feel like I’m in Paris every time I eat there. I’ve never had a bad meal there. The food is always wonderful. All the staff is super attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant. It is one of my all time favorites.
Food was lovely. Waiter was efficient but indifferent. The runner who brought the food was very nice. I had identified when asked that this was a birthday when I made the reservation but it went unremarked upon. Why bother asking?
Outstanding as always, though unfortunately, since it's not inexpensive, it must remain a special treat. Totally worth it, though.
We all cannot get on plane and fly to Paris for a bistro meal. When you step through the door take it in and think of a favorite bistro meals and you will be transported by La Piquette! Make room for wonderful food and sharing.
A refreshing find. All the elements of a lovely bistro in NW DC. Service was outstanding. Food was a treat
We had brunch for four. Nice crusty French bread, a good house white wine, marvelous fluffy omelette, beef tartare, risotto. All entrees were very good. Service was pleasant. Walking distance to National Cathedral which worked well for us.
Authentic French Bistro cuisine, always fresh ingredients and friendly, professional service. Consistently excellent.
There were too many people standing around waiting for tables. It felt very crowded. The food was very good though.
Good food, good service. A bit closely packed and noisy.
Service was slow.
Our favorite restaurant in Washington, D.C., French or otherwise
A wonderful evening for us all the service was wonderful the food out of this world. Merci!
We have loved this place since it first opened. The Dover Sole was spectacular.
La Piquette is one of my very favorite restaurants -- menu is always interesting and delicious... service impeccable! Great place for a special lunch or dinner....
The food at La Piquette is excellent, but on the bustling Wednesday night that I went with two friends the service involved a lot of trying to find the waiter (to order a drink, to order dessert, etc). I'd say it was quite loud that evening, and I often had to lean over the table to hear what my dinner companions were saying. I'm planning to try them on a quieter night.
Service and food were excellent. The only issue for me was that we were seated near the rest room and I could smell the air freshener/cleaner whenever someone opened the rest room door. It detracted from my overall enjoyment.
La Piquette is my favorite restaurant in the DC area, because of the delicious French dishes and the authentic bistro ambiance. For a long time the skate with capers had been my favorite dish on the menu, but this weekend I tried the braised rabbit that my daughter always raves about, and it was sublime! It is my new favorite. The tender rabbit in a complex and delicate cream sauce, over perfectly cooked linguine, is truly comfort food. For dessert I had the orange cake with creme anglaise, and it was utterly delicious, layering sparkling orange flavors with a deep hint of Grand Marnier. My family and I love La Piquette for all our major celebratory dinners. The food is that good!
Wonderful food, atmosphere and service. Like being in a Paris bistro. My favorite place!
I often order the steak/frites here and it is always delicious. This time I went for the duck which was really wonderful... cooked to perfection withdelicious sides of kale and mashed potatoes. Service is good and the ambience is nice, although a little noisy. It's my go-to place for good, traditional French dishes.
A truly charming little place. This was our first visit. We'll be back!
This is a wonderful neighborhood bistro with French standards.
Best French spot in DC! The chicken is not to be missed, the steak tartare is the most authentic in town, and the apple tart is to die for. LOVE this hidden gem right in my neighborhood!
First time there and will go back. Delicious food. Excellent service. Only drawback was the noise level. Too many hard surfaces.
Great Restaurant Week choice. They offer more selection than any other restaurant I've ever visited during Restaurant Week, with at least 6 choices for each of the 3 courses. I was happy with all three of my courses, particularly the beef tartare starter. If they could have offered French onion soup, I think that's the only thing that would have made my table happier.
Both food and service were outstanding. Chef Francis creates wonderful flavors and has a wine list to match. Service was excellent. We have been coming to La Piquette every time we visit the DC area and wouldn't miss an opportunity to dine there.
The tables may be a little close for a romantic date night, but the food and service are so excellent that it works. We don't usually go to restaurants we like during restaurant week, but the La Piquette Restaurant Week menu was particularly good, and we had no trouble choosing things we liked.
Excellent & the restaurant week menu choices were excellent & extensive!
La Piquette has been and remains in our top echelon of DC area restaurants. It's a quick excursion to a bistro in France, without the long flight. The lamb steak and skate are especially good, and if you like ris de veau, their appetizer version is superb.
La Piquette never disappoints. It is our go-to restaurant for a night out with friends. The atmosphere is lively and the food is dependably delicious. The house red is great, and don’t miss the gateau a l’orange. We’re so lucky to have them in the neighborhood.
I love La Piquette. They were friendly to everyone and treated my aging parents with care and attention. The food was lovely and the portions appropriately sized. This is a neighborhood gem.
We had a very nice meal. Highlights included a smooth and heavenly cauliflower soup, the Salade Composee, and the mushroom risotto.
La Piquette is the best French restaurant in D.C. The food is always perfectly done and the menu is a complete rendition of traditional French fare. The veal and the sweetbreads are delicious and the service is knowledgeable and attentive. The only problem with the wonderful desserts is that we are often too full to eat them.
Delicious food and great service
The food is very good but the noise is deafening. You can barely hear the person across from you.
The noise makes the meal unpleasant.
