Overall a great place. Will definitely be back.
Extremely slow service- we waited for our drinks for at least 20 minutes. Which appears to be a bartender issue- because there was no one at the bar and only a few tables full- so not sure what the delay was. 2 out of three of our orders were wrong. The table side guacamole and the chips were very good. Upon paying we gave an extra 20 to be broken because we needed more than just our change for the tip. Change came back $20 short- turned into an issue asked for the manager who apparently can never be found according to the bartender- or he refused to come out. Either way our $20 was eventually found. Unfortunately, yet another poorly managed restaurant has opened. We had a good experience a month or so ago by sitting at the bar with a much more professional bartender but tonight (father’s day) was a hot mess. And considering it was practically empty- there is no excuse.
Four of us went to watch a World Cup game, have brunch, and enjoy a gorgeous Sunday. We all had different dishes [savory, sweet, brunch, lunch] and drinks and even enjoyed a tequila flight.
The drinks are always yummy and the tequila flight was nice as well. We left it up to David to choose the three tequilas, but we asked for 1 blanco and 2 anejo as our only stipulation. We weren't disappointed.
The table-side guacamole is really great and you may request the ingredients and the heat level that fits your palate.
The staff are all very friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt. They don't rush you and they don't make you wait for anything. I haven't had a bad experience there and I always recommend this place to my friends, even though it's new.
The bar is great to sit and talk, watch sports, and eat. If you have a large group, they'll accommodate you in the private dining area that can be closed off from the main dining area.
They have patio dining with umbrellas as well. They also have a children's menu and children's night, if you're looking for a great place.
It wasn’t crowded at all, we had a party of 7. The waiter was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. Definitely want to go again!
This was our second visit and it was as good as the first in every way. The only negative was the cocktail special: mango and jalapeno mojito. Not good.
While the restaurant is very nice inside and the service is good, we were very disappointed in the food.
It is still a somewhat new restaurant, so hopefully things will improve. The decor is nice, the people are friendly, the food is pretty good, but the service is quite slow.
Food was ok. Service was poor; 4 waiters were busy having a conversation for 10+ minutes while we were trying to get their attention to order
The creativity of the menu was good but It would be worth fine tuning either which ingredients you chose to put together into one dish or possibly the proportions of the ingredients. It also would be good to have a few gluten free options, corn based tortillas not cooked with other gluten foods or in the same fryer. Then don't dim the lights so much it became very dark. The staff was very friendly though. We're hoping this is just growing pains of a new restaurant and wish the best for its future as things are worked out!
Food was just ok. Chicken mole was not good...had no flavor. Salsa tastes like spaghetti sauce but chips are good. Would go back for happy hour. Margarita mix tasted like a skinny girl margarita.
We went for mother's day. The food was really good. We've gotta go back for the nachos, they looked amazing. Not the best place for kids, not much they'd like there. I liked the music and the overall look. It'll be nice to sit outside when the patio is finished. But it was freezing inside.
Went here on Mother’s Day and had a wonderful experience ! The food and service was incredible!
We will be back !
First time at La Piña and we will return! Fresh, delicious food and excellent service.
Enjoyed the food service maragerita chips and dip. Looking forward to coming back again and try some other food on the menue. Very pleasaant experience.
We really enjoy LaPina. The service is excellent. Everyone is friendly and pleasant. The menu is a bit limited but the food is fresh and very good.
I've been waiting for this place to open and I was very impressed! Definitely a go-to for happy hour and food. Drinks were delicious!
We had a great dinner. The menu was very good and had different options than a typical Mexican/Spanish restaurant. Plenty of margarita options that also had a unqiue spin to traditional margarita recipes.
Service was just OK. Drinks weren’t too good; small and not much alcohol. For the overall price and experience, it wasn’t bad, but I’ve had better. Not sure that I would go back again.
This was our second visit and we were equally pleased with the ambiance, excellent service and food. The short rib nachos was a hit as was the tacos (we tasted a variety and all were excellent). Our waitress was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We will be back!
First time here and we will definitely be back! Food was amazing!!! Staff was professional and friendly. Went on a Saturday night and it was very busy. They haven't been open that long and still need to work a little on timing, but we appreciated not having all of our food come out at once.
Great pineapple drinks and flavorful Mexican food. Service was friendly and very smooth .
We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Everything was freshly made. We will definitely be back.
Nice Mexican restaurant. Good variety of food choices. They make lots of specialty cocktails. Artwork is unique, my wife and I would go again. Reasonable prices. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful. I recommend.
Food was very good. Pricing bery reasonable. Servers were very friendly.
What a great surprise and right around the corner. We are west coast kids, where Mexican was a weekly meal. We may be back in business,
My paella was mushy and lacked vegetables. Tge gucamole and chips were good!
First time here and will be back. Friend had 3 tacos for dinner and loved them so much he ordered 3 more (he has a big appetite, 3 would be fine for a normal person). The empanadas were warm and crispy, table side guacamole is recommended. The kids meal of cheese quesadilla with asparagus was a hit with 14 month old and healthy! My chile rellenos I wasn't crazy about - funky taste - but I will be back to try other menu items.
Service was exceptional!!
Awful service, watered down drinks , over or undercooked food
Waitress was very knowledgeable about menu and helpful in describing foods and drinks.
First time there and was very happy with the food and service. The server was able to give recommendations and answer all of our questions. A little pricier than we expected, but our food was delicious! The queso fundido was a favorite!
Our second meal there; this one on a Sunday, after an earlier one on weeknight. Another try at dinner there was aborted when (surprise) they were jammed on a Saturday night and we weren't up for a wait. The jury is still out. The main draw is that this is NOT like all the other Mexican restaurants around. Dinner options include nice tacos and some classic dishes, and also less-familiar fare (at least less familiar if you only eat at the other places near North Wilmington). That's a good thing.
Not so good (but things that might work themselves out in time): service might be a bit lax. Meals could come to the table equally hot. Some dishes could be a bit more generous. (else plan on ordering an app or two. The guac is good and some other items look interesting.)
We do like what they've done with decor. Seating is moderately comfortable. I've only tried one cocktail so far, a signature margarita that was decent. (Definitely no bottled margarita mix here.)
The menu was ver limited, much smaller than most Mexican places, and rice and beans were not included with the entrees, had to pay extra. The guacamole was made at the table and was good, although the avocados were small for the price. There was hardly anyone there, not festive the way most Mexican restaurants are, and the music was unappealing.
This was my first time. My son was home visiting from NYC. I hadn't seen him since Christmas. We were very excited about trying this new restuarant. The waiter told us they ran out of propane so we couldn't have anything hot. So we smiled and ate a salad and ceviche and guacamole (very small for $9.00). Service was very slow?!?! For the inconvenience and this restaurant being new, they should have offered a buy one get one on our next visit or a $5, $10 coupon for next visit. I felt like they were saying "Hey, dont let the door hit you in the butt" I have to take people out to dinner this week and told them if the food was good, we could go there but now it's absolutely out of the question. Won't go back.
Good spot if you want something than your everyday Mexican food. Only suggestion I would make is to add other drinks to your drink menu besides just tequila ones.
We really enjoyed the creative food selections! The octopus appetizer was very tasty and well seasoned. The pastor tacos had a well-blended seasoning along with the texture of the pork and pineapple. We also enjoyed the beverage selections of the flavored waters and ales. The homemade chips were still warm when they were brought to the table and had a delightful crunch and corn flavor. The salsas were freshly made and provided a variety of flavors of spicy and savory to complement the chips. We were there for lunch, so we can't wait to go back and try dinner menu. A great affordable Mexican treat!
Food was nicely and creatively prepared and presented.
It was a great place to celebrate my son’s birthday. We will definitely be back.
Great food! Unique atmosphere! Great service! The table side guacamole is amazingly fresh just like the Ahi Tuna Tacos 🌮! Also, the braised short rib is absolutely a must try!!!! We really had a great experience! Our only small gripe was that the Margaritas on the rocks we're so packed with ice cubes that they seemed about half the overall drink quantity when compared with it's frozen counterpart. But the frozen Margaritas we're great! We will be visiting again to try the ceviche and more great entrees!
Great tacos. Lukewarm appetizer. Poor drinks and service. Decent desert. Would not go back except for tacos.
Despite previous reviewer experiences, service was great from the hostess to our server Lexi! She was friendly and welcoming. Our short rib quesadilla and enchiladas were very tasty. Queso dip had great flavor and came out very quickly. Margarita was a bit pricey for the size, however my husband and I agreed that we’ll definitely be back! We were in and out in an hour.
