We welcome you in joining us for Lunch, Dinner & Sunday Brunch. Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine.

The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s been standing for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

We were in New Orleans for a wedding and it was my husband’s birthday. My husband got the rabbit and I got the cheeseburger and fries. My husband loved the rabbit. The cheeseburger was very good but I was not a fan of the of the
Gruyere and aioli combination. Very good beef and well cooked. Our waiter was excellent, nice and engaging. We will definitely be back.

Special meal in Garden District. Had been there for brunch a few years ago and returned for dinner. Did not disappoint.

Excellent food and service. They sat us at a nice window seat which was fun to watch the street and enjoy the evening light. Really enjoyed our food.

Went out of our way for this recommended spot. Just disappointed from service to menu to food. Waiter kept giving us others' food - and vice versa - totally out of it. He shared specials with the table next to us but not with us - so we ended up with one of the very limited selections on the menu. Burger totally flavorless and fries run-of-the-mill. In New Orleans as tourists, I wish we would have eaten this meal elsewhere.

The ambiance is romantic, quaint, low lit, but not dark. The food was incredible. I especially enjoyed the broccoli salad and lamb shanks.

Tonight was our last of 5 nights in NO - a trip I put together for my wife’s BDay. We had enjoyed tremendous dining experiences the first 4 days and nights - eating at some great restaurants, with our last night reserved for La Petite Grocery. Our experience was disappointing. The food was excellent - the service was not. While we sat...and sat...and sat waiting for our entrees, two tables on either side had arrived and were served their meals before we were. When we were approached by the chef (appreciated) and our server, we were given two appetizers as it was explained to us that a large party had come in and, as a result, our entrees were “mixed-up” - meaning they had been sent to the wrong table and we were caught in the vacuum. We were then asked the question: “Do you want the manager to come over?” I found that to be a perfect representation of the problem we had...namely that we had had to be asked IF the manager should stop by. I worked in the restaurant industry for 16 years and, the cardinal rule has always been that the manager on duty shouldn’t have to be reminded or ASKED BY THE OFFENDED PATRONS if they should come to the table to make any amends. Make no mistake....we will be back - the food was superb...Holly at the bar was great and your establishment has a very cool vibe to it. But we will come earlier and not with an expectation of greatness, but merely a fun, enjoyable neighborhood eatery...nothing more.

On a recent visit to New Orleans my husband and I ate at La Petite Grocery. It’s a 20 minute ride out of the center of town but worth the drive. We shared a simple but fresh salad with delicious buttermilk dressing. Then we opted to try some appetizers and sides. The crab beignets should not be missed... the best thing I ate in NO. The scallops were sweet and tender and the Brussels sprouts were tender and flavorful. We left felling full and hoping to return some day.

La Petite Grocery produces amazing food. From the Blue Crab Beignet appetizers (a must try!) to wonderful entrees and desserts ... the meal is exceptional from start to finish. A casual dining environment where friends and family gather to enjoy outstanding food and each other's company. It is definitely the restaurant to visit in New Orleans if great food is your desire.

Overall not impressed, had high expectations for such a highly praised New Orleans restaurant. Food was okay, Blue Crab Beignets were the best I’ve had, entree was nothing special. Had the beef tenderloin, needed more salt and slightly undercooked. Service was non existent, had to raise my voice to get the servers attention several times, and it wasn’t even busy. Overall I probably won’t make a second visit.

Four of us were in NOLA for a weekend celebration that culminated with brunch at La Petite Grocery. We had a great server, who happily took our photo, and the food was fabulous! Hope to be back again soon!

Amazing! By far our favorite meal in New Orleans. My husband and I agree that this was probably one of the top 5 meals we’ve ever had. We started with the hummus with lamb ragu with piping hot pita. Wow!! I could have eaten this all night. We ordered the slow roasted lamb with Persian rice. Fantastic. You won’t be disappointed.

We met old friends here for Saturday brunch. It was the first visit for all of us and we were more than pleased. We started with the crab beignets for the table. These are a must. Delicious! The ladies both had shrimp and grits and this dish was excellent. One of the husbands had the pork chop and he reported that it was very flavorful. He had been searching for a pork chop to measure up to one in his past and this one met his challenge. My husband ordered two items from the appetizer menu: the short ribs and a salad. He was pleased with both. Two of us had mimosas and two had Bloody Marys. Both were good, but I would get the Bloody Mary next time. The bar makes a special one. I had been warned that the restaurant was very noisy and it was lively, but we had no problem talking and hearing. We will visit again on our next trip to NOLA.

The best meal we had in New Orleans! Classic NOLA ambiance, the crab beignets were unbelievable, as were the rest of the appetizers. Would definitely go again.

This place was great in every aspect. The service and ambiance were on point and the food was incredible. Interesting drink menu, highly recommend The Great Conflagration. The blue crab beignets were one of the highlights of the meal. Would highly recommend booking reservations well in advance. But if you have to wait, it's definitely worth it.

We were thrilled that the bartender recreated our favorite cocktail from previous visits: The Ruby Red Reviver.

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the New Orleans area and we have returned to it on every visit to NOLA.

My husband, two teenage daughters and I had a wonderful experience at LPG. The menu has options for everyone and it was difficult to choose. As usual, we shared several starters, my husband had the lamb shank, and I shared the duck confit with one of the girls (our other daughter opted not to order an entree, coming off of several days of eating in NOLA, she was maxed out). We shared a dessert. Everything was delicious and up to expectations. The service was spot on, with one snafu being, the wine we ordered to accompany our entree did not show up until we were finished. Oh well, it did not spoil our evening and we hope to return on our next visit to NOLA.

La Petite Grocery had been recommended to us by several friends and seemed to keep popping up in magazines and articles I'd read, so we were excited to give it a try. Making a reservation was easy, as was checking in and being seated by the charming hostess. From there, things went a little sideways before getting back on the rails. We sat for a long period of time before we received water. Then, we sat for longer and longer, until we flagged someone down to order drinks. That someone was either the sommelier or a floor manager, who quickly sent a server over. Once we were able to order, we enjoyed both the food and the leisurely pace of our dinner. The cocktail list is solid and we were still talking about the delicious mushrooms in the ricotta dumplings several days later. In short, I'm happy to enjoy taking my time when eating and receiving food orders as kitchen tickets are fired, but get some water and/or a drink in me before the 20- to 30-minute mark, please!

Fantastic food, attentive service, and warm welcome. A bit noisy, but it was Raster weekend, so we didn't mind. A couple miles from the French Quarter but we'll worth the short cab or Uber ride. I for sure be will definitely seek La Petite Grocery out again next time I'm in New Orleans.
