La Petite Grocery
The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

Everything we tried on the menu was excellent! We had a wonderful time.
Visited NOLA and used Open Table for recommendations.
Picked it and weren’t disappointed.
Great food- all four of us had different entrees and they didn’t disappoint.
It was sublime
First time! Did not disappoint!!! Had the pork belly, the waffles, the biscuits!!! Everything was great
Sat outside, shrimp and grits were fantastic
My husband and I went for brunch and were shown to a table for two near the front window...great for people watching! We started with their loaded to the top Bloody Mary with shrimp and crabmeat and a homemade biscuit with delicious herb better. He had burger and pomme frittes and I had the shrimp and grits...both were delicious and wouldn't have changed a thing. Next time, I want the banquette seating across from the bar....so cozy!
Always a wonderful meal. Beautiful restaurant.
Great food and ambiance
service was excelent
parking is a problem
Every time is special. Every meal is outstanding. Thank y’all.
Love the atmosphere and the crab beignets. Lamb was good but not outstanding. The duck was a bit salty, but very good.
The food and drink are delicious, the service is top notch. Only complaint is that the decor is tired and looks to be in dire need of an overhaul. Paint seemed moldy and peeling in spots, and overall look is very outdated. Having said that, I imagine finances at all NOLA restaurants are precarious in the wake of Ida and COVID.
We went for Sunday Brunch and had a wonderful experience. The food, atmosphere and service met our expectations in every way. The monkey bread is NOT to be missed! We look forward to returning.
Charming and delicious. The Paneed rabbit was some of the best I have ever had, and other raved about their entrees.
The ricotta dumplings were always a favorite for me, and they did not disappoint this time either. The entrees were not to my taste but I made up for it with a delicious salad and the creamy grits. The other diners had the lamb and hanger steak and said they were delicious as well. In the past, special events were recognized by the staff but not this time. That was always a nice touch. I appreciated the vaccination requirement and may not have dined out otherwise.
Excellent food, service and ambience. Would highly recommend
Our server was wonderful and knowledgeable!
Service was outstanding. Food was delicious. We will be back.
From the moment we walked in, we were in heaven. The environment is romantic and luxurious. The maitre d' was kind and welcoming. The bartender was super friendly. Our server Cecile was lovely as well!
We especially enjoyed the gnocchi. We kept saying, "This is one of the best things I've eaten in a long time!" The duck was wonderful. It looked - and tasted - like autumn on a plate.
The turtle was to die for! The pappardelle was delicate and delicious. The Pinot Noir was just what I needed. I've always loved Oregon Pinot. And had not enjoyed one in quite some time.
Y'all made my best friend's birthday super special. We appreciate your hospitality so much. And we will surely be back!
2 out of 3 dinners were very good. The fish stew was a very small portion and was just ok. But the noise was way too much and we won’t be back. Too many great restaurants in the area and in NOLA for the money they charge.
Amazing., second to none in my opinion.
The amazing thing about our visits are the consistency to excellence and that their wait staff are happy and enjoyable...make their jobs look easy when we know they are really working hard...cant wsit to come back!
A little pretentious and execution lacking to justify the cost
We had a lovely late lunch! Food was so, so yummy!
Very little food for the value we paid. We ordered the steak and basically paid $40 for a plate that was 3/4 fries and then a steak on the side. The ricotta dumplings were delicious but also a very small portion. The restaurant itself was a lovey ambiance but just not worth the value overall.
Delicious food and cocktails in a lovely uptown location.
Always a satisfying experience. Food is great. Staff is wonderful. Drinks are robust. Wine selection perfectly aligns with menu options. Truly one of our favorite, go-to restaurants in New Orleans.
There was a friend oyster special salad. The oysters were small, perfectly cooked, and delicious. They came on a bed of sliced squash and zucchini , which made no sense whatsoever. Would have been better on the old iceberg wedge. Dressing ( on the side thankfully) appeared to be a basil oil but loaded with salt. Oysters on tomatoes would have been a winner.
I ordered my usual ricotta dumplings and roasted broccoli. Unfortunately, broccoli was filled with chili flakes— noticed tables on both sides of me failed to eat theirs also.
My server, Holly, seemed to be serving half the restaurant. She did a great job.
LPG is one of New Orleans’ most beautiful restaurants. I wish they’d change up the menu occasionally.
Always a great experience at LPG. One of my favorites.
Best meal we’ve had during our most recent trip to NOLA.
Selected mostly from the left side of the menu.
Also tried the gumbo- a little strange but liked the herby potato salad
Loved the ambient music too!
Delightful creative cuisine. Eggs Benedict on cornbread accompanied by fried oysters could become a classic
Great dinner and atmosphere
Amazing service only matched by fret food and creative bartenders.
This place is amazing, the flavors are mouth watering and very delicious, foodies will love the menue
First time dining at La Petite Grocery. The food and ambiance were amazing! The ricotta dumplings were immaculate as well as the turtle bolognese. The service could have been better
Great food, great service, great place to eat!!
Delicious food, great service! One of our favorite restaurants in New Orleans.
Wanted to have a fine dining experience. They had an outdoor seating option. Appreciated that the hostess confirmed COVID vaccination status. Had the heirloom tomato special for my appetizer. Was especially fresh as the tomatoes were chilled. Lovely salsa verde and nice varietals. My husband had the pork belly which was well prepared and tasty. Had the grouper special which had beets, string beans and made for a wonderful fall dish. Hubby had the lamb which was tender, served with grits and roasted vegetables. Was seasoned perfectly. They have a great cocktail menu.
Great service,meal, ambience.
Justin’s food is always amazing!!
