La Petite Grocery
The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

The beets and crawfish were excellent, and the paneed rabbit was fantastic. The red wine was very good and reasonably priced. Jeffery's service was friendly, attentive, and professional. Highly recommended. Am looking forward to my next visit.
Fantastic as always
LPG always knocks it out of the park. The only negative is having to choose between the specials and the menu favorites.
Holly bartender was fantastic and so personable!
Makes me want to eat at bar every night!
Everything we ordered was delicious! Yes, even the tabouli salad! But I dream about the ricotta dumplings!
Food is amazing! Definitely the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had! Service was excellent 👍
Burger was amazing, as were the blue crab beignets! Our group loved our meal there!
Best meal in NO. Had the potato dumplings for appetizer that were superb. So good we ordered seconds. Eggplant soup was delicious and not rich in cream, my shrimp wrapped in bacon with grits was the best entree i had all weekend long in NO. Service was great and atmosphere was classy with moderate noise levels. The two desserts we had were top notch, dark chocolate something and a pudding that i just wanted to take a bath in it.. Yum so good.. Will definitely be back.
Great food and atmosphere. Took waiter quite awhile to return and take our order.
Excellent food, beautiful presentation, innovative menu, great service.
Fabulous service, food and covid safe.
Fun atmosphere and delicious food! Would return :)
Jessie was outstanding, and the food was perfect the noise level made communicating with my date difficult and frustrating.
Jessica was lovely! Really enjoyed our entree and desert
I loved my date night at Petite Rouge. Our server was attenuative & accommodating (made great mocktails upon request). We got blue crab beignets & ricotta dumplings as appetizers and both were 10/10- simply blew me away with their flavor & composition. For entrees, my boyfriend got lamp & I got the flounder special. Both of the meats were just so-so, although the vegetables on the plate were very well seasoned and delicious. The mediocracy of the lamb & flounder, coupled with how fast everything came out, made me think perhaps they had been sitting for a moment. We had a late reservation, so that would make sense. That is only thing keeping me from 5 stars. The apps, service, and atmosphere will definitely bring us back.
Incredibly well thought out food made with quality ingredients by people who take pride in their craft. I’ve never had a meal that wasn’t outstanding here.
Lovely as always. Always something special on the menu. Love their evergreen items too.
A great find in a quiet, transitional neighborhood. Great food and service, and outdoor seating is offered. Would highly recommend getting away from the noise and Covid super-spreader environment in the French Quarter and dining here instead.
Lovely breakfast on Sunday morning. We sat outside with our doggies overlooking the construction ditch. The weather was nice and the food was good, so it was OK. Met nice people also.
Great service and great food in a nice atmosphere on Magazine St.
Great food atmosphere!
It was our birthdays. Food was excellent, our waiter Ryan the best. I highly recommend LPG
The food & drinks were amazing!
Great as expected!
The food was good except the lamb was a little fatty. I know lamb can be fatty so it was not a surprise but it could have been trimmed a bit. The cheese puffs are fabulous. Other dishes like the tuna were good and I would recommend that. The price for lunch was too expensive, more like dinner prices. Otherwise a nice experience.
We were told by our tour guide to try this place for brunch. We were a little disappointed that there was no breakfast as the place is more of a dinner place offering lunch. It’s quite expensive with a menu that is unique with many different not typical type of dishes. The food was pretty good tasting however I wouldn’t call it exceptional value. The restaurant is small but well decorated. Because it’s small, it was a little noisy because it was full. We were happy to get a table with little notice and overall we enjoyed our meal with friends.
Great atmosphere! Loved the Tuna
Great food and wine list. Been wanting to visit for a while. I will certainly go back!
We made This our last stop leaving New Orleans this trip because we had such a great dinner 2 nights before and wanted to try the cheeseburger for lunch and we weren’t disappointed.
Our #1 go to restaurant in New Orleans. Simply the best.
Le Petit Grocery has always been a standby favorite ! Last night the food was so bad, I couldn’t eat mine. The fish was stone cold snd the purée was congealed on the side of my plate. I blame the pandemic and probably the lack of staff. I want it to be my favorite again! Will give it another try in a few weeks. This is not the only restaurant that we have had this experience, everyone is suffering so we won’t give up
We came to this restaurant because it was on my son's list of places he must try while in school in New Orleans. We have eaten in many very good restaurants in NOLA, but until this dinner, I had forgotten what an excellent meal was. The menu is relatively small and I wasn't sure I really wanted anything on it. At first glance, it looked like a lot of traditional meats and fish dishes. I "settled" on shellfish stew, my son got the lamb chops, and my husband got the gulf shrimp and grits. We also ordered the ricotta dumplings as an appetizer. While we were waiting, the waitress brought us gougeres - delicious little bites. The ricotta dumplings were incredible pillows of love. My shellfish stew that I "settled" with? So memorable that I'm still thinking about it two days later. I really want to know how they made that broth: The flavors were so complex and pleasing. And I know that even though I cook well, I will never be able to replicate it. My family's meals were also outstanding. It was a real treat. It wasn't just dinner, it was a memorable meal. Thank you LPG.
Best brunch in New Orleans. Doing a great job with COVID cleanliness. Love this place!
Both of my parents are from Louisiana, and my brother is a cook, so naturally our trip to NOLA was largely an homage to southern cuisine and our roots. My brother was salivating over La Petite Grocery’s chefs cookbook before realizing we would be able to swing a visit to the restaurant during our short stay in town. The restaurant far exceeded all expectations, from start to finish! The service was astounding and I’m still dreaming about each of our dishes (but especially the shrimp and grits!). A must stop whenever in NOLA!
The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Our waitress was attentive and had a great personality. The manager came by several times to check on us and make sure everything was great. We will definitely visit here again on our next trip to NOLA
Delicious as always, service was excellent. Very helpful staff with all good suggestions and recommendations. Pome frites are delicious and fried beignets are scrumptious. My sisters b day celebration with my Mom and it was A+. She loved the rabbit and the steak sandwich was outstanding.
It was amazing! The food and service was perfect.
Excellent food, wonderful service, quaint setting.
