La Petite Grocery
The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

La Petite doesn’t disappoint ! Lovely meal and excellent service!
Excellent service, very helpful and knowledgeable. Interesting menu, I wanted to try everything and what we had was fantastic.
Can't beat the atmosphere. Experts behind the bar, in the kitchen and waiting tables. Very dependable all the way around.
Food was just wonderful! Always have a great experience here.
Late valentines lunch with family.
Food & service were fine. However, the menu was very very difficult to read - very small lettering and not very black ink. The wine menu was totally impossible to read as well as the check for the food. May not go back again unless I find out that the menu was readable.
Service and food was fantastic. Great experience. Loved it!
Awesome brunch for Valentine's Day! Loved the food and cocktails.
Everything the restaurant could have done was done excellently. The only problems with the weather, the pandemic, and the politics of New Orleans. Love the food service was fine
Everything was FANTASTIC! Our meal was delicious and dessert was great. We all enjoyed celebrating my birthday at La Petite Grocery!
I had wanted to eat here for a long time. It was amazing. The blue crab beignets where amazing! Drinks where Delish as well!!
Food was wonderful
As always, we had a delicious meal. Service was attentive but not obtrusive. Food is consistently fresh and top notch. Lovely room and adhered to covid safety protocol.
Great food, atmosphere, menu, beverages, and service. This was my second visit (last time was pre-COVID-19). The pavlova is a must-try for the desserts.
We had Sunday Brunch and the three of us throughly enjoyed it. We have dined at LPG several times, but never for Sunday Brunch. The Monkey Bread was delicious and had the perfect amount of sweet and savory (bacon).
My husband had one of thier specialty cocktails, Kentucky Saint, which he liked so much he asked the bartender to share the recipe...which she did.
We will definately be back next time we are in New Orleans!
The blue crab beignets are a must order. We sat outside and it was slightly chilly due to a breeze but still a pleasant experience. Everything we ordered was excellent and the service was fantastic as well.
Fabulous brunch. Everything we ordered was delicious and beautifully presented.
We love La Petite Grocery! It’s a favorite for special occasions or just because. The food is exceptional and the service could not be better! You don’t want to miss this place!
Great experience! The food was amazing as was the service! Great cocktails! Will DEFINITELY be back!
I has ricotta dumplings, rabbit, and baked Alaska The dumplings were good but unexciting. The paneed rabbit was tasty, but a bit dry. The baked Alaska was a spectacular presentation, and delicious; clearly the best part of the meal. The waiter forgot my dessert and coffee and had to be reminded. I’ve had many meals at this restaurant, and this was not one of the best.
One of my New Orleans favorites. The blue crab beignets and burgers and fries were so good!
It was so delicious. The baked macaroni and baked chicken were out of this world. Shrimp and Grits were unlike any we’ve ever had. Will go again and again and again.
Not at all worth the expense!!!!!!! Everything over priced. Scallops were downright terrible and the Smoky Chicken gumbo was dreadful.
Amazing experience. Mushroom soup was spectacular. Will definitely visit again next time we're in town. Really great ambiance. Wait staff was knowledgeable and efficient, friendly and respectful.
Our dinner was absolutely delicious. The ricotta dumplings melted in your mouth, and the apple and celeriac salad is a big favorite.
They always knock it out of the park!
There is no such thing as a bad experience at this restaurant. The food and service are always top notch and exceed all expectations. Burger is the best in the city and the ricotta dumplings are not to be missed. My favorite place!
Everything from the service to the food to the drinks was top notch. The crab beignets were perfectly cooked and enough for us to share. We tried both salads and both were great but favored the apple and celeriac. Entrees did not disappoint. I’ve never had more delicious shrimp and grits. The flavor was outstanding! The others loved their entrees as well which were the scallops, lamb t-bones, and the burger.
Outdoor seating is covered but at this point in the pandemic an establishment of this type should really invest in outdoor/ portable heaters.
The gumbo, chicken and andouille, is not to my liking. Very tart, almost vinegary if you will, in addition my bowl had very little in the way of sausage or chicken. The “broth” had none of the layered flavors you would expect from a good NOLA gumbo. The vinegar flavor pretty much drowned out every other flavor in the bowl.
My fish entree was well prepared, but portion size was MINIMAL, a trend I am afraid that is going to continue during this pandemic and beyond?
Service was courteous, if a little distracted. Long wait time for entrees in an all but empty restaurant on a Sunday night.
This was never an inexpensive dining choice, but there was always value here. Value in the foods preparation, quality, attention ,and service.
Not so, right now.
Steak was excellent and perfect temperature; potatoes were hard and undercooked.
2 burgers ordered at different temperatures. The person who ordered medium with bacon was served a well burger. The person who ordered well was served a medium burger.
Ricotta dumplings were delicious.
Server was definitely ready for shift to be complete.
Great food and service.
One of the best Uptown New Orleans restaurants!
We ate outside on the sidewalk. Service was impeccable; server made many great recommendations. Crab beignets were amazing. Turtle bolognese was excellent. We normally don’t ever order dessert, but took the recommendation for the strawberry ice cream and it was incredible. We definitely plan to go back.
Have heard many great things and was excited to try it out! The food was good, but nothing to blow me away. Turtle Bolognese was the best entrée we tried, bourbon selection was nice.
The hostess was great, but our waitress was not very friendly nor helpful which was a bummer considering we were excited to be there. I probably would not come back for dinner, but would consider happy hour drinks and apps.
Food always amazing. twist on gumbo - chicken and tasso. perfect. fish superbly prepared. ryan great waiter. drinks are perfect.
The waitresses was rude
Our server was very knowledgeable of the detailed ingredients in our dishes. The crab beignets were amazing! And the wine was a perfect complement to our meal! We will definitely be going back!
Birthday lunch with girlfriends. We had the short ribs, crab beignets, and ricotta gnocchi as appetizers. Great variety of flavors, the gnocchi are pillows of divine deliciousness.
We split the cheeseburger and turtle bolognese. Dessert was the butterscotch pudding and baked Alaska.
Food, service, and atmosphere were on point. One of my favorites!
GREAT food, service and atmosphere. Menu was really outstanding and the cocktails were jus excellent.
Everything about our dining experience exceeded all our expectations... a must to return!!
Thank you to LPG❤️
Wow, another hit on Magazine Street. Service was over the top and kept the courses moving. The dumplings were the favorite of the table.
The bloody Mary’s were balanced and the house pickled veggies were a welcome treat.
