La Petite Grocery
The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

Enjoyed yet another outstanding dinner with great service on 07/25.
Amazing local dishes in a bistro style atmosphere.
The food is superb and the service very efficient. I strongly recommend this restaurant.
Fabulous last meal before we headed back out of town! Service was wonderful and the food was fantastic.
Wonderful place to celebrate our first anniversary. Everything was perfect. Butterscotch pudding!!!
Great food and great service
Food was amazing,
Always a lovely experience
The seafood stew was delicious and the crab benigets were delicious! Loved the flan.
Don't ignore this: GET THE CRAB BEIGNETS! You will not regret it. Easy Uber ride from Lower Garden district.
The shrimp and grits were exceptional. The crab beignets were also delicious. The tuna was delicious but too small a portion for the price.
Everything was wonderful!
My husband and I spent a weekend in NOLA with our two kids (3 yrs and 3 months) and dined at cafés and white tablecloth restaurants alike. La Petite Grocery was not the most expensive restaurant we dined at but it was hands down the most delicious! The food was incredible and they were incredibly accommodating with our two children and even gave us a table with space to put the stroller next to it instead of us having to fold it down. Our three year old ordered the butter noodles (which they make from scratch) and they looked so good my husband and I had to each also have a bite. Overall a wonderful experience—excellent food, beautiful plating, and incredibly accommodating. We’ll be back!
They went all out to help us celebrate our twin birthday. The specials were over the top, and the custom dessert better than any dessert I’ve had at LPG before. Thanks!
Brunch was lovely. Food was wonderful and service was great. Highly recommend.
great restaurant - lovely ambiance & delicious food - thank you
Food was outstanding and atmosphere was delightful.
A wonderful experience, food is always tremendous
Our food was delicious, waitress and staff were kind and engaging, and the Resaurant vibe was fun and pretty!
While a limited menu it was well executed and the service was top notch
Great atmosphere, service and quality. Would definitely recommend to others!
Best ever. New favorite NOLA restaurant. Delicious pork loin, rabbit, hagar steak.
Started quiet and got loud-ish as more people arrived
Crab beignet batter was light and tasty and the filling cool and creamy and delicate, aioli was bland
Turtle dish was the best thing I tasted on our table, rich
The seafood stew with banana peppers was in a zesty wine broth that demanded sopping with crusty bread (not complimentary)
Rabbit was pan fried and a very filling entree with spatzle and the slightest drizzle of sauce and crisp sauerkraut
We had pork belly and a steak that I did not taste but they got a good review from the person who ordered them
Servers were busy but adequate and definitely not bothersome
Space between tables was sufficient
We came for happy hour and there was no happy hour!!! Very disappointing
Solid meal. Crab beignets were the standout. Unfortunately, the shrimp was extremely overcooked in the stew. Turtle bolagnese good.
Crab beignets were fantastic. Paneed rabbit great lamb bones out if sight great. All the dishes were beautifully served. Our server, I believe it was Martha was very informative on several items.
Fantastic service. The menu was perfect. We chose to share 5 appetizers and it was a delightful meal.
Great service from our waitress. She didn't miss a beat and we were sitting outside.. Shrimp and grits were excellent. The lamb was good. Mac & cheese was flavorful but a bit dry, needs more cheese but the corn bread crumbs do make it unique as it brings a bit of sweetness. Blue crab beignets were disappointing so was the ricotta stuffed gnocchi were bland.
Truly the highlight of my trip to New Orleans, every dish was better than the last.
This was my second visit, and it was just as fine as the first! Due to the hot weather, I did no main course, but combined appetizers: the heirloom tomatoes were very good and a very generous portion, but the ricotta dumplings were truly inspired, and the fried oysters were also outstanding. Creative cooking at its best. Also good wine selection by the glass for moderate prices. Michael's service was friendly, prompt and attentive, helped out by others, as in all well-run restaurants. Look forward to my next visit.
We had an amazing meal at this venue last night. Our server recommended the blue crab beignets, which were sublime. Everything else was fabulous, from the hangar steak with fries to the turtle bolognese to the shrimp and grits. Festive scene.
Can't miss the crab beignets! Cocktails and entrees for lunch were all perfectly executed. Can't wait to go back.
We had heard great things about La Petite Grocery and were happy to finally have dinner there. It was a great experience. i especially enjoyed my entree, a daily special of triple tail on a bed of lentils. Delicious! For dessert, the butterscotch pudding is a great choice.
Food was AMAZING!!
Very original menu with creative combinations and a variety of dishes. Everything was superbly prepared. The service was professional. The staff was able to answer our questions about the menu and the food was outstanding.
Everything was DELICIOUS and fresh. Service was outstanding. Our “picky eaters” left full and satisfied. One of our favorite restaurants!
One of our favorite dining experiences in New Orleans.
Food is wonderful fresh and locally sourced.
Wonderful! Loved our server—-she was incredibly sweet!
