La Petite Grocery
The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans.

The food and service was absolutely amazing!!!
The food was fabulous. The service was excellent. Please don't miss coming here.
An excellent restaurant with fresh well seasoned good.
This was our best dining experience in New Orleans! I made a mistake on our reservation date, but the hostess found a table for us. The blue crab beignets are phenomenal, as is the rabbit. Service was impeccable.
The food was so excellent
We really enjoyed it
La Petite has been our favorite restaurant in the city for years. We went last night for our son's 18th birthday. The hostess at the door was so nice and told him they would make his birthday extra special. That did not happen. Our server was awful. She had zero personality and did not even try to make our experience good. She brought out an amuse bouche with no explanation of what it was. When our son didn't eat his main meal, she didn't not even ask if there was something wrong with it and was there anything she could do to fix it. We felt rushed and as if no one cared that we were spending $300 on a meal. The prices have increased and the quality has not. When the server brought a scoop of ice cream with a candle for my son's birthday she just plopped it down in front of him and walked away without even a "happy birthday". I used to recommend La Petite to everyone I know including all the out of town parents from Tulane. I will not be doing that anymore.
Wonderful lunch, highly recommend!
Always a good choice!
We had to sit outside this time because we were late to reserve a table. We sat on the side street side. It was okay. Could use some fans and a little more shade late in the day. Give it a 2 or 3 for ambience, but inside is great. Our service and food was great.
Lunch was great. Grits and shellfish stew. And a oldfashioned drink.
Everything was delicious and beautifully presented, as always.
Always wonderful- we’ll be back!
Great food, service, and ambiance.
We will return soon.
We had such delicious food! I’m not sure if it was because of a Sunday or if we just hit an off time, but our food took quite awhile to get to us. It was roughly 75 minutes between appetizer and entrées. Will definitely go back, but keep in mind you may want to allow yourself time for a very leisurely experience!
I have eaten at La Petite Grocery many times. The food is always excellent and innovative. Service was superb. One of my favorite places to eat in New Orleans.
We introduced friends from out of town to the restaurant. It was a win on every level!!
food was outstanding!
This was our last meal in NOLA and was by far the best. The food was amazing!! Every bite was delicious. Do yourself a favor and GO!
Lovely restaurant with delicious food at a reasonable price. Definitely a hidden gem, I’ll be back. An authentic taste of Paris in New Orleans!
Simply one of the best restaurants in America. Eat here!
The cocktails and food were great! The service was impeccable!
ALWAYS a joy to visit La Petite Grocery and to be waited-on by the fabulous Chuck and team!
A little loud but very enjoyable
Incredible food, incredible service! Recommend 10/10
The LPG Cheeseburger! 🤤
Service great and wine great! Food was meh. Hangar steak, fine, shrimp and grits fine, seafood stew was gross (had a really odd horse manure smell and taste) and chewy shellfish. I should have sent it back. Snowball was a great dessert.
It was great loved our server
We had a wonderful dinner at La Petite Grocery. The service was incredible and the food magnificent. We especially enjoyed the hanger steak and frites, lamb bones and the crispy pork belly. Always a super experience!
We had an absolutely amazing experience with our friends from out of town. The redfish special was divine. I had the lambchops and beet salad - perfection. Our waiter was prompt and professional and easy to work with.
Stellar, lots of creative little touches on classic dishes, and really just a lot of thoughtful ingredients, seasonings, etc. The pot likker in the shellfish stew is such a delicious umami bomb which beautifully complements the shellfish. Blue crab beignets are out of this world. It was our anniversary and the service was very sweet and attentive, they made sure we were comfortable and happy, and it felt genuine, not over the top or corny. Pretty space, too. If you’re a bourbon fan, don’t skip the Weller Full Proof.
Server was excellent management was subpar and detracted from the experience. Can’t say that I’ll recommend or visit this restaurant in the future
First time back in a few months. The food is still very good, but expensive. Their popular dishes are prepared well with good flavors. The service is slow and not attentive. You have to ask if you want anything, like a glass of wine. They are very nice, but not trained well. Parking is a problem. They no longer have the lot across the street, and the side street is torn up. You will need a cab or uber unless you come very early. Over all we enjoyed our dinner, but they can and have done much better in the past.
Service was exceptional. Hanger steak was outstanding. Tuna was just ok. Dumpling appetizer was quite tasty, but very small and quite expensive.
Awesome food. Bar tenders were the absolute best.
The food was wonderful. We really liked our waiter whose name is Ryan. He was attentive and helpful when we had questions. Very nice guy.
Didn’t have a good waitress. Tables seated after us received service first and appeared to be getting good service from their waiter/waitress
Our waitress had an arrogant attitude.
There were four of us and we shared crab beignets as an appetizer. That was the best food item of the night. We each ordered a different entree...rabbit, cheeseburger, tuna and hangar steak. The steak was tough and served at room temperature, the other items were also served slightly warm at best and were only mediocre, with the rabbit being the best entree served. The side of brussel sprouts was also a disappointment...cold and seemed to have been prepared much earlier in the day. The service was not only extremely slow, the waitress did not engage with us at all and was not attentive. We had been there before and looked forward to our dinner there, but every aspect was a sore disappointment. Is this a Covid recovery blip and things will improve? Hope so, but I am not sure we will ever go back.
The blue crab beignets are to die for! The shrimp and grits were good, but not exceptional. Nice wine by the glass selection. My waiter, Jeff, was outstanding.
The best menu Uptown! Excellent vibe, great service— Highly recommend!
Food was solid all around but service point was so poor, it took away from the experience. Inattentive waitstaff. They were not rude but lacked professional level of service.
