American
La Peg is a contemporary brasserie by Peter Woolsey located inside the FringeArts building in old city Philadelphia across from the Race Street pier. The dining room is dramatic with 45 foot tall ceilings with large windows to match that give every diner incredible views of the Benjamin Franklin bridge. Designed by Groundswell Design, the industrial interior pays homage to the building’s history as a high pressure pump station for the Philadelphia fire department. The food is casual American inspired with options for the curious as well as the non-adventurous. The service is relaxed and casual yet informed and unobtrusive. Come in for a snack, dessert, drink, or blow out meal, La Peg will satisfy any occasion.

Roast chicken had been nuked making the skin, which looked crisp, flabby. My soup course was rudely shoved out of the way bt the server when the entree arrived. Wont return

I've enjoyed La Peg the few times we've been there so I can only assume they have a new chef based on our last experience. 5 diners ordered 5 different entrees and only 1 felt the meal was good and it was a cheeseburger. Everything else was very mediocre (crab cakes, turkey dinner, the special) or even bad (pork slider). The cheese curds are still great but really that was the only thing that was good. I'll wait to hear if anyone I know eats there in the future and what kind of a meal they had before I decide whether or not I'll go back again.

Bar service was poor. I was never asked/offered to see a food menu. Service at table was excellent but I felt the food to be of very small portions, poor taste and quality of food.

We had a 9:45pm reservation and our server kind of rushed us through our meal. The food was just okay, meaning one step above being nasty. I ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer, it was more like breaded crab meat with little seasoning on a bed of root vegetables and a weird cream sauce. It tasted okay, but I would NOT call it a crab cake. I asked our waiter if I could substitute the quinoa and squash for mash potatoes with my salmon. And that’s what I got, a plate of mash potatoes and salmon, he took it upon himself to exclude everything else from my plate (side salad and sauce for the salmon)! I could tell he really wanted to finish up an go home, so did I at that point. But my boyfriend pointed it out to him and he comped our beers which was nice. Overall, I would probably only go back for beers in the summer when the beer garden is open but that’s it. The food is pretty mediocre. I live in New York and took my boyfriend to philly for Valentine’s Day weekend as a surprise. The service killed the experience for sure.

I always enjoy everytime we go to La Peg. They have a very interesting and unique mix drink menu (I had the Apple Jack and the rest of my table change to it after the first round of drinks because it was so good). I love their pot roast and always substitute fingerling potatoes for their mashed potatoes, I have a slight addiction to them. My husband had the cauliflower steaks which are his favorite and the others had the burgers. Always a solid and consistent place to eat

I've been wanting to try La Peg for dinner for awhile. I attended a breakfast meet in here and the food was very good. The dinner didn't disappoint! The ambience was romantic. We asked to sit by the window and were accommodated. Our reservation was 5:30 so it wasn't crowded. It became crowded as we were leaving. We chose the restaurant week menu. The sunchoke soup was delicious! The portion was very small. It was vegetarian with a subtle flavor and fried artichokes on top. The kale salad had fresh greens and lots of pomegranate seeds, cashews and oranges. The dressing was very light and flavorful. The crab called good. There was crab meat but it was stringy not lump crab cake. It was ok for restaurant week prices but I would've been disappointed if I paid full price. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It was flavorful without a lot of sauce. The couscous was also good. The pot roast was delicious too. It had a lot of flavor. It headwinds dinner upgraded! Desserts were also tasty. The s'mores bread pudding was so.good with chocolate and toasted marshmallow on top. The pears macerated with bourbon were light with the right touch of sweet to end a big meal. Service was outstanding! Our waiter Clayton was pleasant, helpful and.attentive. Brandol one of the busboys made sure plates were cleared quickly, water filled and questions were answered. He was polite but friendly.

Great service, great food, great time! A group of us went to La Peg during Restaurant for lunch. We were greeted warmly and advised of the specials as well as personal favorites. The pace and atmosphere are casual, but the food was not! Sophisticated menu and choices, but not pretentious. Everyone of enjoyed every bite. We all agreed that we would return and what a nice time we had. Thanks for the great experience.

The cuisine was excellent! Seating was quick. The staff were friendly and attentive. I indulged in the Pot Roast which was the best I have ever had. The Paloma cocktail was a little harsh going down. Seating can be a little tight but the staff will gladly accommodate you. I'll rate my experience at La Peg a 10 because I have no real complaints.

We showed up for our New Year’s eve reservation, and I was pleasantly surprised that there was a DJ and dance party happening that evening to celebrate the New Year. Our entry into the party was free with our reservation because we were dining after a certain time. The food, the service, and the New Year’s eve party was a blast! I would definitely recommend this venue to friends.

We were there for NYE. It was a price fixed menu which we did not know until a few days prior when the restaurant called to confirm our reservations. The choices were good and a decent value. I don't think we will be back for NYE if they continue with the three course menu just not our speed, and ended up being very pricey. It would have been nice to know the valet was not working prior to our arrival. The staff was very attentive. The outside area looks amazing, but unfortunately was to wet to enjoy.

We went to La Peg for a New Years Eve dinner and to catch the 6PM fireworks (we were told that being on the waterfront the view would be great). The food and drinks were wonderful and the server was extremely friendly, but I found that the dinner was very overpriced. I spoke with many other groups that went out for NYE dinners with prix fixe menus who had much lower bills (or received 4 course meals or a drink in addition to their meal for the $65 cost). I suppose the reason for the $65 menu at La Peg (vs. $45-$50 at other locations) was the waterfront, firework view. But as it turns out, we could barely make out the fireworks overtop of the building right outside of the venues’ window. Again, it was a nice experience but not at all worth the cost. I wish I would have tried the restaurant on a regular night rather than a special occasion, but unfortunately I now have a sour taste for La Peg.

We would not return to this restaurant. although our waitperson was outstanding: friendly, helpful and very funny. The rest of the experience was not that good. The food was okay but not special, and the ambiance quite unpleasant. We froze and had to wear out coats, and the place is very dark. The music was rather annoying. The restrooms were messy, too. Not a place we would recommend.

Although La Peg was advertised as having fantastic views of the river and the Ben Franklin bridge, clear and unobstructed views were hard to come by...
BUT,
the rustic, industrial charm and decor and the fact that La Peg shares space with a theater was indeed a rare find!
Menu was eclectic yet also offered favorite comfort foods as well!
Within walking distance from our Penns Landing hotel!

This was a cool spot and super close to the piers for a scenic after-brunch walk. A friend had recommended their blueberry beignets, but that and a lot of other interesting menu items weren’t in stock for Sunday brunch. We ordered the toad in a hole and the eggs Benedict and both eggs were very over cooked.

Perfect French baguette went well with the extensive cocktail selection.

Service was horrible, rushed us to get our order, than took over 5 mins to bring us our drinks. Than we ordered our food which the menu on open table is different than the one they give you there, forgot half our order so we sat there till he came back and asked for it his reply was “you still want it?”
The tables are so close together instead of it being just the two of us it was a party of 8.
