La Pastaria - Red Bank
La Pastaria in Red Bank starts with classic appetizers such as fried calamari, mussels in marinara sauce as well as salads like the classic Caesar or the caprese. Larger dishes include Shrimp Arrabiatta, Chicken Valdostano, Double Cut Pork Chop Giambotta as well as classics like Sunday gravy.
Our waitress was horrible. She had a bad attitude the whole time. She was doing us a favor to wait on us We ask to switch a potato side for a vegetable and were charged $8.50 Another person in the group ask to to switch a vegetable for a side of pasta and we were charged $15.00. That is outrageous. The waitress never mentioned the up charge The food was good though
We have been coming here for over 20 years however we have been visiting other BYOB Italian restaurants in the area so probably had not been there in 6 months. Very surprised to get a good time reservation on a Friday night during lent. Was more surprised that the place was not as crowded as I remember. Empty tables scattered through the restaurant. Did notice a menu change and prices appeared higher but not too high for area. Everything es great from salad to desert. Will be back.
Excellent choices and food was great. Pear salad always the best.
Always a good time at this place, servers are always welcoming and the food never disappoints.
Went last night. Appetizers were ok. Meatballs and polenta with mushrooms. Took forever to get entree. I ordered “speciality of the house” linguine with calimari in tomato sauce (asked for it Spicey). Sent it back. Was half a bowl of linguine with poached calamari rings, half the bowl was pasta liquid, one piece of tomato, zero taste. Wife had chicken Milanese . Three chicken breasts that weren’t ponded thin coated in progresso bread crumbs and fried, covered in wet arugula and the mix they must use for bruschetta. No dressing , zero taste. Service was slow, had to get up and find a fork. And the restaurant is loud as a subway.
Always always relish t La Pastaria. Awesome apps and entree. Love it!
First time & likely the last unfortunately, restaurant is very cramped as we were seated right next to the entrance so those coming in for dinner were right on top of us. Took quite a while to see our server & order our entree which came out after quite a wait. The food was disappointing & cold for the most part.
This was one of our favorite restaurants. Always had good food and service. Well, times have changed. The place was full, not packed, as there were open tables and no wait at the door. The service was a little slow. We jokingly commented that we thought the waitress was stoned. Aside from all that the food was not great. First, most of it was lukewarm to cold, including appetizers and entrees. The lasagna had to go back to be reheated, it was cold. Second, it just wasnt that good tasting, very average. Just disappointing when one of your go to places has to be shuffled to the back of the list.
By far my favorite BYOB! For a Valentine dinner, prices weren't hiked up, menue choices were perfect and service was attentive and fun. Great night!
My food was cold
Perhaps because we were there on Valentine’s Day, quality & service suffered. Lasagne for $25 is over-priced, especially since it didn’t include a salad. Fish & potatoes were significantly over cooked indicating they must’ve been made well in advance.
Server was excellent. Food as good as always. Perfect birthday celebration dinner!
This restaurant is an old favorite and it never disappoints. We had our favorite dish which is no longer technically on the menu but our server (Lori Ann) had the chef make it especially for us. She was the best. The dish, by the way, is called Shrimp Arrabiata. The dish in a slightly different form is still on the menu but it's not served over Cappellini as it used to be but comes with a side of pasta. So she suggested that we order a side of plain Cappellini and she arranged to have the Shrimp Arrabiata served on top. Clever!!! and we ended up getting just what we wanted.
Home cooking in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. La Pastaria is our family favorite!
Over all the food was very good. The Fire Cracker salad was amazing! The Calamari was excellent as well! My wife had the Grouper which she loved and I had a Veal Special. The veal was tasty but the stuffed center was cold. I am not one to send food back but did mention it to the server when we left. The place was packed and they even had to turn people away who did not have reservations - so you better make them! It is a bring your own place but if you forgot, a liquor store is not far away. Our server was very pleasant. However, they may have been understaffed for the amount of people. The food came out on time but not much attention in between. If you can, request a table in the back area as the front area is exposed to an open door which exposes you to the chilled air and a loud bang when it closes.
All our entrees were delicious and healthy! Fresh ingredients and well prepared. Wait staff very attentive & friendly but not interruptive. We had a wonderful evening with friends.
We dine and and take out from La Pastaria often and enjoy this restaurant and food. Family favorites are the Veal Parmesan , Caesar Salad, Stuffed Escarole and most of the fish and salads. The Pizzas look delicious and will try those next.
Our server was quite distracted and absent during the night. We waited a very long time to order, we were not updated on our food and she didn't come by to ensure the food was ok.
My hot appetizer was cold but covered with hot marinara. We were not offered cheese and dessert was tasteless.
Food was delicious...love the BYOB! Friendly staff and our waitress, Jen, was so accommodating, friendly and made us feel so welcomed!
Dine here often last 2 weeks ago this is the 1st time polenta was dry & I bragged about to my friends we had 12 people disappointed also most times my wife & I
have the black ink pasta probably over 50 times it wasn't as good as normal never complain or give a bad review will be back lunch or dinner hope it was just a fair night
But the server was better than great
Just awful food, really
Marla’s service was super, attention to detail, excellent experience. Emanuela, the owner, stop at our table to check on us. The food is out of this world, very classic Italian, I would eat here every night if I didn’t have to work.
Thank you Pastaria , keep up the good work.
Service and entrees were excellent
The ambiance and service was wonderful. The food however had very little taste. We had to add salt to everything. NY strip was dry, squid in linguine it self was good but needed a better sauce.
Great specials and choices.
The food was great! Noise level is good if you want to be able to actually have a conversation too. They are great about accommodating larger parties and all of the food comes out hot at the same time. Not too many places accomplish this.
Superb service by Jennifer. Stuffed calamari is my husbands favorite - always excellent. I had the frutti de mar...excellent seafood on pasta. As appetizers we love the pear salad and mozzarella and roasted peppers.
Great time! Service was great food was great a bit overpriced but BYOB which is awesome.
My family and I were there for Christmas Eve Dinner. We loved the atmosphere. And as usual the food was fabulous. Very generous portions.
Also like that it is a BYOB.
I had made reservations about a month before. When we got there we were informed it was a price fix menu. We were not very happy in the beginning, we should have been told that from the start, however, food was delicious and plentiful. They had live music too.
Restaurant was crowded and they were short 1 member of the staff. The server did the best that she could. We were a party of 4. Two of us had the lamb shank. Nice size portion but a little overcooked. One person had lasagna, which wasn't hot enough. The other person had a pasta dish which he said was good.
We were going to a show and didn't have time for coffee or dessert.
In spite of not loving our meals, we would give them another try.
Best Italian place in Red Bank!
Was great we really enjoyed it! First time there we had a very nice experience. Food was good, no rush and then off to Beacon Theatre
The food was very good but the service was only fair. The waitress never came over to check on our food and we couldn’t find her to pay the bill.
I'd recommend the restaurant due to the quality of the food. However, the service was very slow and we had to constantly try to get our waitress's attention. The table seated AFTER us was being helped before us, which was frustrating since we already had to wait to be seated even though we had reservations. Once we did get our appetizer and meals, all 4 of u were happy with our food, so kudos to the chef!
Excellent as usual!
We are regulars and are always thrilled to take advantage of the specials offered. This week there was a spectacular cheese board offered as an appetizer. The presentation was beautiful, and the assortment of cheeses witH fruit was perfect to share.
Nice setting for casual Italian meal.
