This was my third visit to La Palapa and each time is better than the last time. It gives you a true sense of the people of Mexico, their culture and their love of good food and wine.
Superb in every way. Absolutely stellar service. Delicious food. Frantastic environment.
We were really looking forward to eating here and it didn’t disappoint. The view of the sunset was stunning. The food was lovely, just would have liked the appetizers to be slightly hotter. The waiter was great and suggested a shot of premium tequila, which on our last night we couldn’t refuse. The ambiance is very romantic. Take your insect repellents if you are prone to mosquito bites!
I decided to visit La Palapa, because a lot of friends recommend it. Then I gave it a try... not gonna lie, the food was delicious, unfortunately the service was poor and I felt left behind.
On the same note, when I made my reservation, i told them that i was celebrating my Anniversary, my visit to your restaurant was meant to be special, but again, we were not recognized and “left behind”
We loved our experience at La Palapa. Our server Giovanni made our evening so special by giving us wonderful recommendations. He was accommodating, super friendly, and knowledgeable. Every interaction we had with staff was great (Rex, etc.). The food was fresh and delicious; a foodie seafood lover's dream. We found the food to be a great value given the quality and care of the cuisine. That meal in the States would have cost a small fortune. In hindsight I think the appetizers stole the show. God bless those taquitos. Would love to have gotten even more dishes and tried everything!
Excellent food, drinks and service. We enjoyed a wonderful sunset at dinner also. They had two great entertainers as well.
Romantic setting, great service and food was amazing. A special evening!
I've eaten here a number of times and always enjoyed it. The food and location are excellent. However, on this most recent visit the prices were exorbitant. The waiter recommend a steak special without mentioning the price. The steak was large and good but when the bill came that single piece of meat was $140. It's not likely anyone in our group will go back there.
Our server overheard us talking about our anniversary and before we left brought us champagne. Above and beyond. Beautiful location and great food.
Service was outstanding.
This place is amazing, had a great time with my family.
Besutiful inside with outdoor in the sand on the beach for sunset seating also available. Mellow background live music 8-10. One of our favorite restaurants in PV. Always go and never disappointed. A bit pricey but as most things in life you get what you pay for.
Great food, great service, great location. Everything was perfect. Thank you!
Setting was very nice.
Food was decent but nothing special.
Service was horrible. Waiter was not friendly and seemed annoyed to wait on us. Once he took our order we never saw him again until it was time to pay the bill.
There are too many other places to go in PV for a nice meal, great setting with better service.
Very overpriced. Food was poor quality, barely warm.
its a perfect restaurant for a perfect occasion, i´ll recommend it.
We have dined here several times and always enjoy our visit. This time we came with our dog and we booked a beach table to accommodate him. It was Semana Santa so the beach front was packed but that was ok. People cleared out after sunset which was beautiful. The food was fantastic and wine good. However, we didn't get our wine for at least 45 minutes after we had ordered it. They had forgotten what we had ordered and had to bring wine list around again. We basically ate our dinner without wine. We had 3 different servers bringing food out at a variety of times. At the end of the evening, the "head" guy came out and asked me what we had eaten as they couldn't figure it out. I verbally had to explain we had a bottle of wine, 2 appetizers and a shared main. He calculated on the spot and told me the amount. It sounded about right so we paid it with no complaint. Not very professional. We realized Holy Week is HUGE in Mexico and they were very busy however they should have ensured they had enough staff to look after their clients professionally. This was not the case.
The setting is spectacular , but, the unfriendly waiters did not enhance the experience. The sister Restaurant, fight next door, has this restaurant beat hands down.
White linen cloth on the table while you have sand in your toes. Sunset dinner on the beach. Excellent ambience. Great food and drinks. Excellent service. Worth the money, and we will return.
Excellent service and music. My husband’s birthday with family was a fantastic success
The server was very uninformed and unfriendly. We requested a salad to share between me and my daughter and it was served on one plate. After requesting another plate we were given a small side plate. For the main I asked the server to request the kitchen to plate a tuna and this was served like a broth. We had no idea what we were eating! It's no wonder the restaurant is not as busy as it used to be. Would not recommend this establishment for the spend!
La Palapa is great but Buyer Beware - they use a higher exchange rate than the bank rate by about 10% and they do not tell you about it. You find out about it after the fact when you get your converted rate on your credit card. Example - a $70 bill will cost you $78 at La Palapa. Didn't experience this at any other restaurant we visited in Puerto Vallarta.
So based on this....enter at your own risk.
Views are amazing. Very kind to families and the food was really good.
The beachfront views make for a great location, especially during sunset! The food is always excellent with fresh options and daily specials.
I highly recommend making a reservation before sunset as the dining experience is usually spread out at least 2 hours to enjoy drinks, appetizers, dinner, and dessert. Definitely try the Mexican coffee, prepared tableside with a fire show.
Beautiful location, but food was just ok and service friendly although hurried.
Happy I went but will not return.
This place was highly recommended by friends. We asked to be seated with a beach view. There was none available when we arrived at our reservation time. We would have needed to wait more than a half hour so we were seated in the row furthest from the beach. Most of the food was excellent but I had a vegetarian dish that was too salty. Live music was beautiful. Wait staff very attentive.
Amazing. Sat on the water for our meal. Went twice during our trip, we liked it so much. Amazing seafood jumbalya. Not a ton of rice. Mostly shrimp and octopus. Perfect martinis. You will love.
Carte des vins , prix trop élevé. Très belle ambiance, musique, couché du soleil.
A table on the beach. Watching the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. Excellently prepared dinner options. It doesn't get any better than this in Puerto Vallarta! Make certain you walk down the hallway to the restrooms.....there are a series of photos comparing the area and Lapalpa then and now, 1958 and through the years....really neat!
La Palapa is a class act! They continue to be creative with the menu and present exceptional flavors. The service staff is super professional and friendly. We cannot wait to return for more good times.
The hostess ignored us upon arrival. Had to flag someone down for service. The food was good but overpriced for small portions. I live in PV and will never take a guest there again.
Casual but sophisticated. A cool vibe with a buzz and fantastic location right on the beach with gorgeous views of the sunset. The ambiance, service and menu were perfect as was the choice of musicians. So glad we made the trip from Nuevo. It was an experience we will remember for a long time. Thank you La Palapa.
The waiters seemed very confused, they brought our main courses before we had finished our appetizer course. Half way through our appetizers they moved our table because of a large group beside us, bad planning as the table was laid before we got there. They gave us a free round of drinks but as I don’t drink alcohol I said how about dessert but they didn’t go for that.
The food was excellent but I think there were new waiters who need training.
It is expensive so they need to improve on the service. We have eaten here before and it had always been great, this time service was disappointing
It was a beautiful evening overlooking the beach in the sunset. Excellent service. Very special!
Great location. Not impressed by the food. Despite all the reviews. Very under impressed
We always celebrate our anniversary there every year! It’s our favorite restaurant. We love the unique menu selection and great service. And of course, the chocolate lava cake!
Always excellent service and we love dining on the beach and watching the sunset, indoor dining is also available. Food is always good, and has something for everyone. We have been here numerous times and will be back, definitely recommend this restaurant.
We were disappointed this time after having eaten at La Palapa many times over the years. The wine pours were small and very ordinary but expensive for what was supposedly the house Chardonnay. The beet salad was delicious; the peach salad had little flavor. The main course, the shrimp, looked skimpy. Service was pretty good but we have had better in PV. As always, lovely ambience but just over-priced and not particularly noteworthy in terms of food. Sorry.
Very disappointing. We stay in this part of town for 2 months each year. We have generally been impressed with the quality of the food in the restaurants in this area. We were not impressed here with the food - especially the pricing. First we had the scallop appetizer. The scallops were cooked perfectly - no complaints. The accompaniments were good but not memorable. Then we shared the pork entree. There were 2 small pork roll ups on the plate. The food was warm but not hot. We asked for the pork to be medium rare - it was medium well. There was barely any pork. There are many other restaurants in the area with better food for the same or (mostly) lower prices. Don't waste your money.
