Mi casa es tu casa!!
Outstanding. Great food, amazing service (Gina is great), mezcal drinks rock the house.
Wonderful on every level!
First time at this establishment; food was good but not great, our waitress was very pleasant without being officious; nothing great but very nice and definitely worth a return visit.
Great Mexican place. Everything was very good, and served in a timely manner. Pretty extensive drink menu as well that’s pretty affordable. Definitely will look to go again sometime.
It’s was really good. The menu was a bit limited but very good. We would definitely go back.
They have the best Mexican in the city. I wish more people knew about it and went there. The food is authentic and delicious. They provide great service and they made the place really nice. I love the barbacoa and tamales.
Super food, service and ambiance. We enjoyed it immensely. The pico de Gallo was best we ever tasted.
The service and food was terrible. Our drinks were disgusting. The manager wasn’t very nice. We will never go back. It was the worst.
We were excited to try a new Mexican restaurant especially since they made guacamole table side. We were seated on the covered patio with heaters but it was still a bit chilly on a cold night! Waitress was nice but not around too much. The bar was short staffed so it took awhile to get drinks. The pineapple margarita didn’t have much flavor and the hot pineapple cocktail had a smoky taste.
Salsa and chips were not included and the salsa trio we ordered was a bit disappointing as far as flavor - as was the guacamole.
The food was ok - nothing spectacular. 2 of us ordered shrimp fajitas and they were mixed with onions and peppers instead of them separate. My husband got the wrong mix of enchiladas but didn’t want to send back so he ate it.
Cute atmosphere but we wouldn’t rush back.
This restaurant was not only fantastic, I was able to bring my kids. We certainly got a lot of food as well. I loved that the kids portion food items were not pricey whatsoever. My kids didn’t eat the food. I could never eat the food. But it’s nice not to Pay a significant amount for kids food. They did love being at the restaurant. I am gluten-free and it was accommodated well. My daughter is dairy free and they were able to substitute tomatoes for the taco instead of cheese. The only sad thing is that I did not order the tamales. My husband did and he did not give me enough of his meal. my margarita was wonderful. Not too sweet just like I asked for.
Wonderful. Can make food spicy if you like. Guacamole made table side. Would have liked to be able to have a house salad.
I used Open Table to request a Lunch reservation for work crew of 10 with space for boxes holding our secret Santa gifts. La Palapa provided a private room upstairs, and we were comfortable to speak and joke freely.
I ordered the refreshing and delicious signature mojito and the tilapia, which was cooked perfectly (not dry) served with a sauce that did not overwhelm the light fish. We all thought the drinks, food, and service were great. Returning with family, friends or for work happy hour is in our future.
The food was tasty and authentic. Our waiter was wonderful. I asked him if I could practice my Spanish with him, and he obliged. We had a wonderful conversation, and he not only helped me with my language skills, but also taught my guest and me about the cuisine. Get there early - the parking lot is small, and on-street parking is at a premium. Nice place, good people, and tasty food.
We sat in the back, next to the space heaters. It was comfortable and quiet. Service was good, food was good though a bit on the spicy side. Plenty to eat. We like it here and come for dinner every few months.
If you're looking for authentic mexican, you cant go wrong here. Tableside guac was fantastic. Wife and I think maybe the best we've ever had. Barbacoa was like butter. Prices more than reasonable. Will return for sure.
Delicious food and great atmosphere. The menu includes authentic dishes that are not always found in the typical Mexican Restaurant.
The table-prepared guacamole is a must! Will certainly be back.
Living in LA for over a decade gave me a strong taste for quality authentic Mexican food. La Palapa 100% delivers the goods on that score. And my dining companion, who grew up in Arizona, said the food made her feel like she was right back in Mesa!
This place is not good. Things are not clean. Sauces have food crusted on the bottles. There is food on the benches, and on the floor. The food is bland. There is no connection between this food and traditional Mexican food. The sauces are undeveloped. Everything has too much oil/grease. Things aren’t served with appropriate accompaniments. I have no idea who the people are that evaluated this place as five stars. Apparently they’ve never eaten anywhere.
My wife and daughter knew that I’d like Mexican food on my birthday, especially because it’s part of the Dia de los Muertos celebration. La Palapa did well!
It is nicely decorated and a little rustic. We were seated quickly on a Friday night, and there was a DJ when we arrived and live music when it was time to leave.
Our waitress was attentive all evening and the manager stopped by several time as well. The empanada appetizers were delicious. I really enjoyed my lamb shank, the first time I ever had one served Mexican-style. My wife enjoyed her seafood stew.
Thank you for a very nice birthday dinner!
Sunday brunch was delicious and service was excellent.
It was ok. Nothing special. No issues but just ok.
The food was as excellent as I’ve been told. We got the guacamole and it was SO good because they make it right in front of you so it’s super fresh! 10/10 service! My boyfriend and I were super satisfied and would even say that La Palapa is one of our favorite restaurants in Pittsburgh now!
This restaurant was recommended to us as we are from out of town. Guacamole table side was the only truly authentic or good thing. Fajitas were bland and steak was tough. Rice had no flavor. Drinks were okay but pricey. Servers were ok but immature. One of our party is not “petite” and they kept staring and making comments/laughing when away from table. I should have given them a much smaller tip. We will NEVER return.
Our food was good but the temperature could have been hotter. Fresh made to order guacamole was a nice feature and good.
Overall I love this place. Service was a bit slow this time.
We loved our meal here! The food was delicious, authentic and the service was great and fast! They even gave us a complimentary beverage for celebrating our Anniversary!!
I have been there many times and have never been let down. The tortilla soup is something special.
We had high expectations for La Palapa based upon a recommendation from a friend and the great reviews. Unfortunately, none of us (party of 5) really felt like any of our meals had a lot of flavor. I don't think we'll be back or recommend this place to a friend. However, the restaurant was beautiful inside and the service was great.
It was the hottest day of the year and the place only had AC on the upper level. The bottom was sweltering! I ordered the meat plate and the serving was completely dry! I wouldn’t come again or recommend it.
Dear customer, thank you very much for your patronage, your review help us grow and improve our service every day, we'll take care of that detail on the meat plate. As for the AC, unfortunately It broke down that specific weekend, we have repaired the AC now.
I had a reservation for outside table but they gave my table away because the AC was broke which was absolutely ridiculous. They then seated us upstairs in a tiny room with screaming children so we decided to leave. Not sure if I would give them another chance because the hostess was not apologetic at all for not having the outside table we reserved. What is the point of making a reservation ?!?!?
Dear customer, thank you for your review, It help us grow and attend details right away, I will talk with our hostess and make sure this don't happen again. Unfortunately our AC broke down on that specific weekend, we have fixed the issue and the AC is working now.
Great authentic food! Awesome people
First time there, food and atmosphere are great. Very good service. Will return!
I wasn't able to use my points. Someone I contacted at Open Table said they would contact the restaurant. I would sure like to know if the issue was resolved. I'm a little afraid to try another restaurant. Thanks, Sandy
The food was great and very authentic!! The tamales were my favorite dish!! The cocktails are also fantastic!! Highly recommend!
Amazing food and excellent service, my first experience at La Palapa was great. We dined early on a Sunday and were delighted to read on the twitter feed that a mariachi band had been invited to play that evening. I will be coming back soon!
Everything was fantastic! Tamales, enchiladas, mole, margaritas. Very authentic, fresh and flavorful. Can’t wait to go there again and try something new!
Food was great. Quick delivery to table
All 3 of us had something different and all were very happy
Table side guacamole was very good.
Such a great place to get some authentic Mexican food that is delicious!
