La Padella Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
Last night we ate for the first time at La Padella's and had a delightful dinner. We dined at a relatively early time and had the complete attention of the wait staff who couldn't be more accommodating or friendly enough. They took care of all our requests. And the food was sumptuous and satisfying. I had the pasta special, which included shrimp, crab meat, and spinach in a wonderful cognac sauce. My wife had the Pollo e Gamberoni, which featured tender chicken with shrimp, broccoli rabe, and diced tomatoes in a white wine sauce. This will definitely be a restaurant we return to again.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Food and service excellent on a quiet off-season midweek night. We both had the prix-fix dinner (had options for each course). Caesar salad and octopus apps very tasty, pasta course tasty and fresh, main courses of salmon and chicken fresh and very good, desserts fantastic. One of those great little local restaurants to find.
First time diner at this restaurant. Arrived at reservation time and no tables available inside. Weather was OK so we sat outside (as inside was very full and tight quarters). Artichoke appetizer was delicious and made me optimistic. However, chicken dinner was bland and so was branzino. Side of pasta was large but uninteresting. Menu looked pretty good but food was very disappointing. Mediocre at best at a fine dining price. Bus boy was helpful but waiter was slow and disappeared after bringing the check making us wait for change from this cash-only establishment.
So disappointed, wanted to like this new BYOB . They squish everyone together so you can't move once you're seated (we sat outside). The kitchen was unable to keep up with the orders. The food took a long time to come out. The tomato caprese was awful. The tomatoes were flavorless (definitely not Jersey!), the cheese portion was very small. The shrimp/calamari app was basically calamari with two shrimp. Good flavor, calamari was tender. The pasta dishes were mediocre at best. Beware of the overpriced specials (average entree $20). Nothing special about them, and you'll pay $38 for cavetelli that tastes the same as the frozen you buy from Acme. The flounder francaise was ok at best, also $38.
This was our fourth time dining there. We ate outside on a perfect night. My husband ordered the chicken Parm and he felt it was a little bit too oily and the chicken wasn't as tender as it should have been but it was tasty.
I had to veal with artichokes and it was very good But again a little bit greasy We will eat there again because it's a short walk from our home and the food is good
*Great addition to the neighborhood ! The food is very fresh and well prepared . It is Italian cuisine similar to what you would find in Italy not Philly! Our waitress was as good as the food. Have been there three times this summer and enjoyed it more and more each time. Keep up the good work, just delicious !
7:45 reservation. No menus or server until 8:10. Apps at 8::45. Main courses at 9:40 except for one which the waitress entered incorrectly and arrived at 10. It wasn't just our table that waited incredibly long for their meals, from what I could see it was most of them. The problem is with the outdoor seating they take too many reservations that the kitchen can't handle that many orders in a timely manner. The food is decent but the execution is not and we will not return.
Both food and service were just OK, not great. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing.....chicken parm. It was over-cooked and shriveled up. I fail to see how you can mess up that dish.
The single waitress had a lot of tables to keep track of so on that issue I'm more understanding.
There's too many places to spend your money on a meal, so we won't be hurrying back.
Food was wonderful, Grilled Calamari was excellent as was the Bronzino. Chicken was a bit bland but the veggies, crabmeat and sauce were amazing. Our only disappointment was the unnecessary wait. We arrived on time for our 7:30 reservation and were told that the couple at our designated table (Table1) were paying their check so it'd be about 5 minutes or so. We chatted amicably with friends from home who were waiting for their outside table and approximately 20 minutes later, we noticed that our table was being set for (4) people. When my husband inquired, he was told that the manager switched things around to accommodate an 8:00 party of (4) and we were now going to have to wait for a smaller table (Table 4) once the patrons finished their dessert and paid their check. We deduced that changes were being made due to the unpleasant weather conditions and would have appreciated the managers honesty instead of her inconsiderate run-a-round! Nonetheless, Luka our server made our dinner a good experience!
Restaurant is small but comfortable. Food was good, not exceptional. Prices were fair. Originally we were placed at a table in path of very busy kitchen and staff's aisle to deliver food. Also next to bathroom, should not have a table in this location as other patrons us before requested same. Not good thinking on part of management but they accommodated us when we asked to be moved to a different table. Staff was pleasant but hurried and restaurant overbooked. we May try this again on a non summer evening.
First things first, this is a byob (which we love) and cash only (no credit cards). This was our first time here and we loved. Food and service was excellent and not over priced like some others in the area. Would definitely go again and bring friends. Place is rather small so might be difficult for groups larger than 4 or maybe 6
