About La Notte Cafe
La Notte Cafe, located in Berwyn, is a real treasure! Opened in May 2006 and still going strong. The restaurant is the creation of Giovanni Matteo Mancini, it successfully combines outstanding cuisine in an elegant yet family friendly atmosphere. Giovanni is a restaurateur with experience that spans the globe from cities in his native Italy, Phoenix and Mesa Arizona and now in Berwyn. Delightfully decorated with pale coral walls and festive artwork, this corner location is large enough for a crowd, for festive celebrations, yet intimate enough for a romantic dinner for two. The staff is outstanding, friendly and unbelievably attentive. Most of their dishes are made to order ---their pastas and desserts are made by hand, and their entrees feature old family recipes. You won't be disappointed by the cuisine at La Notte.

La Notte Cafe Ratings and Reviews
It was a Saturday night and the restaurant only had a few tables filled. It was surprising that service was slow with so few customers. The calamari appetizer had good flavor but it was very tough and rubbery. My friend and I ordered a linguini dish with muscles, clams, shrimp and calamari in a marinara sauce that was fair. My wife ordered sea bass which I also tasted and we both thought was very good. Another person ordered chicken oreganato which I did not taste, but was told it was just ok. I was disappointed because the reviews I read on the restaurant were rated high, and with my experience, I was a bit disappointed. Maybe caught them on a bad night.
I really like the food at La Notte, but this is the second time we left with a sour taste from our experience. The restaurant puts prices on its menu, but it decides to increase the prices around holidays. We knew the exact same items were the normal price on saturday and increased on Mother's Day menu so we went on Saturday instead. When we received the bill, they decided to charge us the holiday pricing. When I asked the waitress, she said we have the right to increase the prices when we want to, "it's always higher on the weekends." I just do not understand how they think this is a good way to do business. If you fluctuate things that much, put market price so you can ask. Don't go for the gotcha moment when you get the bill, and we've been upcharged an additional $20 because you felt like it. I've given them chances, but they have officially lost my business.
My husband and I had a rare date night, and we decided to try La Notte. It always smells decious from the outside, so we decided to give it a try. We felt welcomed immediately upon entering through the door! With a warm greeting we were escorted to our seat. The restaurant was cozy and comfortable and even romantic. The menu was large, with a note that they also make many other dishes not on the menu, just ask. We were encouraged to try the specials, and we both did. My pasta was cooked perfectly. The ingredients were fresh, the sauce was great. My husband had a seafood dish and it was fresh and tasty. The service was excellent, quick, efficient, and friendly. We enjoyed our experience so much we have already gone back with the kids.
Not a fan. The food was quite good, but the atmosphere at 7:30pm on a Saturday nite was dead. We were 3 of maybe 12 people in the place. The waiter was loud and brusk...possibly drunk? They charged $10 to split a pasta dish between two people even though we ordered an appetizer and a side dish, which, IMO is pretty tacky.
Even more tacky was at the end of the meal, as I was able to fill out my charge slip, the waiter asked me if I could tip him in cash and not add it to my bill, because he get taxed if it gets added to the check. It was so rude, and put me in a very uncomfortable spot.
This Family owned restaurant is a Gem! They have the most delicious authentic Italian food and their daily specials are worth trying. I like the GF pasta and the willingness of the chef to personalize your dish by adding or taking away any ingredients to suit your taste. We have not eaten at their second location in Oak Park but plan on going to that one the next time we dine out. When ever we have a special occasion, this is our go-to restaurant but we dine there just-because as well.
We passed by on our way to the movies, saw they had finally opened and returned the next day to try it out. The food was freshly prepared and absolutely delicious! Service was friendly and attentive but overly. It's a bit pricey but not outrageous and definitely worth it. This place is a new Oak Park favorite.
La Notte always feels like home except for the fact that you never have food this good at home. The atmosphere is always welcoming, friendly, and genuine. The food is exceptional and you always note the pride they take in serving the best. This place is a hidden gem in Berwyn an oasis where one can relax and enjoy the pleasures of being pampered.
With all the Italian restaurants in and around Chicago, it great to find one that distinguishes itself in it's great food and personal service. I was also pleasantly surprised to find that they offer gluten free options, too. We were told that so many of their dishes originate right in their kitchen, that one can deviate from the published menu. I ordered a simple baked pasta dish, but am anxious to try more when we return.
This is the best Italian food around. Giovanni made special dishes for all 4 of us celebrating a special dinner. The grilled calamari is one of my favorites and Frankie always has a wine pairing suggestion for what we order. The night is topped off with homemade Limoncello which is outstanding. Cannot wait to see the new place and congrats!
We have visited with Giovanni, Angela and Francesco three times now and each time we eat at this restaurant, we walk away in awe of our experience.....AND with extremely happy bellies!!! We live in Texas so almost each time we visit the Chicago area, we try to make it to La Notte....AND we bring new people for each visit. EVERY BITE OF FOOD that we have consumed on our last 3 visits has been exceptionally fantastic.....the tastes buds are so very pleased!!! There are very few nice restaurants that you can say that about......it doesn't matter what we order each time we, all of it is cooked to perfection! We would recommend this restaurant to anyone.....whether the live in the Chicago area or right here in Austin, Texas.....our neighbors will most likely dine at La Notte the next Chicago trip they take!!!
