Not as amazing as I remembered from years earlier. Credit where credit is due, the paella was great (although it could have benefited from more socarrat (crispy bottom). The patatas bravas were not as crispy as they should’ve been either. The boquerones were outstanding - wish the serving was more robust. And the octopus was not only lukewarm, but in some kind of cream sauce that was not that flavorful. The ambience on 14th St is lovely except for the occasional subway and traffic noise that drowns out conversation. My biggest problem was the service, which was uneven and slow. One main waiter wasn’t as attentive as we needed, and two other staffers sometimes came by and took an order which wouldn’t come so we would ask our main waiter when we saw him again, he would bring it right away, and then the same item would arrive from the earlier order and they would have to take it back. I will give La Nacional another chance as I want to support España any way I can…but overall I wish I could say I was as thrilled as I expected to be.
Great meal recommend it
Good Spanish food . All dishes are cooked as in Spain
Noisy on a Saturday evening but that is to be expected. The waitstaff need some more supervision however the food is excellent.
Is a nice restaurant the food is really good and you can enjoy a good time
The food was delicious. Loved everything we ordered, Pan Tomaca, Watermelon Sangria, Patatas Bravas, Calamaras Fritos, Paella Mariscos. Service was nice.
This Spanish Tapas Restaurant is always good. The food is tasty and unique and reasonably priced. Good wines at reasonable prices. The inside is nicely done with comfortable seating and noise level. The outside is more casual and noisy because of the traffic on 14 St.
Not good Spanish food at all. The table was dirty and sticky. Service was slow and bad.
Excellent authentic inventive Spanish food. Warm atmosphere, decent service, Sometimes the indoor noise level is high. Their outdoor seating area in good weather makes you feel as if you are in Barcelona!
Celebrated my mother’s 88th birthday at La Nacional. The service & staff was very attentive and made my mother feel special on her day. Food was delicious as always. Suffice to say my mother left not even a crumb. Mother love the Arroz con langosta😘
Everything was delicious! Generous portions, reasonable prices!
Amazing authentic food and servoce
Our favorite tapas spot! Great food, great drinks, and great service!
Great location and good food.
Nice place to get together with friends.
Will definitely recommend to others.
A terrific kick off to Pride weekend in Chelsea! Anchovies are a must have!
Great spot, good food and vibe. Service a little slow but it was so pleasant we didn’t mind.
This review is from my second time at La Nacional in as many months. I love the food and atmosphere, and I love dining outside--which is a bit on the loud side, but, worth it. This is such a fine and fun restaurant, with a friendly staff, that I will be back as often as possible. Gracias La Nacional!
We really enjoyed the ambience and the friendly welcome but the food was a disappointment. Our paella was over-salted and underdone. I wish we enjoyed the food more since everyone was very nice. We were very surprised by this since we knew it to be a well-regarded place.
Lovely staff, felt very welcomed, and the tapas plates we ordered were delicious. Since we changed our indoor dining request to outside seating, we didn't have a chance to see the interior of the restaurant; we hope to on our next visit.
The food is always delicious, yesterday was the first time visit since renovated few years ago.
Amazing! I will be back for sure.
Muy buena comida, atención y ambiente. Sin duda volvería.
Loved it! The traditional Spanish dishes were delicious. We ate outside and even though our table was on busy 14th Street, the meal was lovely, European and calm. The inside of the restaurant—which we saw when using the restrooms—is beautifully-lit (great wall sconces!) and soothing.
Some of the worst service I’ve ever seen at a restaurant. I’m not sure if they were short staffed or something but it was so bad that the hostess had to take our order. We didn’t see our waitress until we were done eating. The food was pretty good but the service was unbearable.
Can not wait to go back, everything about this meal makes me want to go.
Food was just super inventive spins on traditional tapas. Drinks were delicious and also the same type of twists. Good value.
One of my favorite places though the noise level was a little high for my taste. The only place to get tapas in the city except maybe for Little Spain’s Diner.
Fine, interesting Spanish food, well-seasoned. The monkfish was very tasty, but overpriced. Calimari was great. Go for the apps and make an excellent, reasonably prices, interesting meal. Don't forget the Cava Sangria!
Hidden treasure. Loved it
The food was great, the service was lacking but they were packed.
Excellent as always!!!
Perfect for a group and food was delicious! Will be booking again.
From start to finish this was fantastic! Best sangria, cocktails were like works of art and the food was delicious! We sat where we could see the chef making everyone's meals and we wanted everything! Paella, mmmmmmm! The waitstaff was not only efficient but super nice! How did I not know this place existed? Cannot wait to go back. The interior is simple done just right. Very inviting and comfortable.
Excellent food and dedication from the service people who operate this not for profit ...
Great food, Spanish friendly but a little slow service. It’s a great place to relax outdoors with wine and tapas.
One of my favorite places to go in the city, but make sure to reserve in advance! The new deck out front is a great addition and the summer menu is a treat! Always get the most for your money here with generous portions.
Fantastic, authentic Spanish food!
This Restaurant is totally overrated. Several people told me it was very good but I can tell you that mediocre is a compliment. They can’t even get there paella made properly
Overall rating excellent. We went for my friends birthday and had an amazing experience. The food is delicious, the staff and service was outstanding. Whether you want a quiet dinner or a loud outgoing party place this restaurant offers both. We had an incredible time.
