I continue to be impressed with the cuisine at this historical Spanish Club that goes back to my Father’s time and before when this block between 7th and 8th Ave was called: “Little Spain”.
All the Tapa’s were just right and the paella perfect. The Tortillia is a must have. Make sure you go and know that it is authentic cooking by a chef from Valencia who I want to someday cater for my friends and extended family, when God willing we are back to social interaction.
I had posted a review already and the manager contacted me and offered me a free meal which I declined. While the food we DID eat was superb, we didn't get everything we ordered because it simply took too long. We only received 2 of 3 plates ordered, after more than 90 minutes. Waiters were as rare as hen's teeth, our glasses were not refilled, and we were shoved in a corner of the restaurant adjacent the bathrooms. My partner had said, as we sat down "this is not going to be good," and he was right. We should have left immediately and put this bad experience behind us.
It will be a while before I'll consider going back.
We were a party of 7 - we sat outside and enjoyed a feast. We tried pretty much all of the tapas and the cheese and meat boards. Service was great. We were celebrating a birthday.
The tortilla was the best I’ve ever had, moist, almost creamy, and delicious. Great mushroom croquettes, Mezcal cocktail nice and smokey. Lovely and large outdoor seating area - I’m older than I used to be, so I care about spacing and openness. Charming waitstaff and great 150 year history in the Spanish Benevolent Society. Looking forward to the paella next time, although all the tapas were good.
Food is the best . Everything is so goooooood !!! I’ve been on this restaurant around 7 times . Never get bored ! 😊😊😊😊
Good people, good service, good food, good outdoor space.
If feels like a authentic Espana Restaurant.tapas.Good ambience. friendly stuff.
Wine is good too,
Loved it. Will be back!!
You must go to La Nacional. I am from Spain and eating this food reminded me of the finer parts of home. Will definitely be going back
Absolutely amazing restaurant! They bring in chefs from Spain as part of a non-profit effort, so the food is truly authentic. The chef right now is from Valencia, so make sure to try the paella!
I really really wanted to enjoy our dining experience however it was underwhelming and we were a bit disappointed. The service and the tapas were great however the squid ink paella did not taste the way it used to be. I could not quite pinpoint what changed. Also, I have to mention that the second floor reeked of cigarettes. I am not certain if we were just seated close to a vent. It wasn’t the case when we were seated downstairs which was recently renovated. I wish this review will help improve my once favorite restaurant.
How I love this place !! The service and food fantastic !! Prices very reasonable also !!
The host was friendly, the waiter was super sociable. The restaurant has great ambiance. Definitely dining there again
Love love love this place!!!
The tapas themselves were very tasty. The service was not as we expected. It took a long time for someone to take our drink order, and then a long time to take our food order. There were multiple servers, so it was difficult ikr to determine who to ask for what. We then ordered a second bottle of wine, which we could see sitting on the bar for 10 minutes. We asked 2 servers about it, and then received the bottle another 5 minutes. So, the service was not up to par.
Fantastic place for agroup. That service as great and the food was even better!!!! Definitly going to come again
Absolutely loved this place. Our server, Alex was a joy and truly made the experience memorable. I can’t wait to come back.
Great spot, tasty tapas, lovely service and decor.
Happy a wonderful birthday dinner here
The staff was very friendly and the food was well prepared. The octopus was a little chewy, but literally everything else on the apps was amazing! Going to try the Paella next time!
Overwhelming perfect experience in this hidden gem! Food service atmosphere is perfect !! Would recommend to family and friends! It felt like coming. Home to family !
La Nacional is a great time! There every month and love the food and Spanish beers.
We had a great dining experience. The paella and cheese/meat board were delicious. The sangria was good, but not outstanding. The service was great. Fun and friendly vibe. As close to Spain as you'll get in NYC!
Very great experience! Food was great and portion sizes were great versus other tapas places in Nyc.
Pleasant restaurant with friendly waitstaff and good food.
Delicious food. I recommend the shrimp, patatas bravas, and the cod.
Loved the food!!! And our sever was so nice! Will be returning soon!
Love it!! Great place :)) food was delicious, service was also good! Highly recommend!
Really nice staff and service. Accommodating to our concerns about COVID, and made it a very COVID safe dining experience.
Great finding. I relied on Google Maps' suggestion. The food was delicious, tapas as tasted in Spain. We didn't have any trouble making our reservation and keeping distance from other tables. The waiters were very kind and bilingual. The cava sangria, a must.
Small Birthday get together
Food and service was great! Only downside was that we had to sit upstairs which was a bit cold and dull.
Great Spanish food and wine. Went for a birthday and was able to bring a cake with no fee. Staff was very accommodating and service was great. Was able to stay longer than the 2hr time limit since there were no subsequent reservations for a party of 6 after us. Would definitely go back.
Given it was the first night back indoor dining, we understood why the service was a little slow. The food and drinks were amazing, we’re excited to come back when things are at full speed again.
One of NYCs best kept secrets .. incredible food, unique mission and wonderful people.
Friendly staff and festive atmosphere makes La Nacional a neighborhood favorite. The food and service is outstanding.
Our server Elio was amazing!
