Located in old Motown beautiful Hotel St. Regis, La Musique offers visitors an experience that only Detroit can provide. The sophisticated restaurant has an open and lavish dining area with private rooms available for large groups or parties. The experience is complete with a full-service bar. At La Musique, the menu changes with the seasons, providing diners with the freshest produce. With over 20 years experience in fine dining, Chef couples American and Gulf Coast favorites to create inspiring dishes that use local ingredients with the ambiance that pays homage to the musical roots of the city. With its large dining area and adjacent hotel, La Musique is an excellent place to host large parties, weddings or other events. The restaurant is open Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday for lunch, dinner and room service, closed Monday's.
I can’t imagine a more disappointing experience.
The menu on the website was SIGNIFICANTLY different than the one we were presented with upon arrival. Specifically, lower range dining options (such as sandwiches and burgers) were not available upon arrival, and I specifically chose this restaurant for my family’s gathering based on the site’s nice range of options as we can’t all afford expensive options.
Second, we were not given a drinks, beer and wine menu when we were seated, and when we requested it (after a long wait), we were given one that had a food menu that was on be website but that we were later told was unavailable. Very confusing.
Third, service was dreadfully slow, and the servers were not knowledgeable about what was available. For instance, a beer that my father wanted was not available, plus the confusion about the menu as described above.
Insult to injury, three (of six) of our entrees arrived cold. We told the waitress about this and later asked that two be removed from the bill, to which she graciously complied. The third one was my own, which was marginally cold and I did not speak up about, but in hindsight I should have complained about. (I really wanted this dinner to be enjoyed.) What I found disturbing was that the food was cold from the bottom of the plate, which tells me the food was pre-made and reheated.
I have to also point out that there were only three tables occupied in the entire restaurant. There is NO CHANCE that the kitchen was overwhelmed with work. I also have to say that we detected multiple times the odor of marijuana.
I so wanted to impress upon my fiercely Detroit-proud mom and dad (89 years young,) and my “snobby” Chicagoan wife that our city was not the “SOD”-Same Old Detroit.
My husband and I went to this restaurant when we stayed in the hotel here. He ordered a meatball pasta dish which came out stone cold. I ordered the calamary and the gumbo. The gumbo States and the menu that it has chicken, sausage, shrimp, And scallops. It came out the most disgusting Brown I have ever seen and stuck to the side of the bowl. It had tiny specks of chicken and sausage Annette, nothing else. It was heavily salted and tasted warmed up. The calamari, while it looked good, was so rock solid that I cracked it and to pieces with my spoon. It literally shattered. And I do not mean the fried part I mean the actual squid. Unfortunately the beer and the bread were the best part of the meal and we will certainly not return. No discount or refund was offered upon showing the staff members are the problems. Unfortunately we did not have time to send back and order other food so we were out $50 for a meal that we did not eat.
Unfortunately the dinner menu has changed which does not include the hamburgers, fries, chicken quesadillas or chicken wings and therefore I will not be back for dinner.
Great food awesome staff
Came here for a Valentines Day dinner. 3 stars is very generous due to strictly my assumption that other plates on the menu that I didn't order could possibly be really good since one of the items we had was amazing and I think the place has some possible potential.
Lobster mac n cheese - 6/5. Phenomenal!
Strip Steak (only steak option) - 1/5. Garbage. We ordered Medium Rare and it came out Extra Well. Sent it back to have it come back Medium Well. Didn't feel like sending it back a 2nd time and just ate a few bites from the middle. I have my doubts it would have been very good if it came out medium rare to be honest.
Truffle Fries - 3/5. Decent. I'm not big on fries and actually thought they were pretty good and my girlfriend who loves fries, especially truffle fries, thought they were pretty bad.
Peach Cobbler - 3/5. Good flavor but lacked in texture. Decent.
Service - 4/5. Attentive and accommodating for how terrible the steak was but when I asked for recommendations the server went no further than to just say "all of it". I was in the service industry for years and one of the first things you learn is to have some personal recommendations from each aspect of the menu.
Environment - 3/5. There's potential but the open setting to the under construction hotel was not very comfortable at all.
If I was the head chef and a table sent me an extremely over cooked steak I would make sure the next one is perfect, if not slightly under cooked and then personally make sure the table likes it while offering my apologies. Even after the second steak was a disaster the chef never made an appearance the restaurant was not busy enough for that to be an excuse.
I wouldn't say I would never go here again only because of how good the lobster mac and cheese was, I think there might be potential but I will say I don't have any intention on returning any time soon.
Food was excellent! We had salmon florentine and steak with truffle fries. Service was great as well, Rose was our server.
The food was average and the service was slow and disorganized. The renovations at the hotel look lovely though.
The food was exceptional as was the service. Edmund the food and beverage manager was attentive and kind. Highly recommend!
My experience with staff, food & beverage were fabulous! Thank you very much:-)
New chef / new ownership. Everything was excellent. Our waitress holly was awesome
Our server, Felicia, was great. She was efficient, knowledgeable, welcoming and professional. Our crab cakes were delicious.
I would like to hear more singing from the waiter. He sounded great.
Our server was Wanda and she was fantastic. Gave great suggestions on the food which was delicious. The prices were very reasonable. There is construction at the entrance which made it a little difficult to find but the people at St Regis Hotel were helpful.
After theater (matinee) dinner. As we were dining at 5 pm, we had a very attentive bartender and server. Wanda looked up an unusual drink that I wanted. We tweaked it a bit and it was fabulous. The Bronx themed food was excellent and we were raised in the Bronx so we should know. Great day at the theater and wonderful dinner afterwards. And home by 7:30. Can you tell we are seniors?
Fabulous experience! From excellent food to wonderful service. Chef Bobby is GREAT!
Loved our experience. We will be back!!
The food was amazing. Service was excellent. It made a good night a great night. Excited for the grand opening this summer. If you have the chance to go I suggest going. You will have a wonderful time.
Atmosphere was clean but too understated.
No wow at all. Staff was friendly and welcoming . Server was good. I live in Detroit and like to try a new restaurant when given the opportunity. Went to dine here after going to the Theater .
I will just say that they need to step it up . The food was just ok. With all the new and different restaurants in the city I wouldn’t be able to recommend this one ... sorry .
Has potential given its location.
The door behind us when opened and closed from the street side slammed loudly. Other than that, I would go back again in a heart beat.
La Musique is the only restaurant within walking distance of the Fisher Theater, so very convenient if you want to park in their lot first. Because of hotel construction, it was very difficult to find our way into the restaurant. Some signage would have been appreciated.
Food-wise, we found the menu to quite limited. We ended up with burgers which were very good, but the accompanying fries were a bit limp. Would have appreciated a side salad or coleslaw as an accompaniment.
Our service was good considering they had a big crowd that night.
Your restaurant was recommended to me and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The steak was fabulous and my guest had the lobster Mac & cheese . Great dinner after seeing a great play at the Fisher 🌷
We were late for lunch and potentially late for our show at the Fisher. Our server, Holly, was aware this and took care of us so efficiently that we made the curtain on time. She's welcoming, knowledgeable and likeable. Nice visit!
Party of 3 ordered 2 quesadillas and an entree salad. It took 45 min for the quesadillas to come out and an hour for the salad. (The other 2 were finished eating when it arrived). The waitress apologized once about 30 min in and offered free drinks/refill but hadn’t previously asked about refills. Water glasses were filled once near end of meal and rolls were never offered and finally brought when requested after quesadillas delivered, while still waiting for salad, after almost an hour of waiting for food. Other tables who came in later seemed to be served much quicker. Getting bill also took way longer than it should have. I’ve previously eaten here before a show without issue but tonight there seemed to be major issues with the kitchen and service.
La Musique is a convenient spot for a bite before a show at the Fisher. Wanda was engaging, enthusiastic and professional. The burger she recommended was quite good, as were the fresh cute fries. The special salmon was otherwise mediocre. The St. Regis is undergoing renovations, so we’ll give La Musique another try.
Tasty food, friendly, efficient service. Very limited menu, a little pricey. Great location for dinner before a show at the Fisher
Unfortunately, I do not remember our waitress's name, but l still want to note that she was excellent. She was welcoming, polite, and attentive to our needs. She was efficient and knowledgeable. You are fortunate to have her on your team. As always, the cocktails and crab cakes were perfect.
The server Alfonz was Amazing he was so personalable, informative, attentive and knowledgeable about the hotel history. Also the cheif Demetria came out after we raved about her Adult Maccaroni which was “Superb”. She was very kind and appreciative. It was a great dining experience!
Waited at entrance for 5 minutes before associate noticed us and told an associate to wait on us. This lady was chatting with hotel staff at front desk and continued to do so for another 5 minutes so we left.
Was not really impressed. Food was not really eye popping but was good. Service was not that good, the only one who seemed to be attentive to my granddaughter and I was an attendant who kept our water glass full. Was there a few years ago and had heard it had improved it didn't. See you in a few more years.
As always, we enjoyed our lunch prior to seeing a show at the Fisher. Food and drinks were great. Our server, Marc'Dez, welcomed us with a smile and took very good care of us. She was efficient and professional.
They did a great job with our cocktails and ensured we were served quickly in order to be in time for a play at the Fisher. Super convenient if you’re going to the Fisher! Very friendly staff!
Small menu, mediocre food, tired and dated atmosphere, ok service. Something really wonderful could happen here in this area with new ownership!
We had a lovely time. Food and service was excellent!!
Ordered drinks. They never came. Dinner took an hour. Still no drinks. Two very large parties and only one waiter for the entire rest of the restaurant. Ended up taking 50% off our bill. Wouldn’t rush back.
We had a nice lunch at this restaurant before the Fisher. We enjoyed our food and our cocktails. Our server, Marc'Dez was great. She was welcoming and attentive to our needs. She appreciated the fact that we were attending a show, so she got us what we needed in a timely fashion without rushing us. This restaurant is fortunate to have her on their team.
I’m giving it a bad review because I made a reservation and the place was closed because they decided to only open for brunch that day. There was no connection between the open table reservation and the restaurant hours. I was left with no place to eat a family dinner on Mother’s Day
Our reservations were at 6:15pm and there wasn't any hostess there ever, we only ordered salads and it took 45 minutes to get those. Thank goodness the show was at 8pm because we didn't get out of there until 7:30pm
The restaurant was absolutely empty. No other guests came in the entire time we were there. We wanted dessert, and there was only ONE choice: cheesecake. It was fine, but we would have liked more variety. Our waiter, Alfonse, was fantastic.
Great for eating before the theater. Small menu...would love more choices. We all had the catfish sandwich (yummy!) and the gumbo (so good!). Our server, Alfonz, was outstanding and went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. Beers were a little small for the price...would love a pint glass.
Our server was excellent. I’m sorry I don’t recall her name. The restaurant wasn’t very busy but she still took more time with us than she had to.
My friend and I have eaten at La Musique before a Fisher show in the past. This time we were with our
daughters for lunch before Hamilton. We had a lovely time; was very special. Our favorite, waitress/bartender took care of us. As always, Holly, was welcoming, knowledgeable, efficient and professional. You are lucky to have her on your team.
