La Mula Terca
Roasted tomato and paprika puree, shrimp and manchego cheese
mexican sausage with homemade hoja santa and garlic cream, red onion and shredded manchego cheese
Grilled skirt steak seasoned with brazilian salt, served with chorizo (mexican sausage), corn, pico de gallo and a side of chimichurri sauce
The food was excellent. The homemade margarita mix was excellent. The waitress was very, very sweet, young and very inexperienced. We had to ask for silverware, napkins, plates, she had a difficult time explaining the food, how many glasses were in a pitcher versus a 1/2 pitcher of margarita mix, etc. She did try very hard and brought everything with a big smile. The dining room is small, fairly basic and very clean. We all agreed we would go back as we had a good time, really enjoyed the food and our sweet server. She just needs some training, a check list of what to bring to a table and to study the menu a bit.
Easily the best Mexican restaurant in Philadelphia.
The place looks run down and old. Tables and chairs were broken so not a comfortable setting. Service was quick but poor: our server was a young girl with no customer service experience. Very small. The tacos were amazing, the montaditas tasted great but the guacamole and pico were horrible. Went there for the birria tacos and liked them…but not going again. …more of a order/take out place than dine in.
Went for Mother's Day brunch with my family and had an excellent time. The service was amazing and so was the food. Authentic Mexican with great flavor.
Great experience. The place is small, but the food was excellent. We went before the main dinner crowd came (around 5pm) so we basically had the place to ourselves. This is a BYOB place - we brought our own Tequila and added it to the house margarita mix - it was great! Our service was also great. We will be back.
We went for cinco de Mayo and everything was excellent. The owner went above and beyond to help accommodate all of us and made sure we have a great experience. The biggest surprise of the night was the mariachi band. We had a blast and I would highly recommend this place for any occasion. 10/10 *chefs kiss*
They accommodated us quickly and we celebrated my daughters birthday the food was delicious and the service was great!
Wasn’t sure what to expect, but La Mula is definitely a hidden gem! I don’t know where to start...the food was some of the best authentic Latin/Mexican food I’ve ever had. Lots of subtle flavors, and then some not-so-subtle. The shrimp montaditos were were perfect for two people; my churrasco steak was amazing and perfectly cooked, and the chorizo and corn on the side was an excellent complement; lastly, we shared the bunuelo and the churros, which were fried just right and dusted with a good amount of cinnamon and sugar (the mango and apple topping was a nice addition!).
I can’t go without mentioning the service...they were attentive, polite, and made us feel very comfortable! Definitely have to visit again!
awesome food, cute little place. good for a first date or just a night out.
We are HUGE fans of authentic Mexican cuisine and this surely delivered! We had the tamarind juice with guacamole, esquites, lamb birria and the arepas. The arepas were our absolute favorite. The beef was juicy, well-seasoned and delicious. I am not a big beef fan, so this says a lot. We ate it all and it was filling.
The service was excellent and everything came out quickly! COVID measures were taken and we will be back. What a gem!
We had guacamole, the spicy mango chicken taco, and the mixiote de barrego. Everything was great! Right now, there are 3 tables on the sidewalk for dine-in. Very comfortable and clean.
Very good food
Excellent food., great service and nice décor. So cute and quaint and the food was off the charts. We were all happy with everything!
Just go! This is a hidden gem. I wish I lived closer. It is cash only.
La Mula Terca was the perfect place to get together with friends and enjoy some fabulous food, drinks, and service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. The food was great and affordable - not to mention it was BYO, which adds to its affordability. We will definitely be back!
A total hidden gem, the food and service were both amazing! We will be back!
Small and cozy place. Fabulous friendly staff, a relaxed atmosphere and incredible meals. Affordable, and a great value for quality dining. This place is gem!
Fantastic food - truly above par. Service was great. We dined at 5:00, and the restaurant was nearly empty. Recommend very highly.
Best mexican in the city
The flavors are fantastic. All three of us loved our choices. The music set a nice ambience, but was too loud for a dinner with friends or family.
Food is FANTASTIC. We received a complimentary app and margarita for the day of the dead. Everyone was super nice. My only feedback is that service is slow, so BYOB and plan to sit and relax.
This is a great restaurant find in South Philly. We had the jalapeno margarita mix with chili-rimmed glasses, and they were great. I had a Pastorguesa sandwich, which is an "al pastor" sandwich...and it was great! My wife had some tacos...and it all was great!
La Mula Terca is always fresh, creative and delicious. The wait staff is very friendly. It’s a hidden gem.
Food was just so so. Nice service.
Wonderful gourmet Mexican food. Great selection of small plates and appetizers that can make a nice varied meal. I especially love the steak specialties.
Absolutely love this place! A true gem. Bring your own tequila for the most delicious margaritas.
True hidden gem . Gotta try it ! The green mussels were amazing
Our meal was fantastic! The guac was really good and our main courses were delicious. My friend and I both got dishes with grilled shrimp and veggies - so nice to have lighter choices. Would definitely go here again!
As regulars to cafe y chocolate across the street we decided to try la Mula Terca for brunch. We were not disappointed as the diverse menu gives you the chance to have dishes different than the run of the Mexican food found at most places. They were very accommodating making huevos Con chorizo (not on the menu) for our son who seems to always want that.
